martha, why are you fawning over co. offerings of perfectly ordinary pizza? seems to me a classic case of the Emperor's new clothes, i've been treated to better at no. 28 carmine in nyc's village!

Hi Martha!

I understand that you'll be in the Tampa Bay area soon. I highly recommend you stop by one of the Columbia restaurants in our area. They were founded in 1905 by Cuban immigrant Casimiro Hernandez, Sr. They are Florida’s oldest restaurant and the world’s largest Spanish restaurant--and the food is fantastic. I think you'd like it!

I am wondering when you will bring your wonderful Martha-by-Mail pink, white & jadite cake stands to Macy's (or another retail outlet). It looks like I see them crop up in magazine pictures every now and then & I wish I could buy a set!

and I had a heated up frozen but originally fresh (Whole Foods) pizza sitting on a stool in my kitchen. Two dogs and my husband were in attendance. Drank beer.

I think that was Jim Lahey on one of your previous shows that you helped take the long loaves of bread out of the hot ovens. He wore a bandana on his head if I remember correctly. He has a real nice pizza place and I'm really impressed with the salads. I had no idea what lardon was so I Googled it - salt pork fat used to lard meat or bacon that is diced, blanched and fried. So I guess it’s not your regular bacon bits. If I should ever eat there, I’ll get the escarole salad with lardons!

Yesterday, I was going to advance order both the Encyclopedia of Crafts coming out March 31st and the Cupcake book debuting June 2nd but got sidetracked with a paint brush so I will do that today. I enjoy crafting so I’m really looking forward to that book. I hope your scratchy throat is better. Trish

Looks like 'a good time was had by all'! Hats off to Jim Lahey's success AND your successful books, Martha (and best-sellers, no less)! (We/I just LOVE you so!) Where I prefer a little cozier atmosphere, Mr Lahey's new Co. looks welcoming enough, and I do like the simplicity in the menu-printed placemats and the plain place settings and the carafes (of, looks like water(?) )

Gee whiz...forget the pizza! (no disrespect intended here - it looks good, too)...one can dine to a comfortable fill with the charcuterie alone! Your salad looked crisp and crunchy...then that warm, moist bread, with all the added accoutrements - yummyyummyformytummy!...MmmHmm!

Happy Monday, Martha! Hope you had a nice weekend at that 'secret' place. (You'll be telling us about it soon enough. [giggle] )
