The Home Depot Managers Meeting in Vegas
As you may know, Martha Stewart Living has a growing line of wonderful products for the home and garden at The Home Depot. For example, we offer beautiful kitchens, top-quality paint, carpeting, closet systems, and wonderful patio furniture. And, I’m happy to report, that more great merchandise will be introduced next season, which brings me to the purpose of this blog.
Once a year, The Home Depot hosts a Managers Meeting, with more than 3,000 employees and vendors in attendance. This event is the actual unveiling of all the new products, which will be placed in stores next season. This year’s event took place in Las Vegas, where The Home Depot team set up a replication of an actual store in the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. My team and I were invited to the “Product Walk” where we saw all of our new merchandise set up. I spoke about my design and branding philosophy to many hundreds of Home Depot associates. It was very exciting to see how the Martha Stewart Living brand is growing at The Home Depot and we are looking forward to presenting those new products to all of you!
Here we are outside of the Mandalay Bay, South Convention Center, where a fleet of golf carts was waiting to take us around.
My golf cart was a really deluxe model. Here I am with Daryl Matheny from The Home Depot, who was my gracious companion for the afternoon.
I really loved driving this eco-friendly electric cart and here I am with Mike Stetz from American Sports Works. http://www.amsportworks.com
There was an outdoor rodeo course set up, where store managers could test drive all the latest moving vehicles.
Of course, I tested the performance of the Bulldog and I was so impressed with how quiet it is and how well it handled.
Nick Teta provided me with security while in Vegas.
We visited the area where my kitchen designs were on display.
This handsome design is called Ox Hill.
Next season will feature new and clever ways of configuring each kitchen.
Stacking two cabinets makes a very handsome china cabinet.
But the combinations are limitless!
Look how our Corian countertop is integrated so smoothly with the Corian sink. It's practically seamless - so very clean!
You can see how nicely finished even the insides of the cabinets are.
And this shows that by grouping three brackets together, your kitchen design becomes even more decorative.
Later, we went to the paint display area. The chart on the table is called a product knowledge set. It shows how our paints coordinate beautifully with our carpets.
Many Home Depot managers gathered to hear me speak and watch me do a paint demo. Behind me is Steven Frye - Brand Manager The Home Depot Business Line from Akzo Nobel.
Posing with the Akzo Nobel Paint team - Mark Warren - Divisional Sales VP West, me, Cathy McKinley - Director The Home Depot Business Line, Todd Adams - Divisional Sales VP North, and Chuck Kerby - VP, The Home Depot Business Line
Moving on to the carpet area - speaking in front of our in-store carpet fixture - John Sommers, Merchandising VP Soft Flooring and Randy Brown, Div. Merchandise Mgr Soft Flooring - both from The Home Depot
Checking out our Rod & Finial Sets, which support our really great curtains
And our closet system display
And our colorful organic seed display, which is in stores now - an assortment of 29 vegetables and flowers
Posing with a terrific group from The Home Depot
Saying goodbye to Daryl - we had a lot of fun!
We then went to Home Depot Store #3318 in Las Vegas. This is how they decorated the entryway to the restrooms - our paint, our logo, and our mirrors. Nice!
Of course, I had to do a little shopping. This time, I bought yardsticks and was very pleased to find them at 61 cents each!
Very friendly store associates
Outside in the garden department, we were very impressed with the selection of native plants. Each store buys from local growers in their area, supporting those growers and gardeners, alike.
I was also amazed with these fantastic pots! Such large sizes and reasonably priced
