A visit to Emeril's new office and his future kitchen!
Before the holidays, we paid a visit to Emeril in his MSLO office at the Starrett Lehigh building. Emeril was so gracious to show us his space and later, walked to the other side of the building, where an unused test kitchen is being transformed for his use. We’ll visit that area again, when it is complete.
As you can imagine, Emeril is a really, really nice guy who has a genuine passion for helping children in need. The Emeril Lagasse Foundation has raised considerable money to fund educational programs, life skills development, culinary training, and cultural enrichment within the New Orleans and Gulf Coast areas.
Please don't forget to visit Emeril's cooking blog! A fabulous recent addition to my blog circle.

Thank you Emeril for working with Make A Wish Foundation. My great nephew Rayce Cannon was recently approached by Make A Wish to grant him a wish. Rayce is four years old he faces a bone marrow transplant and open heart surgery very soon. Rayce's wish is to have his own enclosed playground in his backyard in hopes he can play like all the other children in a year or so from now.
Ermeril looks so happy, he's right at home in his new office and with this new chapter of his life.
The new team E & M!

I live in South Africa and really enjoyed watching the Martha Stewart show. I enjoy emeril's cooking and have attempted a recipe or 2 that he made on your show. The last Martha Stewart show was screened in South Africa about a month and a half ago and I do miss it, especially the cooking and crafts.
My son was very involved with a project called reach for a dream and remember the satisfaction he got whenever a child's dream came true.
May your foundation enjoy huge successes in helping children. Go Emeril!!

Hi, Martha,
What a great post from Laura and Eliad about their visit to Emeril in his MSLO office! I was happy to hear more about his efforts to help children in need in the New Orleans and Gulf Coast areas. He has quite a heart! The money raised by The Emeril Lagasse Foundation for educational programs, life skills development, culinary training, and cultural enrichment will certainly make a difference.
I wish we had the Planet Green Channel with "Emeril Green" where I live.
I can see why Laura would be salivating as I look at that vegetable wrap. Was it as tasty as it looks?
Thanks, Laura and Eliad, for the information and photographs!

I have always loved and admired Emeril. As a chef, I aspire to do the kind of good and inspire the kind of interest in food he has.
Two of my favorite people working together. It doesn't get a whole lot better than that!

What a nice and spacious environment to be ceative in. I'm sure many delicious and inspiring foods, ideas and creations will have their beginnings in the new kitchen areas. Looking forward to seeing the "before" and "after" photos of the makeover.
Thanks for the interesting photos!

I love this post! I am going to create an inspiration board with that cover from Everyday Food. I love both Emeril and Martha! You are such good teachers about living. I look forward to benefitting from your partnership. Also, the pictures from your island vacation helped with the gray skies of this week in Boston!

Yes, Martha, Emeril is a really really nice guy.

Hi Martha, Is Emeril's new kitchen his test kitchen? Very interesting to see where he works. I was unaware of all the charitable organizations he supports. His inspiration board is great, but I was disappointed that there were no pictures of his family. Surely they must be a great inspiration to him. His wife may be jeolous that your picture is so big! I look forward to seeing the new kitchen.

So fun to Emeril's new digs! Looks like a wonderful kitchen in the making, especially that wonderful view. I loved seeing Emeril's inspiration board - inspiring!

Hi Martha:
Emeril is a great chef. You are like sugar and he is like cream, when you whip them together you get something yummy. What is better than that? Its a great partnership.

It is commendable that Emeril does so much to help with developing the skills of children, our shining stars of the future who don’t all have positive forces in their lives. It melts my heart to read about the successful ones who took a golden opportunity and ran with it. Emeril is a wonderful role model for young and old alike. I’m so impressed with the purpose of that kitchen at the St. Michael’s Special school in New Orleans.
I look forward to seeing his renovated kitchen at the Starrett Lehigh building. Hmmm, I wonder what color he will choose. Trish
P. S. Martha, I made your pasta salad yesterday and it was delicious! I loved the Feta cheese which I don’t remember ever putting in any of my pasta salads. Thanks!

