The bold marquis of my Chelsea studio is visible from a couple blocks away.
The line forms bright and early before each show.
Joey Kola, my warmup artist, was dressed very dapperly for day one of season 7.
Each camera operator has detailed notes to follow throughout the show.
Over the summer, the set kitchen was redesigned by The Home Depot.
The crew lowered the curtain for the big unveiling of this amazingly beautiful new kitchen.
Our set is always wonderfully decorated and so is the backstage area! It's looking very festive for autumn.
The very busy, but very organized backstage crafting area - Every drawer, cabinet, and bin is clearly P-touched with what's inside.
A rainbow of satin ribbons are stored on dowels beneath the shelves within easy reach.
A professional washer and dryer gets used frequently, of course with Martha Stewart Clean!

More equipment in the audio room
Meanwhile, I was in my dressing room with Daisy, who was applying my makeup. I was also reviewing notes of the show and getting phone messages from my executive assistant, Melany.
Jackie, my wardrobe stylist, was organizing my clothing.
Tom Schmitz is also a wardrobe stylist. Tom coordinates the audience and also the kitchen staff.
On the opening day of each new season, I receive a lovely orchid plant....

This little prop room is located just off set.
It's referred to as Mise en Place, where all of the small dishes for ingredients are kept.
There is a wonderful assortment of sizes and colors to choose from.
Here is a set-up for an upcoming segment. The dishes are P-touched with precise ingredient amounts and are clearly visible for me and my guests.
This is the domain of Robert Diamond, the lead set decorator.

Posing with my first guest, Kierin Baldwin and Andrew Carmellini. Kierin is the pastry chef at the very popular Dutch, Andrew's newest restaurant in the Soho section of Manhattan.
This is Kierin's fabulous creation - devil's food cake with black peppercorn icing. I had a piece of this cake over the summer at The Dutch and was blown away by it.
Here I am talking about the kitchen, explaining that it was our viewers who inspired us to create it.
I gave a little tour of the kitchen and opened drawers and cabinets.
Producer, Lenore Welby coached me for the next segment with Erica Chan Coffman of the amazing art and fashion blog, Honestly...WTF.
Erica's segment was about glittering sneakers and I showed off my own glittered shoes.
Erica's co-blog editor, Lauren Kolodny, joined us on set. These glittered sneakers are so adorable and are fun, easy, and very affordable to make, using Mod Podge, glitter, and little jewels.
After the show, I took a few questions from the audience.
I asked this little girl why she wasn't in school. She didn't have a good answer.
Some details of the new kitchen - A lovely deep Corian sink with a sloped bottom for efficient drainage
The counter top back splash is glass subway tile, also from Home Depot.
The back splash for the stove is subway tile of stainless steel.
A sturdy shelf
There are lots of storage shelves all held in place with beautiful brackets.
