A visit to Pasanella and Son Vintners, not your usual wine store!
I recently had the great pleasure of visiting my friends, Marco Pasanella and Rebecca Robertson, owners of the fabulous Pasanella and Son Vintners located at 115 South Street in New York City, in the old Fulton Fish Market area.  Rebecca is also the Deputy Decorating Editor for Martha Stewart Living. She and her husband, Marco, were residing in an apartment above a fish vendor. When Fulton Fish relocated to the Bronx in 2005, the couple bought the vacated space below and transformed it into their dream of an incredible wine store, Pasanella and Son, aptly named in celebration of the birth of their first child.
Pasanella and Son, stocks more that 400 wines, each hand selected from small, family-run vineyards to established and sought after wine makers. They also sell a fine assortment of beautiful and unusual wine-related accessories. But what’s really wonderful about Pasanella and Son is that Marco and Rebecca have a keen interest in educating their customers about wine and wine paring. They regularly open their doors for tastings, seminars, and special events. It’s kind of a little paradise for wine lovers. I hope you enjoy these photos taken at a tasting we did for a television segment that will air today!

Beautiful photos!

Good Morning Martha:
A little different type of wine establishment with all the great looking food to go along with the wines. I bet Marco and Rebecca are very successful, because I think this would be a wonderful place to visit.

I'm not a wine drinker but the food sure looked delicious and the wine store does look like a bit of paradise. Very classy!
I also like that color on you. It makes your brown eyes browner. I look forward to seeing this segment on today's show. Trish

This subject? - I know NOTHING about it! I've never been to a tasting, simply from just not taking time...this one, though, looked (again) warm and inviting...a feast for the eyes - the food and table were beautiful, the brick walls, the terrace garden - truly homey, as you remarked, Martha. Cozy (to me) is what it's all about!
I'm pleased that you found the brown kraft paper to be a nice asset. Most people don't like the look, but I r-e-a-l-l-y like gift wrapping with the brown paper and other natural additions, like regular garden (jute) twine or raffia, etc. It can sometimes appear so plain and drab, but I LOVE this look!
I will definitely cozy-up with my little Edgar =^..^= tonight to watch today's show (you know, the rewound version...)
Christmas blessings, my Martha-friend!

Martha, the spontaneous nature of your pictures is wonderful. Your use of pictures and subjects is as much fun as if it were a conversation we were having.
Thanks for all the pictures, loved the one of the dishes on the shelf.

Hi Martha, What a fascinating lesson on learning about "Living Everyday" on your blog. You have the best people working at MSLO. Rebecca and the TV crew are great examples and they look like they are having a great time along with you. Wow, the wines and the variety of foods, look absolutely scrumptious. Look forward to viewing this episode on your show. Jan

What a beautiful establishment, just lovely. I can just sense the lingering and delightful conversations over fantastic wine. Looks like a great evening. Thanks for sharing!

As a wine lover (what's not to love?), I was unfamiliar with a couple of the wines served at the tasting. Considering I would be able to track them on the MS web page, I didn't make note of what they were. I can't find them in spite of several searches. Would someone please share the list? Thanks!

Martha,
What an absolutely fantastic segment today when you went to Pasanella & Son. May husband and I are big wine lovers and have travelled to many states for tastings. (His brother and wife introduced us to wine 20+ years ago and have enjoyed going to wineries and tasting so much) As luck would have it, we both were home and got the opportunity to watch your show today and both stated we would love to visit NYC and visit that location. My request to you - could you have a segment on your show doing some of the food that you had at the tasting? My sister-in-law and I just hosted a wine tasting (5 couples plus 1) about 3 weeks ago (this was our second hosting we have done) and we are always looking for wonderful top rated food to serve. Please do a show on what you had today or similar items. This makes such a warm fun evening for get togethers and we need ideas. The four of us are talking about coming to NYC to visit and will definately stop in at Pasanella & Son. Thank you so much for a great segment. (Now I'm off to download the wine tasting card template that you talked about. We will use it for our next tasting in the spring, then I need to find the cookie recipe -What a great show today.

(...for fellow-blogger Sandra Larsen...)
Sandra, go to Martha's photo gallery for this blog, and find photo #8 (the blank wine tasting card). Click on it once, then enlarge it...you might be able to decipher some of the selections chosen that are pre-printed on the card. I can read the type of wine (red, white, etc) but the actual name is a little blurry for my eyes. See how that works...hope it is helpful to you. I'm thinking that with your existing expertise and knowledge, you might be able to pick right up on them. =^..^=

(...addendum reply, for fellow-blogger Sandra Larsen...)
Go to the following, Sandra, on Martha's website...it'll tell you e-x-a-c-t-l-y what you're looking for:
>go to "TV & Video" tab at top of page
>along left side of screen you'll see "looking for something from the (Martha) show?"; go to the drop-down under "previous 15 topics" and select "wine tasting"
All the selections will populate from yesterday's show (12/10) (at least today, that's what comes up)...everything's right there for you, including their (Passanella & Son's) website info (pretty cool, huh?!)
Blessings, Sandra...hope this is helpful!

such an inspiring array of ideas on how to present food. Wine tasting would be a great entertaining idea for a lazy Spring afternoon.

Hi, Martha,
Thanks for taking us along on your visit to Pasanella and Son Vintners, certainly a paradise for wine lovers. I like how they educate their customers about wine and wine paring through heir tastings, seminars, and special events.