Emeril is so charming. I like it when you have him on the show Martha Stewart, you two have a fun familiar friendly chemistry. As if it's more fun than it is work, like you're cooking and visiting with a chum. More Emeril/Martha combos please and thank you!?

Emeril is such a good joe, a man with true passion for what he does! That's what I love about him. I love how he's bent over his plate of food, tending to every minute detail - creations that just exude from his soul! I didn't know the other facets of Emeril, however, and they make him a shining star even more in my book. I'm particularly fond of the instructional hands-on kitchen and gardening concepts (not to mention MakeAWish)...these children will be making sustainable memories AND will learn how to do tasks that will come in handy in their adult lives.
You know, in spite of my not enjoying cooking and possibly defending the concept to others, I do get concerned that, in our hurried, rushed, and eat-out-every-night society, many children aren't being taught kitchen basics/skills at home. (I luckily DO know "how"!) It's just like any skill, though...practice makes perfect - it doesn't have to be 'perfect', though - practice would just enable getting a meal on the table quicker and more effectively/efficiently. I, personally, could lament for more 'time' to lend to this effort, but I obviously choose other tasks in its place. (I'm giving myself a talking-to...[frown] )
Your partnership with Emeril, Martha, is definitely win/win, and I, as an avid viewer and fan, certainly am enjoying the relationship!

Barbara made a comment about not seeing any photos of Emeril's family in his office. He has very nice pictures there but for privacy reasons, we didn't want to show them.

Hi Martha, The addition of Emeril to your fabulous company certainly was a fantastic idea. I have enjoyed watching him for years on the Food Network. I love watching the two of you on your show now. His new office is fantastic and I love his inspiration wall. I, too, can't wait to see his new kitchen. Kudos to him for all of his wonderful foundation and other projects he is connected with. I love the garden he has for the school children in New Orleans. It reminds me of the garden Alice Waters has in California. I agree that he is a really nice guy. Thanks for sharing. Stay warm. Jan

Martha
I am watching you right now your show is on here at 11 AM.
I bet a zillion people have told you by now where you can buy a doggie fence, the ones you like, I replaced mine a few months ago had them for ages. I found mine at Petco do you have one in your area, sort of like a Pt Smart>
Also saw them in a catalog from Foster/Smith, maybe you can find them online. Mine our beige and bamboo., strong and 3 feet or so tall. Cost varies.( Colors I saw there were Beige, white, dark brown)
I use mine outside so they get a lot of weather wear, I use them on my porch so Bosley can have some sun and not get out should she a cat or squirrel and try to chase it.
I also bought my tall feeding bowl for her and her dog car ramp through Foster/Smith I use the ramp to load her in my Jeep to take her to the groomers /vet/rides. It saves my back a lot of wear and tear as she can't jump up inside like she could when she was a puppy, she is 13 now.(Colors- Black, brown, green) $99.00 weighs 16 pounds. Handles dogs up to 200 pounds.
Her arthritis is bad but she loves her ramp and her feeding bowls/water which now come up to her instead of her having to bend way down to eat, saves on her body. She is 65 pounds I can't lift her like I used to.(Colors -Beige, blue, green, red, black and white) $40.00 sturdy and light.
No, I don't work for any pet company.
I hope this information will help you or others in some way.

If you have not already found a home for them, I would gladly take the old appliances from the kitchen scheduled for Emeril's remodel! I am in the process of remodeling my kitchen and am doing so on a tight budget. Reusing appliaces is such a great green thing to do!

To Pam from California,
Thanks for the information about the fence, tall watering bowl, and ramp. They will be useful for my two dogs, who are getting older, and they will also save my back much wear and tear.

Hello, Martha,
Emeril is SUCH a cutie! And yes, your blog roll is THE BEST!
Posted by: tinay | January 15th, 2009 at 4:41 am
I've always loved Emeril and am the proud owner of some of his earlier cookbooks autographed by him! I must say, though, that the title of his show is grammatically incorrect! It's "Whose life is it anyway" not "Who's(who is) life is it anyway" How come no one on the show knew that? All of those production folks and no one noticed that the word was incorrect? Oh well, I'm just one of those people who notice these things!
