Sharing my own photos from the ASME awards
The other day, I blogged about receiving a lifetime achievement award from the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) and we posted many wonderful comments submitted by so many of you. Thank you very much! As you might have noticed, I’ve been a little busy this week and I just found these photos taken at the ASME luncheon on one of my memory cards. As you can see in these pictures, all those in attendance were so elated and proud. Please, take a look.

Congratulations on your Award Martha, its truly deserved.

Dear Martha,
Of course I have those three books! I'll tell you why: Your books are unique, informative, beautiful, and make my life easier. They are hard to find in Europe though. Your company should consider dedicating more attention to this huge market. Then you would be truly OMNIpresent!
Congratulations on your award. You sure deserve it!

I read about this event on your daughter's blog. She wasn't very impressed with the dessert (rainbow cake).

Dear Martha,
Congratulations on being honored for the Lifetime Achievement Award , you deserve it.
God bless you and your family.
In 1988 I graduated with a BA degree in Interior Design, got married to a great man and we were blessed with 3 wonderful kids to whom I dedicated all my time. One of my wedding gifts was your book Martha Stewart's Hors d'Oeuvres, I really treasured it and that is how I entered your world of art and creativity. Since then you are my inspiration in everything I do at home, entertaining, cooking, baking and designing. This does not stop here you have touched my family in one way or another.
I hope and wish that in the near future I will have the honor of meeting you.
Thank you and God bless
Sincerely,
Rowaida Flayhan

Hello
You & MSLO ASME attendees are just as fabulous as the content & covers of your publications.
Today I'll dress up for a job interview. I want a job with a relaxed & casual dress code (i.e. denim).
Bye

You deserve that award! congratulations! You looked absolutely fabulous. I wish I could have heard Matt's introduction. You certainly seemed to enjoy it. Wonderful work Martha!

Hi Martha,
You didn't just look 'pretty good', you looked real good! Black really sets off your hair and the earrings were bonus. I love the jacket!
A lot of the people in your pictures I have never heard of, but I certainly have seen your company officers over the years on TV and in Martha Stewart Living. I often wonder why I haven't seen some of them and then suddenly, here they are at an awards ceremony with you; like Eric Pike for instance.
It is so nice that so many of the original 18 are still with you and I would assume, equally elated with this honor. I am just happy that you all stuck together to give us one of the greatest magazines ever! Thank you so much for all that you do! Trish

Congratulations again, Martha. I always find your pictures of events interesting and informative. I make this comment in line of Mina L. who hopes for a job with a denim dress code. Mine is Carhartt and polar fleece. Consequently a majority of your pictures are a clue for me into the styles of the day.
Thanks.

As I peruse your photo gallery for each day's blog, I am usually thinking of what I will say for my opening line and in that particular day's post, and from the very first picture today, I tho't how especially beautiful you looked, Martha - you are just glowing, my wonderful friend. (You ask in one of your captions, "don't I look good?" - um, YEAHHHH(?)!! !! !! ) Then, I gasped (a 'good' gasp) out loud "Is that Darcy?!!" (like I knew her, or something [giggle] ) I knew she had just had her baby and didn't know she might be back to work as of yet (that's all...) She could be seen a little left of you in the first photo. (She is so dear! - a real cutiepie!)
As I intimated on your original ASME blog - well, I just can't find the proper superlatives to express my feelings without sounding like the everyday cliche. My happiness for and admiration of you is so deep, and as you might imagine, it's difficult to express the magnitude of that in the written word.
One of the styles of writing in your early books is that the text is written in your own words, as if you are there beside us, instructing us or telling your own story (that's what I like - THAT style!). I just have to share this little good thing that happened at my store this week. One of my customers purchased for me 'MS's Christmas' (copyright 1989) at a local flea market - she had been in my store and had seen some of your books that I had on a shelf (not for sale - for me to read, between customers). She, too, liked you, as we chatted a little. She was so kind to think of me, as she was an acquaintance and not someone whom I knew very well. It was just such a kind gesture, and yes, I DID have to send off an "old-fashioned hand-written" thank you note - it touched me so! I can now add this to my beloved Martha collection, and I'll enjoy, immensely, savoring each and every page! (Remember this book, Martha?!!...the notion was conceived in September that year, then written/photographed in real time. [so cool!] )
You know what I'll be doing this afternoon! [giggle]

Hi Martha, These are some of the most fantastic photos that you have shared with us so far! Not only do you look stunning, but everyone in the photos looks absolutely fabulous and so very happy. As I said before, this was a well deserved honor and I see everyone else thinks so, too. I love your outfit, your hairdo, your smile...Martha, you look SUPER! Thanks so much for sharing. Jan PS I missed your Martha's Table yesterday. When will it be rebroadcast on Sirius 112?

In the mid 90's our friend worked for Julia Child so we saw Julia on different occasions in Boston. I told Julia once that I really liked all the things you were doing. I called it variations on a theme. I still marvel at all you continue to do.
Julia's response which I'm paraphrasing, since this blog called it up from a deep sleep, was that she greatly respected your ability as a business woman. She spoke about how hard that was to accomplish. I told my friend what she had said and she said Julia talked about it all the time. I'm sure she told you that herself but I thought Julia would be nodding her royal head today in approval.
You have truly worked incredibly hard. I still have your Entertainment newsletters from the 80's in my food folders. Glancing back at them today I see that you have stayed with your main passions and have built on them.
You have more than earned great respect in the world.

Didn't anyone take a picture of you and your daughter to commemorate this honor? She has much to be proud of. So many have benefitted from the information you have conveyed through your publications, shows and television appearances, information that has elevated homemaking to a respected art.

Hi Martha,
Love the pictures!
And what other little surprises do you have that might be laying around, forgotten?! Well, whatever/wherever they are, I'm sure it won't take you a 'lifetime' to inform us! It's always a treat for us to be included in every detail (forgotten, or otherwise!). Thanks for keeping us in the loop, so-to-speak, and I'm sure, one day I'll find your hen-house blueprint on your website...hint,hint!
Well, anyway, I, too, forgot to tell you something at the book signing...I'm an LMT and I could have stood by your side massaging your conductor brevis, or at least I could have shown you the very best stretch for your forearms, wrists and hands! Fingers, too! See what you've done Martha? You make me want to share all of my good things, too!
You're too cool for words.
Have a great picture-taking weekend!

Dear Martha,
Congratulations!
I would just like to share with you the rebirth of my excitement in cooking using your monthly cook books. I was never a fan but I picked up one 2 years ago while purchasing my grocery order and have enjoyed them so much that we now have a monthly subscription as well as your body & soul magazine. I also sparked an interest for my 26 year old son that his wife bought him your latest cooking school book for Christmas and he has learned so much from your easy to follow directions.
My apologies for thinking differently and having missed out on so many great ways to make food exciting.
Thank-you!
