My many talented employees display their art
You may remember a blog I posted last year regarding an art show of works created by MSLO employees. It was such a huge success that we decided to hold another one this year. I was especially happy to learn that our previous show had submissions from thirty-five employees and this most recent event nearly doubled that number. It's always so interesting to learn new things about my employees and to see, first hand, how talented they are. An art show, such as this one, also allows people who are not normally thought of as being creative, to display the talents they practice outside of their daily work.
This year there was also a DJ to help provide a terrific atmosphere and the event was also catered by Peter Callahan. An invitation was extended to the outside world, drawing other members of the New York art world, including gallery owners, artists, dealers, press, and bloggers. It really was a beautiful evening and I was proud of the 'downtown, hip sophisticated vibe.' Many thanks to MSLO event coordinator, Erin Furey, who conceptualized and produced this amazing event!

I enjoyed the segment on the Martha Show about this event, and it's great to see it here in more detail. A talented staff indeed!
A request, Martha: how about having Darcy share her "family" submission in more detail on a TV segment. I'm sure there are many of us who admire Darcy's many talents and would love to see her explain more about the memory pieces she has created.

Wow!! That show looks so cool. What an amazing space, and what talented employees you have! Most of the magazines and products your company produces seem to reflect a very narrow and focused idea (as it should be -- everything works together). I'm sure the staff's ideas make their way into your products in a mutated, creative way. But it's interesting to see what ideas and craziness they have been hiding away in all their pure glory.

I LOVE THIS BLOG ENTRY!!!
I wish I had more time this morning to gaze about... I can't wait to look through it again after work today.
How great it is that the MSLO employees have a boss that is truly interested and supportive of their creativity.
Thanks to ALL for a beautiful and rich start to my otherwise, typical and mundane Tuesday!

Ever since I started following you, I’ve been aware that you have many creative people working in your company. They come up with so many nifty ideas so it’s pretty obvious that they work as a team. I thing it is nice that you have provided them an opportunity to showcase some of their creativity. I also think to just be in a room with a handful of them as they sit around a table and brainstorm would be very interesting. Thanks for sharing the gallery with us. Trish

Showcasing the talents of these individuals is a testament to the human spirit's creativity in all of us; kudos to the 'artists'.

Some cool stuff there,so nice to see that you keep your staff #1 on the list of your priorities, and they are all talented in their own right, the open clerestory is amazing, what a great spot to show anything, who picked that ,if you don`t mind me asking?!!!?thats a talent in itself. Also, know it`s for the employee`s, but would like you to sneak one of your own private pieces that you have done;and ........

Your employees are very talented! Having all this creativity around you must be a great environment to work in.
I have a question, though: are these all pieces the employees were working on already, or did they make them specifically for the show?

Hi Martha, What a delightfully talented crew you have at MSLO. This terrific event certainly showed that this is the perfect place for all of them to find inspiration and make a living at the same time. Your leadership has made a world of difference in what they are able to accomplish and I am sure they would all agree. Your TV show today about your new book, 'Dinner At Home' was absolutely wonderful. Seeing Dan Hinkley again was fantastic. He is also great at what he does. Your appearance on the Today show was also wonderful. What a perfect day this was. Jan

The art show featuring your staff was terrific. I organized a smaller scale show a few years ago when I was teaching art.
I love your show and your website (I refer to it quite often). Right now I am adapting your fleece hats into monsters. I am an artist/crafter and monsters are one of the themes in my work right now. I'm a stay at home mom until next year year when I'll go back to teaching. I've been doing craft shows and have a couple of holiday bazaars in my schedule.
I would love you to check out my stuff.

Hi Martha, I heard someone was asking what can be given out for Halloween rather than candy. You said you couldn't think of anything healthy. I came up with the idea of freezer pops. I've been giving it out for the past 11 yrs and the kids love them. Something different than candy and they can take them home and freeze them. Easy to check when the parents are checking the bag for tampered items. And is less expensive than buying candy.

I record and wash your program when I have time at night. I enjoy a lot to have a chance to wash a little bit the art from the employees from your company.
I hope you can do a program or programs where you can show each peaces of the exposition with the artist.
Sugestion - you can do similar competition for your viewers with some prices. I bet you will discover many talents.
