Hi Martha! I'm Betsy's stepsister (ex stepsister? Don't ask -- too complicated!) I live in Albany, but have been to visit & love the horses (esp the one who was a black lab in a former life!) I've had a lousy week & would love a horse hug!
So Boo, what names did you pick? I loved Lost & Found! And they look alot like Kitties kitty's. Maybe cow names--Blossom & Buttercup?
Will call ya Tues--love you & your 'monsters'--have they discovered the wonders of your shoelaces yet?

Dear Martha,
I just wanted to tell you a beautiful story of a cat we adopted 15 years ago. His name was Mocha and he was the best cat in the world. He decided that he was my daughter Sara's cat. He would sit on the back of our couch and wait for her to come home. Two weeks ago Mocha died, but it was a beautiful family experience. We took him outside were he loved to be and sat with him in the sunshine, for an hour he just laid in our arms enjoying his time. He meowed to us as if to say goodbye and the closed his eyes and just went to sleep, If death can be calm and beautiful his was and it brought us together and a family. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Barbara Carl

Last May, our uncle had a cat that was killed by a car. She left 3, 2 to 3 week old kittens behind. We took them in and fed them kitten formula for awhile. After they didn't need the bottle anymore, we fed them baby cereal with kitten formula. Eventually, they could eat dry food, and they now weigh around 4 1/2 pounds each. They are doing great. Good luck with your kittens!

Yesterday we found six kittens in the back of an old truck on our farm. The neighbor has about 30 cats and doesn't have them neutered. What are we to do? The little things are wild and 'ferocious' to us. They have a mother. If we take them over to the owner, their tom cat will kill them immediately. Our local humane society charges over $100 each to take them there. Any suggestions that are practical? I already have four grown, neutered cats.

Hi Martha! :o)
Although we've always been dog lovers, after our beloved Pug- "Toby", went to "Doggie Heaven", we became the owners of five abandoned cats..!!!
We first saw a pretty calico (now called "Momma"), ..soon, we met her two kittens (Sweety & Beatty). With the weather becoming chilly, we brought them into our home. Soon, I noticed she was gaining weight (maybe I was feeding her too much?)...a trip to the vet confirmed she was pregnant, again. (I honestly had very limited prior knowledge, in caring/birthing kittens!) As I felt the delivery time was approaching...I made four blanket "nests" for her (my hubby assured me, that would be enough for her to choose from..!!)
I set up our camcorder, to record this most important event! "Mama" let out a loud "sqwack", and started spinning in circles...(meanwhile,....Sweety and Beatty are hunched under our kitchen table, with eyes "like saucers"!(To be totally honest...I was feeling the same way.....Gulp!!)
I'm trying to keep the camcorder "centered" on Mama (trust me....I now have a whole new "appreciation" for photographers filming "live action"..!!!) :o)
Four kittens were born , during a twenty-four hour period. "Boo-boo" was the largest (and first born), her other three kittens, unfortunately, didn't survive. (I took Mama to her vet, and she explained that's "nature's way")
A few months later,we heard a kitten "crying" out by our deck...he was so small, and so beautiful! Our little cat family now consists of "Mama, Beatty, Sweety, Boo-boo, and Sputty". (Sputnik!)We love them dearly!!!
I hope this story will make someone smile.....

PS: I so enjoyed your pictures with Paul Newman...he was "the best"! :o)
Another footnote: I grew up in a little village called Westport (Ont., Canada) It is beautiful, and a very popular tourist location. I live near another beautiful, and very picturesque city- Brockville. We are surrounded by beautiful, clean waters. Our area is known as "the city of the Thousand Islands", because, within the area, there actually are one thousand islands! (The "Singer", and "Bolt" castles are just two castles located in this region)
I love your show Martha! "Thank you"!! :o)
    Sincerely, Marsha Thake
