Cartier 100th Anniversary Party, Kate Hudson, Sir Elton John and more
Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Cartier 100th Anniversary Party held at Cartier's flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York City. Cartier, the renowned French jeweler and watchmaker was founded in Paris in 1847. This celebration was to commemorate 100 years of Cartier in America and I must say, the event was star-studded. It was also an occasion to celebrate the release of renowned fashion photographer, Bruce Weber's new book called Cartier I love You. I attended this event with Kevin Sharkey, whom we can thank for taking these pictures with my Canon G10.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time making new memories. Thanks for sharing it with all of us!

THE PHOTOS THEMSELVES ARE CARTIER SPARKLERS!
As Virginia Woolf once wrote that in life there are diamonds to be found within dustpans . . .
. . . I see these photos and know many of us have found ours.
Indeed,very lovely.

Allow me to begin writing today, only to declare that 'I am an American girl'! [giggle]
Last week, Martha, when you twittered you were at a Cartier event, I twittered back 'hubba hubba!' This get-together, captured thru your photos, looked absolutely fabulous. I just smiled and smiled the whole way thru the gallery - I could just feel the excitement as if I was there. The nostalgia of early days was enjoyable - to see the heritage of Cartier thru the years and the movie stars who donned such gorgeous jewels.
A concept that is incongruent to my conservative self is that I am an avid proponent in declaring that a woman can NEVER have too much jewelry. [giggle] OMGoodness, I LOVE jewelry! My one grandmother loved jewelry, and she passed that passion down to me...let's just say that she indulged me at a very young age (and I'm not talking costume jewelry, either)...it's all her wonderful fault!
Your hat that you will wear today at your luncheon WILL be beautiful, Martha!...I really like what Hannah did with it on yesterday's show! (That Hannah!...she is something, isn't she?!) You have your own gems all around you, Martha, right there within your staff!
Sunshine to all! (again, liquid/other)
=^..^=

Just the word "Cartier" conjures up visions of elegance, tradition and timelessness. What a lovely party. Great pictures.

Re: Your appearance on the "Today Show" May 6, 2009. So excited to try another one of your "scratch" cakes, I bought the ingredients I needed for your cake, and I wanted to make the lemon variety. Well, I have never had such a FLOP in my life! The cake was heavy and the frosting, although I cooked it to 150 degrees, was raw meringue. Also, the instructions, although my sister and I went over them carefully and followed in the same manner, were not written
comprehensively. We have made many of your recipes with success, but this, alas, was a FLOP!

Hi Martha,
Kevin took some great pictures! I'm not familiar with all of the posers but everyone looks like they were having a great time. Have Kevin take more pictures - then we get to see you once in awhile instead of always being behind the camera! I look forward to seeing you on Jimmy Fallon tonight - I don't normally watch but will with you and your babies as a guests. Trish

Hi Martha, Hope your power is back on and that they discover the cause. Power outages can be very frustrating. Would you believe the sun actually came out this morning?!!! HALLELUJAH!!! Enjoyed your blog about the 100th anniversary of Cartier. What a fabulous company. Looks like you had a really good time and Kevin did a pretty good job of photographing for this blog. Kudos, Kevin! Can hardly wait to watch Jimmy Fallon tonight...Hope I can stay awake that late! Have a great day, everybody. Jan

I love your new book about crafts, I have tried the paper flowers for decoration for our scholarship funder raiser. I had only 18 tables to decorate so it took a couple of days but they came out great for a spring look. I can't wait to try more of the crafts in the book.

Martha,
Your new hair style is so pretty…it’s great for spring & summer.
Vintage Cartier is not easy to find and it was fun seeing some vintage in your photos. I wonder if Bruce Weber's new book has some photos of vintage Cartier pieces.
I have been anxiously waiting for your Cartier post since you wrote on Twiiter about attending the party.
Thanks so much!
~Gloria
