A Fabulous Meal at Jim Lahey's New Pizza Restaurant Co.
After attending the antiques show the other evening, we me up with some other MSLO employees at Co., short for Company, Jim Lahey’s new pizza restaurant in the Chelsea section of Manattan. (Co., 230 Ninth Ave. (at 24th St.); 212-243-1105. Jim has been a wonder, baking at his Sullivan Street Bakery, and I’ve been a big fan of his for many years. You may have seen him on my television show. I have to say that his latest venture, Co., did not disappoint. We ate and had so much fun. Come and take a look!

Looks like a lovely get-together. I find myself craving this kind of setting on cold January nights!

Looks like terrific pizza and salads. And the communal tables and "everyman" atmosphere looks interesting for NYC. The diners must be in for a festive experience.
(PS Cheers to Lucinda--I love her casual, focused segments on your show. She sure seems like the "real deal.")

Hi Martha, Yummmmmm!!! What a delicious blog! I would love to taste everything you photographed at Jim Lahey's Pizza Co. We sure could use a beautiful pizza place like that here in the Seattle area. I do remember seeing Jim before on your show and seeing some of these photos before. I am so hungry after viewing this blog that I am going to have to get something to eat even though it's after 9PM here. BTW, what is charcuterie in photo #10 and lardon in photo # 13? I've probably heard you mention them before, but I just can't remember them right now. Thanks for another great blog. Jan

That looks like a fabulous spot...love the chic lights. I am hoping to make a large light that looks like those acrylic string balls spheres for our new abode...I think I might attempt to do it with paper mache glue, natural coloured string and a huge balloon. Do you have any tips?

If it works I will post it as one of my Make & Take projects.

OK, I know it is impolite to comment on people's appearances but I have to. Martha, you are one of the most naturally pretty woman I have ever seen. You never overdo the makeup (which it seems many stars over 40 do) and always look great. What are your secrets?
And I am sure its not eating too much Pizza although they look totally fantastic!! I love great Chefs too and the passion they have for the whole creative process.

Martha do you know if he cooks everything with olive oil? Seems like more and more places are cooking with olive oil and nothing else. Is his joint a place that cooks to order when ordered or is his menu pre- prepared beforehand and everything such as sauces and salad dressings are made early in the day, just curious.
Looks like you had a nice time, I can't get over your hair parted differently you and Diane Sawyer could pass as twin sisters I kid you not!

I just read what I posted to your blog after I sent it. I said joint instead of restaurant.
Around my house growing up we often would say joint instead .Do you want to eat at the joint down the street or across town? It isn't meant to be disrespectful to the owner. Just slang that has stayed with me over time.

Dear Martha,
What a wonderful looking restaurant. Is it located near the Chelsea Market?

Looks like 'a good time was had by all'! Hats off to Jim Lahey's success AND your successful books, Martha (and best-sellers, no less)! (We/I just LOVE you so!) Where I prefer a little cozier atmosphere, Mr Lahey's new Co. looks welcoming enough, and I do like the simplicity in the menu-printed placemats and the plain place settings and the carafes (of, looks like water(?) )
Gee whiz...forget the pizza! (no disrespect intended here - it looks good, too)...one can dine to a comfortable fill with the charcuterie alone! Your salad looked crisp and crunchy...then that warm, moist bread, with all the added accoutrements - yummyyummyformytummy!...MmmHmm!
Happy Monday, Martha! Hope you had a nice weekend at that 'secret' place. (You'll be telling us about it soon enough. [giggle] )

I think that was Jim Lahey on one of your previous shows that you helped take the long loaves of bread out of the hot ovens. He wore a bandana on his head if I remember correctly. He has a real nice pizza place and I'm really impressed with the salads. I had no idea what lardon was so I Googled it - salt pork fat used to lard meat or bacon that is diced, blanched and fried. So I guess it’s not your regular bacon bits. If I should ever eat there, I’ll get the escarole salad with lardons!
Yesterday, I was going to advance order both the Encyclopedia of Crafts coming out March 31st and the Cupcake book debuting June 2nd but got sidetracked with a paint brush so I will do that today. I enjoy crafting so I’m really looking forward to that book. I hope your scratchy throat is better. Trish

and I had a heated up frozen but originally fresh (Whole Foods) pizza sitting on a stool in my kitchen. Two dogs and my husband were in attendance. Drank beer.

Hi Martha,
I am wondering when you will bring your wonderful Martha-by-Mail pink, white & jadite cake stands to Macy's (or another retail outlet). It looks like I see them crop up in magazine pictures every now and then & I wish I could buy a set!
Thanks!

Martha,
Your blogs are awesome. I look forward to going on a scenic route each time I sign on to your website.

Hi Martha!
I understand that you'll be in the Tampa Bay area soon. I highly recommend you stop by one of the Columbia restaurants in our area. They were founded in 1905 by Cuban immigrant Casimiro Hernandez, Sr. They are Florida’s oldest restaurant and the world’s largest Spanish restaurant--and the food is fantastic. I think you'd like it!
Have fun while in town,
Kim

…bow chicka wow wow…
Martha you’re totally glowing in the photos from this Australia event. Whatever you’re doing, keep doing it!
I couldn’t help myself. It needed to be said.
Thx

martha, why are you fawning over co. offerings of perfectly ordinary pizza? seems to me a classic case of the Emperor's new clothes, i've been treated to better at no. 28 carmine in nyc's village!
