Betsy's kittens play in the stable
Last September, I reported about how Betsy, my stable manager, adopted two adorable kittens, which were found abandoned and hiding in a stone wall. Jump to seven months later, and Betsy's kittens are thriving. So far, the pair are true house pets, rarely venturing outdoors. There are several birds of prey flying around the farm and these kitties are still small enough for Betsy to be concerned. To broaden their horizon, she does take them on field trips and what better place to play than in the stable?

These are absolutely adorable!

Hi Martha, Welcome back to "blogville". I love the photos of the kittens in the barn. They are so photogenic and the expressions on their faces are great. Blaze looks so freaked out, like, what the heck did I do so wrong that made you bring me here, these other creatures are too huge for me!! Tipper's pose for his portrait is classic cat. He looks like he's thinking, of course, you may take my picture. I know I'm a handsome boy and my subjects should have pictures of me for posterity! What lovely "critters". Thanks, they made me smile.

What lovely cats. Infact Blaze looks like my cat Penny, who unfortunately passed away three years ago at the age of 15. I love black and white cats.

Martha, promise you'll give Clive a big, sloppy kiss from me. I'm nuts about him! Look at those eyes...that face. *Swoon*

Kittens! Love this post, just the perfect thing to look at on a wet monday morning. Whay are the faces of kittens (and happy donkeys) so uplifting?

These are terrific photos! Thank you for sharing! I simply love Clive and Martyn. I can not believe how fast Tipper and Blaza have grown. Betsy is taking such good care of all of them.

Thanks, Martha. These are beautiful kittens. Tuxedo cats always are first in my heart. Right now I have 2 of them. B J is 19yrs old. He was born on my carport with 5 other babies. I kept B J and 2 others, but Misty and J D have all ready gone to Rainbow Heaven. Along with B J, I have Sweet Pea. I found him in a bugggy at a Wal-Mart store. He was about 5 weeks odl. Some one had left in the a shoe box in the baby seat. It was 90 degrees and he had no water and no shade. I was going to take him and find him a new home, but he knew he had found a softie and he was all ready home when I put him down. He is now 4yrs old and is a great source of joy in my life. His antics make me laugh and he can cheer me up when I have the blues.
Betsy; Thanks for taking in two foundlings. They will bring much happiness to you. Enjoy them and love them and they will be with you for a very long time.

Cute, adorable and healthy looking! Betsy has taken good care of them just like we knew she would. I love the look on Clive's face and Martyn seems to be wondering, 'who the heck is this strutting past my stall like he owns the place!' Thanks for this update on Betsy's kittens. It made my day! Hay Martha, how about an update on the Chicken Coop? Any new chicks this year?

How lucky those two kittens found Betsy. And how lucky for her that she has their wonderful companionship!

Well, as all of you can imagine, I CANNOT look at any of these pictures without talking right out loud to myself as I 'turn the pages' of this 'album'!... Black and white!...my mostest [giggle] favored feline color combo! Those white whiskers and eyebrows - absolutely b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l! In picture #3, Tipper is a most beautiful specimen - yes, it's a common pose amongst cats but stunning, nonetheless. (I can't help myself...) [giggle]
I'm sure once the new smells and playmates are gotten used to, the stables will be a wonderful place to hang out on lazy summer afternoons (and even chilly winter days!) I'm sure Martyn and Clive want to say 'hi' and make some new friends!
...Blaze!...Tipper!...here kittiekittiekittie...
=^..^=

The kittens are adorable! It's so much fun to watch them play. How's Clive? I haven't seen the donkeys in a long time....are they enjoying this beautiful weather?

I am trying to find out the name of a bush, that
my mother who is 87 has been looking for. She
has told me that they were everywhere at one time.
We live in Maryland. My mom said they used to call them Bud Bushes. They don't produce flowers ,
just a red bud. She wants one for her backyard, but we don't know what they are. Could you please
let me know if you know what they are? If I could find one it would make her very happy.
Thank you
Therese

Hi Terese - I think you are talking about a tree called a Red Bud. They are, indeed, lovely and are blooming right now in the Northeast. Once the little flowers, which emerge right out of the bark, have faded, the tree is covered with delightful foliage. One thing, as I learned from experience, Red Buds do not like to get their feet wet, so if you live in an area that floods, they are not a good choice to plant.

Hi Martha and Betsy, Wow, those kitties sure are the cutest little babies! Betsy, you sure have done a great job of raising them. They look so healthy with their lovely fur coats and bright eyes. I'll bet they will get used to the horses and donkeys real soon and have a great time visiting the stable from now on. You are both great people who obviously love all animals. Thank you for all you do God's wonderful creatures. Jan

Dear Martha, blaze is somthing else.
Mom and I Had two cats Reagan who lived to be 17 and squeaky lived to be 15. The best place for animals to play is in the barn or stable. My
first girl friend had horses, she taught me how to kiss, we would get in the wheat trulis and closed the lid. They were the good old days, sure would be nice to go back

Great pictures. Blaze resembles Willie, whom I took in as a stray back in 1995, a great deal. I love tuxedokitties. I am also always happy to read or hear about stray cats being rescued and adopted. According to my husband, who grew up on a farm, cats and horses have a special rapport.

I LOVE seeing horses reactions to other animals - like cats and kittens, goats, puppies, even small children. They are often so, so curious about other living beings - and can be so tender and gentle. There is a living being in there that is curious about the world and filled with wonder about other living creatures in it. I absolutely cherish the time I get to spend with my horse. A bad day at the barn is better than a good day at the office! And you know what - very few bad days at the barn!!

Blaze is so cute, he looks like my girl Cracker, yes Cracker, her sister is pure black except for her belly her name is Pookie. I am glad you love cats as much as I do. I have 4 I need to get adopted out if there is any one in Lakeland Fl. email me.
