Visiting the Newest KB Home Community in Orlando, Florida
For those of you who may not know, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia has an ongoing and successful partnership with KB Home, one of the nation’s premier homebuilders. I recently traveled to Orlando, Florida, to get a special sneak peek at KB Home’s Mabel Bridge community there. I am proud to say that this is the 11th community we have created together since 2006. We design these homes with KB Home to look and feel as beautiful, and function as well as my own homes, and the new Martha Stewart model home at KB Home’s Mabel Bridge is no exception. It is absolutely gorgeous with an open and flexible floor plan that allows for lots of natural light, and includes fine finishing details and, of course, a fabulous kitchen - my favorite part of any home. To celebrate the opening, one hundred prospective homebuyers were invited to the community for an evening reception and a cupcake-decorating contest judged by me!
Here I am at the KB Home™ Mabel Bridge community to celebrate the Grand Opening! There are two exterior styles inspired by my own personal residences. This one is called Katonah and the other, Skylands.
The kitchen is one of the most important spaces in the home. It’s a place for cooking, of course, but also where families work, relax, and entertain.
Here I am with George Glance, KB Home’s Division President for Central Florida, who welcomed me to the Mabel Bridge community. Notice the beautiful granite counter tops?
The general design of this kitchen incorporates beauty and function with the large workspace on the island. The lights on top of the cabinets are there for the photo shoot.
The open shelving makes it easy to be organized. Here they have displayed many items of whiteware from my Martha Stewart Collection™ at Macy’s.
This glass front door on the pantry is a nice touch to see what you have stocked.
This is the bright sun room directly off the kitchen, which opens up to an outdoor covered patio.
This sun room opens up the living space, making it feel much larger.
At the front of the home is the multipurpose space, which we chose to show as a formal area using my Martha Stewart Living™ Ingrid arm chair and sofa from Home Decorator’s Collection.
This is the spacious great room living area adjacent to the kitchen.
And this is the outdoor covered patio with our Martha Stewart Living™ Avondale furniture from Home Decorators Collection.
Here I am with George. I love the Colonial-style details of the Katonah design, highlighted with front pillars, decorative molding, and trim throughout.
The master bath
I love how the bed is decorated with my Poppy Floral bedding from my Martha Stewart Collection™ at Macy’s.
This bedroom is nicely decorated with my Modern Dots quilt from my Martha Stewart Collection™ at Macy’s.
The craft room can also be used as an extra bedroom or office. It features some of my favorite crafting tools upon my craft space gift-wrap hutch and table from Home Decorators Collection.

This is the Energy Performance Guide or EPG, which provides an estimate of monthly heating and cooling costs. This home only costs (on average) $131 per month to heat/cool.

While there, I judged a cupcake decorating contest. Here I am posing with Colleen Tolle, whom I awarded 1st prize for her bumblebee cupcake design!
