A Pink Party
I went to a really fun party recently held by Darcy Miller's parents (Darcy is the Editorial Director of Martha Stewart Weddings) at their apartment in New York City. When I opened my invitation, it read "No more blues…..think pink! Come celebrate spring." I really didn't know what to expect, but one thing for sure - there was definitely a pink theme to this party. Guests were instructed to leave all negative feelings at the door and to just enjoy the lively spring color of pink. This wasn't a difficult assignment, as the entire apartment was glowing warmly and filled with music supplied by www.elanartists.com. Come and see how clever and delightful this event was.

What a fabulous party! I love this idea. I'm in the middle of wedding planning and keep going back to the idea for a pink theme. It just gives such a lovely, happy glow.

LOVE the pictures you took of yourself in the mirror!

What is it about the color pink? Pink seems to excite most people including me! I have enjoyed all of your posts but today's post is near the top of my favorites. I LOVE pink and someday I plan to do a pink room. I also LOVE Preston Bailey's work!
Martha, I just remembered that you dressed your entire guest cottage (in Maine) in pink and it was so dreamy. I hope you haven't changed it because the decor looked very timeless and classy.
My favorite color combination is Pink/Platinum ...great combo for any party theme.
Darcy's mom is beautiful and the old saying, "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" rings true with Darcy and her sweet daughter.
I'm guessing that Madge Miller's personally is vibrant and bubbly. Anyone that can pull off a pink party with men in attendance has a great personality! Am I correct with my analysis?
I'm decorating my niece, Devan's, entire graduation party in Pink this coming Friday in New Hampshire. Her mom, Lynn, would have done a beautiful decorating job but she died in a horrific car accident on Devan's senior prom night (Mother's Day Eve). I feel the color PINK will help uplift the party. I made miniature photo frames (displaying Lynn's photo) with pink rhinestones for all guests to wear at the graduation.
Thank you so much for this wonderful pink post! It was great timing for me.
Sincerely,
Gloria

Love it! Pink is such a great color for eating areas as well... our dining room is rose-pink, and it makes for such a warm and yummy gathering place...

Daisy and Ella are so cute - just like their Mom. Why didn't you wear one of your hot pink outfits that you look so nice in? I'm not much for pink but this pink party was quite beautiful and a clever idea. I got a kick out of you taking a picture of yourself in the mirror and of the guy on the skateboard. I bet he felt it was his lucky day! Thanks again for sharing. Trish

Hi Martha!
What is it about Darcy Miller that just makes one want to smile? Same thing happens when I see her dear children. Nice to get a close-up peak at a beautiful family who has turned being in the pink into something special and cheerful!
Her message to 'leave the blues outside the door' is one that I, too, have been working on...haven't we all?
Anyway, didn't have any 'pink' gladiolus but just like you always say, "bring some cut flowers into your home to brighten your day." so I did...and 'it' did! Next year, 'pink' glads!
Just be 'GLAD'!
(Thanks for the gentle reminder!)

Love, love, love the idea of leaving the "blues" behind. That's a concept that we call need to be thinking of now-a-days.
Thanks for sharing all of these uplifting pictures. What fun for all!

What a well-thought-out, fun, festive little springtime party! It looked like alot of fun (and I mean it!) I've always tho't that Darcy was a doll, and we all can see who she gets it from - her mother looks as adorable as she! Her girls, too, are going to follow suit, as they're always so precious when they're on your show, while helping out, or just sitting in the audience.
I appreciate pink, girly things, but admittedly, I'm not a fan of the color, as earth-tones, browns, and oranges go best with my strawberry-blonde hair and freckled face. I've seen women with copper-penny-died hair and bright pink lipstick on their lips, and I wonder to myself 'what are you thinking?!' [giggle]
By the way...I miss you already but have a trusted friend (she knows who she is [wink] ) that will keep me on the up-n-up when Summer Session draws near...I'll see you then, I guess...
(...and on Twitter, of course...) [giggle]
Have a wonderful summer, my wonderful friend!

In LOVE with this party! It's a great idea and certainly would keep everyone's mood perked up! I have four children, the youngest being the only girl. I think it's safe to say that a pink-themed party will be in her future!!
Thank you for sharing! I always appreciate new party ideas! Yours are always the best!

This reminds me of a story my sister told me when she was just out of college living in New Haven. She and her friend were looking for a restaurant to visit one Sunday afternoon in New York City. They came across the name of a place called THE PINK TEA CUP. The 2 got very dressed up in their favorite pink suits and dresses, with matching pink bags, jewelry and of course bright pink lipstick.
When the 2 very fancily dressed girls from CT entered the restaurant - they realized even with all the pink on they were a little out of place. THE PINK TEA CUP turned out to be a run down soul food restaurant! When they walked in the door, people could not help but stare and wonder what these girls were up to.
The good news is the 2 had a lot of great Chicken and Dumplings, along with a lot of great laughs.

Hi Martha,

A pink party to chase the blues away - what a brilliant idea!
I was pleasantly surprised to see 'Domaine Ott' being served. I know the vineyard in the south of France. (Are you sure it was champagne though, Martha? It looks like their rosé wine - which is lovely, too!)

Awww this looked like such a fun event!! I want to organize a pink party sometime this summer and wanted to bake the red velvet cake from this recipe http://www.howcast.com/videos/139827-How-To-Make-Red-Velvet-Cake It's not exactly pink but maybe I could make the frosting pink. Any other suggestions? I've made a red velvet cake before using the recipe above and it turned out extremely well and it was so easy to make.
