Hi, Martha,
What wonderful pictures of Rock in Iraq and of Francesca and Sharkey romping in their holiday outfits on your farm! Rock will certainly enjoy the box of cookies from Alexis. Francesca and Sharkey are just adorable.
I hope your holidays are filled with peace, love, and joy. Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah to you and your family and to all!

Merry Christmas Martha:
Oh their so cute in their Santa Wardrobes. Just like little kids, aren't they, taking a nap after playing outside.
We have our troops to Thank for Giving of themselves to make our country safe. Here we are celebrating Christmas and the New Year and it's because of them that we are Safe.

Martha,
We prayed for the troops at Mass this morning in Newton MA at Our Ladys parish. I came home to ice the gingerbread cutouts. The recipe is page 81 from the Baking Handbook. I tried the royal icing for the first time. I even colored it with food coloring. Ohhh it is fun and festive! Now I am baking off the french baguette from page 312. I am taking the wrapped parmesan-rosemary cracker to friends for appetizers. They were so popular at the dinner party of December 23. Merry Merry Merry!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Everyone! Martha thanks so much for the pictures of your little gals - they are so darn cute in their red coats and hats. I love all animals but doggies are my favorite and Sharkey and Frannie are simply precious! I can't wait to see Khan romping around.
I think I saw the cookies Alexis sent to Rock; she had so many goodies on her Whatever Girls blog including birthday presents to yours and her good friend, Kevin Sharkey, and a lot of food. I'm in another world when I'm looking at delicious looking food so forgive me if I don't remember all of her photos - her salads are great! We are lucky to have our John III home from Iraq but I often think of all the troops and look forward to when they are also safely home again.
I didn't think you would be blogging today but I always check anyway. Thanks for the nice surprise and I hope you are enjoying your day wherever you are.
Special holiday greetings to some of your other loyal fans Cindy, Jan, Pam, Margie, Rowaida….to name a few regulars and I still wonder where Nan Ashby is. I read everyone’s comment everyday and enjoy them all and I have to say it’s nice to be part of this blog family! Trish
P.S. I'm watching your show and laughing about the 'gnome' in the middle of Noah's Ark.

What darling little dogs you have. My brother in law got back from Iraq in January. It was very hard for him to be away on the holidays.
I cannot wait for the new season of MARTHA.
Merry Christmas and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Hi Martha, Thank you so much for taking the time to share these darling photos of your precious little girls. They look like they are having fun in the snow in their cute little outfits, up to a point. Sharkey can't keep her hat on, because she runs too fast and Francesca isn't sure she wants to be out there. I love the comments! These two always make me laugh. Great pictures Rock sent. Sure hope he will be home soon. How thoughtful of Alexis to send him some of her fabulous cookies. No doubt they will be absolutely appreciated. Thanks for all you do, Martha and once again Happy Holidays to you and everyone around you. Jan

Hello Martha! I hope you and your family and friends had a wonderful Christmas! Our Christmas will not be forgotten this year for sure! We got more snow, and woke to a power outage! But no fear we still had our Christmas dinner-cooked in the fireplace in dutch ovens. Yummy! I am so proud of myself-what a feat! We had Ham, scalloped pataoes, yams and green beans. We still have no power but my hubby just got us a generator- so here I am blogging! Silly me!
Franseca and Sharkey were adorable in their Christmas outfits! And I know those troops enjoyed the cookies! As always it was fun to read your post!

These two doggie divas are about as happy as my chow was with her Santa hat, NOT HAPPY lol!
What they do to please us humans they must think we are so silly.
My nephew Jams is in special forces army medic and is far from home right now, so many young men and women overseas keeping us all safe -God bless them every single one.
I am sick today so Christmas has been a big bummer tried so hard to NOT let it get me so seeing the divas in their outfits made me smile between grumbles.
No Martha show here today or tomorrow we have that football jazz on here ,how dare they pre empty my Martha!

Have you ever seen a round chicken coop? Actually they are 8 sided. When I moved to this area a few years ago I could not figure out what the neat old buildings were that I see falling down in old farmyard weeds. Did some research and now I want to buy one and restore it, but haven't figured out the best way to this. There are at least three near me. Really worried they will be gone soon. They have a roof that peaks in the center and the house is big enought to stand in etc. A window on either side of the door. There is a restored one and it is fantastic. Thought of you. and maybe you would "have to have one" for your collection of buildings:) You would know best what to do with such beautiful Architecture. There are other great styles of chicken coops in this area. I had never lived in the country so there buildings really impress me. ENJOY your day! nc

Martha:
Thanks for posting the Christmas photos of Sharkey and Francesca. It looks like they had a lot of fun and I hope you and your family did, too!
It was very thoughtful of Alexis to send the cookies to Rock in Iraq. I'm sure they were very much appreciated. My brother served over there for 10 months two years ago. Luckily he left soon after Christmas and was back home before the next one, so he never had to spend Chistmas away from home. It must be hard and I know the guys and girls appreciate all our prayers and look forward to care packages and news from home.
Martha, I wish you and your family a blessed Christmas season. Let's not forget that it goes on for 12 days, so the joy has just begun. In fact, I entertain all my guests between 12/25 and Epiphany. It's a lot less stressful and people are able to relax and enjoy themselves more. Many Blessings in the New Year to you and yours.

Hey Rock...God bless you!
Bless you for serving, for caring, for being a big, strong man and generous American soldier. Can't wait until you're back here with those who love you. Keep sending photos to Martha.
Take care and eat well!

I saw these photos last week after Christmas but didn't get to comment 'til now...
Francesca says, "mommyMartha, you spoil me sooo much...could I pleeease get a (2!) pair of booties for my tootsietoes?!!...I know you shoveled me a path, mommy, but I'm not as feisty as my sister!"
Sharkey says, "mommyMartha, look how fast my little legs will go in the snow, and look how bootiful I am in my bootiful red cape, especially, mommy, when I play in the snow!"
Again, with previous mentions that I grew up with Boxerdoggies, these little pushed-in faces are precious - they feel like velvet!
My poor little 17-year-old-Edgar-cat =^..^=...Sharkey would mow him down...he wouldn't know what happened...

Hi Martha,
Your dogs are so cute running and jumping in the snow!

Adorable little pups..
The cookies must have been devoured by the troops.. This year we started a new tradition.. u know all the cards we get during the holiday season, we pick one card a day ( i guess we will end sometime in the new year) and pray for that family before dinner.. this way we think of them and get a chance to really look at the card.. some people put so much effort in their cards and we just glance at most of them..

Martha, some people make fun of the way you talk saying you live in a different country called Connecticut. I happen to love all the pictures you post and the words you use for the captions. You see beauty in alot of trees, animals, food, landscaping, etc. I always look forward to your blog and your Connecticut written captions. Keep on Martha!! They are just wishing they had your money or even a small portion of it.
