Promoting my new Cupcakes book on the Today Show, behind the scenes
On Monday I told you about the very first book-signing event for my brand new Cupcakes book at the RJ Julia Bookstore in Madison, Connecticut. And yesterday, I featured Cupcakes on my regular appearance on the Today show. We, at Martha Stewart Living, were well aware of how much people adore cupcakes, and it only made sense to compile this tome of 175 favorite and delicious cupcake recipes, complete with plenty of tips and techniques. I hope you enjoy these photos and video clip from the Today show.

Absolutely Lovely!
I just adore the ice cream cone cupcake, with the hot fudge running down, delish!

Hi Martha, Yummmmmy!!! What a wonderful blog about your fantastic new book Martha Stewart's Cupcakes! I can hardly wait to get mine next week at Costco. I sure hope they still have some. The last time I was there, they only had 4 of your Encyclopedia of Crafts books left. They sell out rather quickly. The cupcakes you showed on the Today Show sure look delicious and I am so anxious to make all of them. I know your new book will really be fun! Jan

Hi Martha!
I was fortunate to see your cupcake segment yesterday on Today. I was busy trying to bake a pineapple up-side down cake, and somewhat distracted, but I heard your voice coming from the living room and ran to see what was up.
I loved the sunflower cupcake idea and thought I should try it with the pineapple up-side cake by filling the center with blackberries and leaving the pineapple exposed around the edges.
Thanks, Martha! You never fail to inspire!
Wish they would give you a little more time to teach us when you appear weekly on Today.

Hi Martha,
I also wish your segments on the Today show were longer. Yesterday's wasn't even a full five minutes but I happened to be in the room when it came on earlier than usual so I was able to watch. At least you managed to show us a few decorated cupcakes which all looked delicious by the way. The cupcake book which I saw at Costco is also 'delicious' looking so I'll be getting it. I had to think about it first because I don't do much baking but decided anyone who passes up that book will be missing out. I have a feeling I'll be inspired to try out several of the recipes. I don’t have a stand mixer though so I hope my hand mixer will suffice.
I was so busy yesterday I forgot to comment on the Webby blog. That was clever of you to use 140 characters ‘or less’ to introduce Biz Stone and you pretty well summed up Twitter as well. I laughed when I saw the OMG, but abbreviations are definitely a big part of the operation. As with any social media site, there are those who misuse it so thank goodness for the block feature which prevents them from sending us their smut. On another note, I look forward to the year you win a Webby either for your site or your blog. Wait a minute, how come you haven’t won one yet and maybe as Teacher of the Year on the Web. Wake up you webby people! Trish

Martha,
I was so sad to read about your beautiful cat Mozart. I just read your update on Twitter. I didn't realize he was nineteen so he certainly did live a long life. You will miss him but know that Paw Paw and Teeny and Weeny will be with him now. I've been your fan for so many years that I think I love your pets as much as much as you do. Be strong; I will be thinking about you. Trish

Martha,
I also have to say your books are the very very best for encouraging creativity. Not only do you books stimulate but you also have a strong base of believers who poke and prode the slow learners along. Their motto is "everyone that gets on the Martha Stewart train stays on the train------no quiting a good thing".
Trish I'm looking at you.

So sorry to hear about Mozart. Our Coco was 19 when he passed away last December. They take a piece of your heart with them.

I only KNOW, Martha, that this new edition/addition to your publications will be another best-seller! Congratulations on it's release and it's (already!) success!
It was especially refreshing to read all the posts from your Madison, CT booksigning blog earlier this week - you could just feel the excitement and enthusiasm in folks' words as they wrote about being there and meeting you and getting to chat with you a short spell. It will make their 'life', let alone their day - you touch soooo many lives - so many, I can't even fathom.
Please accept a heartfelt hug from me for the loss of your little Mozart. You take good care of your animals so well, and I know he was loved and cared for and doted over which gave him a long, happy, and secure life. God has blessed you with a huge heart for animals and knowledge for how to properly care for them. Mozart is in His keeping now.

Martha...Tina. I'm so sorry for your loss. Nice to know he'll be with Paw Paw AND Big Martha! Remember what Queen Elizabeth said? 'Grief is the price we pay for love.' It'll all work out. I love you.

Another exceptional book, Martha. As with "Living", the photography stands out for me. I love how these photos inspire me. It's like I can literally taste or smell or feel the texture of these delicious delicacies so skillfully photographed on those pages! Well done!

Can't wait to get my hands on that book! I've really enjoyed the Cupcake-of-the-Day in my inbox leading up to it, too.
By the way, that WAS a fun little song they pulled out for the Today Show segment. Where do they find those?! Did you ever find out the song name/artist?

Dear Martha,
I am so sorry to hear about Mozart. My two cats growing up also lived to be 19 and 20. What a wonderful life they all had.
Mozart will be looking down upon you and your menagerie, knowing that he was one of your first loves!
Warmest regards,
Kim in N.J.

To You and Your Family of Animals....
We here on Crane Street are preparing a remembrance moment at 11:59 to close 19 years of days, of memories, of MOZART.
Tonight in the outdoor air there will be sounds of life, and there will be brushes of times gone by, seen bright in the dark. A new soul joins this evening with your blessing, your acceptance, and your love.
I wish you a night of peace as this day of, now times gone by, gives you the nicest of memories....and tomorrow.
With Love,
Six Weimaraners and Friend

I sat and read your cupcake cookbook like a novel--I've never had so much fun!
I choose the chocolate malted at random to try first, yummy. This is, in my opinion, the perfect cookbook. Easy to read recipes, clear instructions, pictures with every recipe and it ends with all the decorating and displaying ideas one would need for any occasion.
I don't know when I've EVER been so impressed with such a complete cookbook.
My goal is to make every single recipe at least once.
Co-workers, look out!

I am truly sorry for the loss of Mozart. I have lost two felines at that age and there is always a place in my heart where they reside and I'm sure that Mozart will always be with you.

I am sad to read that Mozart passed away. I have followed your writings of him over the years. My cat died at 17 years a few years ago so I am feeling your loss. Let us have more news on your cats. I would love to read more about them being a cat lover and I am sure there are a lot of us out there! No offense Sharkey and Francesca.

This was an amazing purchase for me, I have already learned so many new ways to do the basics. I really appreciate the effort that was put into this book. I link to the book on Amazon on my blog anytime I do one of your recipes. Love it!

I purchased your cupcake cookbook the day it came out. My daughter and I sat there going over it (and drooling) page by page. Took us about 2 hours. She decided on making the Tiramisu cupcakes which were a huge success. Thanks Martha.

Martha you have lead the repopularization of the cupcake. I've recently tweeted (http://twitter.com/LarryTenney) and posted on several times on facebook wall (http://facebook.com/larrytenney) and various fan pages my belief that you'll repopularize the Gourmet Burger ... after you ran The Hamburger Show twice this Fall, I note that Vanity Fair ran a Burgers feature and an LA WB Affliate (KTLA) has also run a spot this last month on Gourmet Burgers. Then 25 Degrees, a gourmet burger spot in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel opened a second site right here in Surf City (Huntington Beach, CA).
You should Consider a Hamburgers Book for release about Father's Day!
