If everyone gave just one dollar!
In case you did not read my blog last week about the Martha Stewart Center for Living Gala, which is happening on November 10th , I am posting this request again. The Center for Living is the premier facility for the coordinated and comprehensive out patient care of older adults who still lead robust and vital lives. The Center is dedicated to the memory of my beloved mother, who passed away at 93 and who still remains very dear to my heart. In this tough economic environment, I am asking everyone who reads my blog or tweets to please click on the link below and donate $1, $3, $5, $10, or whatever you can spare. Thank you all for your support. www.marthastewart.com/centerforliving.
Also, don't forget to go to Charitybuzz.com where you can bid on some really great items:
Dinner at my house
A private garden tour of my property (I will lead the garden tour along with my gardener) and lunch.
A paid intership at MSLO
AND MUCH MORE!! BID TODAY!
1 Here I am with my beloved late mother and my niece Sophie at the ground- breaking for the Center for Living in 2006.

I was happy to contribute in response to your Tweet Martha, in honor of MY beloved late mother.

Dear Martha, It was my sincere pleasure to contribute under the name Martha follower, in honor of your late mother Mrs Kostyra. God bless you and your family and protect you always.

The highest accomplishment a mother can achieve is being a proud parent. Martha, your accomplishments consistently kept your mom proud and it sure showed in the first photo of this post. Big Martha reached her achievements in life.
I clicked on the link to make a donation and the link failed to open. I will try again later in the day.

Hi Martha,
In all the years I have been one of your faithful followers, I have not heard or read anything about you ever asking for money for anything. I do know you have given a lot and have been there for your friends whenever they needed you and now that you need us, I am here for you. I gave a bit more than a dollar but even if it was just a dollar that I had, it would have been yours because I know how those dollars add up.
~
I have a feeling it was difficult for you to ask us for a donation even if it was just $1.00, but I am happy that you did because I know how dear the Center for Living is to you and that it cost money to maintain it. I wish you great success at your Gala on the 10th and hopefully with the help of all your friends on Twitter and this blog, you will get all the funds you need to maintain that wonderful facility for a healthy length of time. To give is my reward. Thank you for asking. Trish

Martha
I really admire you with all the struggles you have been thru. My Niece was one of the lawyers on your case she always talked very highly of you and she said you were kind to her. I look to you for some strenght I am going thru a very difficult time. I have made mistakes in my life I regret deeply and hope I can display the same grace you do. Alice

You're exactly right, Martha! - if ALL of us could contribute just $1, each of us CAN make a difference! That really helps to put things into perspective! We, by nature, think that we can't make a difference (or we don't have the money), but with your number of followers on Twitter alone (1,650,000+!!), $1 each can surely be spared! Even a couple hundred thousand of us could make an impression!
~
I am only happy to retweet your own Twitter tweets about your Center for Living. Many of my own followers may not necessarily be as in love with you as I (I'm head over heels! [giggle]), but they may find goodness in their hearts to give to this very worthy cause.
~
I have asked the Lord to bless my own meager contribution and trust that He'll use it for good to help others in need.
~
May the Lord richly bless you as well, my friend.

My brother is a geriatrician and I am a pediatrician. Despite the difference in ages for our patient population, I see a lot of similarities to what we do. One of the principles of the American Academy of Pediatrics is to have a "medical home" for all patients, and I think this applies to older patients as well. Best wishes with your Center for Living initiative.

I will donate in honor of my late mother who passed away in 2005 & my late father who passed this summer. I saw firsthand through caretaking responsibilities how incredibly strong the mind-body connection is. It's vital to have services like you are providing.

Hi Martha, Thanks for the great photos of your beautiful Mom and some of those at your Center for Living. I feel it is one of the best projects that you have done so far. What a thoughtful place to develop to help the elderly in your area. I sure wish I lived close enough to go there if I needed help. A great place! I hope you have a super day on Nov. 10th (and every other day, too!) and the donations keep coming in. Your Mom is very dear to me, also. My wonderful Mom was only 11 days older that yours and how I wish she could have gone to your Center for Living. In my heart, I feel she could have lived much longer if she had the kind of care that is provided there. Thanks for your very special Center for Living. Jan

.
Hello Martha,
.
I have my student interns working on a campaign of similar note that I tweeted you about.
.
I will take my AN EVEN DOZEN Campaign for my charity's 12th year AND DO A MATCH PLAN to benefit your request. I believe everyone I reach can participate within the dozen dollar category.
.
For every one of my donors who wishes to write a dozen dollar check to National Cancer Society for Animals, they must write half of it to your campaign.
.
My reasoning? I like that you keep lists, work round the clock, have an appetite for a jungle full of preoccupations and can handle Jay Leno with a head shake!
.
Truly, whenever I'm down to nothing and give even that away, good things return. I look forward to turning my college students lose on this one, for my animals with cancer AND with endearment for the mothers we both had -- once upon a time.
.

We enjoy your show.
