Weekend in the Hamptons
This past weekend, I was in East Hampton, where the busy summer social season is in full force and on Saturday, I attended two parties. During the afternoon, I drove out to The Springs section of East Hampton to attend a wedding celebration and baby shower for W editor Stefano Tonchi and his longtime partner, art gallery owner David Maupin. The party was held at landscape designer, Edwina von Gal’s lovely home. The guests of honor are expecting twin girls via a surrogate in early August. Following that gathering, I drove to my friends, Allen and Debbie Grubman’s home for an early birthday party honoring the incomparable Tony Bennett.
Turning off the main road, you encounter a long and grassy drive through the beautiful landscape.
The twisty road was well-marked.
Edwina von Gal's home in The Springs is very chic and modern with an indigenous landscape.
Another sign leading to...
The back stairs. Because the house is so close to the marsh, it was built on stilts, raising it in the event of high water.
Landscape designer, Edwina von Gal, has been working in the Hamptons since the mid-1980s and is dedicated to preserving nature.
The elevated home has unobstructed and serene views of the marsh.
There is so much wildlife in this marsh, including deer, who make frequent visits.
A telescope sits at the ready and this handsome fellow is observing something off in the distance.
It appears he was looking at an osprey, or sea hawk, atop its nest.
Ospreys, whose diet is mostly fish, nest in locations near bodies of water that provide an adequate food supply.

The grounds are very private and very relaxing.

Leaving the shower party, I drove away from The Springs, and headed for my friends, Allen and Debbie Grubman's home for a celebration honoring Tony Bennett.
The guest of honor - the legendary Tony Bennett, who looks great at 85!
Here I am with Nicholas Pileggi, best known for writing the book Wiseguy, which he adapted into the movie Goodfellas.
Pileggi's wife, Nora Ephron, film director, producer, screenwriter, novelist, journalist, author, and blogger - sitting next to Mort Zuckerman, magazine editor, publisher, and real estate billionaire.
Irwin Winkler - film producer and director - Goodfellas
The food was fabulous. Delicious lamb was the main course with local farm-fresh vegetables.
This is lovely Helena, daughter of Jerry and Prudence Inzerillo. Her godfather is Nelson Mandela.
We had this photo taken because we three share the same birthday - August 3rd!
A nice shot of me and Tony
