This week on my regular appearance on the Today Show, co-anchors Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira joined me to prepare recipes from the Beyond Ice Cream story in the August issue of Martha Stewart Living magazine. There are plenty of summer occasions that call for a great dessert, but who wants to heat up the kitchen by turning on the oven?  This collection of recipes spend time in the fridge or on the stovetop, which certainly helps to keep things cooler!  I hope you try these desserts - they’re delish!
1 Matt and Meredith joined me to prepare recipes from the Beyond Ice Cream story, beginning on page-76, in the August issue of Martha Stewart Living magazine.
2 This is the August issue filled with great ideas - look for it on newsstands!
3 It takes just seven ingredients to make a real family favorite. People can't get enough of chocolate, banana, and graham cracker icebox cake.
4 For the very best flavor, use bananas that are really ripe.
5 Chopped milk chocolate is placed in a bowl for melting.
6 Here I am pouring a warm creme anglaise-like custard, through a sieve, over the chocolate to melt it.
7 Look how beautiful and delicious this slice of chocolate, banana, and graham cracker icebox cake looks.
8 These are the ingredients for the mixed-berry slump.
9 A mix of blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries simmer over medium heat.
10 Here I am explaining how to make the biscuit dough for the mixed-berry slump or grunt.
11 This task got Meredith's hands quite messy.
12 We joked that she was rendered useless!
13 In no time at all, our hands were clean for the next step.
14 Other wonderful no-bake desserts in the story include peach melba spoom, no-bake fudge brownies, and an amazing no-bake cherry cheesecake
15 Behind-the-scenes
16 The no-bake cherry cheesecake topped with balsamic vinegar enticed sweet cherries
17 Another look at the chocolate, banana, and graham cracker icebox cake
18 These are the no-bake fudge brownies studded with peanuts and flakes of sweetened coconut.
19 The peach melba spoom is made with raspberries, peaches and a frozen meringue.
20 Here I am with Zac Efron who appeared on Today to promote his new movie, Charlie St. Cloud.
Now, I need a midnight snack. All those desserts look so yummy!!!!

Martha's blog is so wonderfully organized, I especially love the slide-show, it's a really good way to showcase pix
***BTW- the pic of Martha with Zac Efron reminds me of when I was a teen I had a pic of Martha with Busta Rhymes in a dress, Martha is always down with the hottest pop stars***
The August issue was great and I may make some of those delicious puddings. You always look like your having fun on the Today show and it's always good to see the magazine in action. But as for going to buy the issue, well I bet everyone who reads the blog has it and outside the USA it's a Hurculean effort just to get regular issues! Thanks for sharing again.

Hi Martha,
I have two copies of the August issue. My home delivery copy just says “Summer, Simplified” and the store copy lists more of what is inside. @MS_Living on Twitter said there were three different covers and I’m still looking for the third one. Any hints? I feel like I’m doing the Hocus-Focus puzzle in the Sunday comics – you know, trying to spot the differences between panels! Lol Btw, the August cover is nice and bright and summery looking. I like it a lot.

I watched you Tuesday on the Today show and wanted to taste every one of those no-bake desserts! Guess I better get busy and I’m glad I don’t have to turn the over on. Thanks Martha. Trish
