It was remarkable to sit so close to the players. The sheer athleticism of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic is even more impressive in person than it is on television.
Nadal played strongly in the first set winning 6-2. He was trying for his second US Open title and his 14th Grand Slam. It was also his 37th meeting vs. Djokovic.
Nadal serving in the 2nd set. There were fantastic rallies, one lasting 54 shots!
This was one of the USTA Presidential Suite coordinators.
We heard that soccer star David Beckham was sitting in this part of the audience, but we couldn't spot him.
One of the spectators started yelling during the 1st set, right next to Nadal's box. You can see his uncle/coach Toni in the white hat in the lower left corner. Uncle Toni walked over to the man and gave him a stern look. Two security guards came and dealt with the situation.
Sir Sean Connery - This Scottish actor starred, of course, in seven James Bond films between 1962 and 1983, and in several great movies.
Djokovic serving in the 2nd set - Djokovic broke Nadal's service in the 2nd set, allowing him to win the set 3-6.

In the 3rd set - Djokovic broke Nadal's serve again in the first game of the 3rd set and it looked like Nadal was beginning to show signs of fatigue after this grueling tournament.
Leonardo again
It soon became clear that Nadal was not giving up and he fought back hard, delivering the fastest service ace of the match - 125 mph! Nadal won the 3rd set 6-4.
Nadal changed into a new dry shirt at the start of each set, which the crowd thoroughly enjoyed.
This is the press area and many high-powered telephoto lenses were focused on this championship.
Another strong battle in the 4th set, where he seemed to break Djokovic’s will. Nadal, who finally won after much exciting tennis - 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 - collapsed on the court victorious.
Nadal fans were beaming!
As soon as the match was over, a crew got the court ready for the trophy presentation.
Djokovic told Mary Carillo of CBS, “I want to congratulate Rafa and his team. He was too good, he definitely deserved to win this match today and this trophy. Obviously it is disappointing to lose a match like this. But it was a huge privilege and honor to be fighting for this trophy, one of the most important and valuable in our sport. I will definitely be coming back next year.”
As the winner, Nadal received $2.6 million prize money and earned $1 million from the Emirates Airlines bonus competition.
Nadal said, “I was very, very emotional. When I play against Novak it always is a very special feeling. Nobody brings me to my limit like Novak.”
Queen Sofia of Spain (in blue) was cheering for Rafael Nadal, of course.
Dave Haggerty - Chairman, CEO, and President of the USTA - congratulated both players for their spectacular tennis. He also thanked the more than 700,000 fans who were in attendance at the US Open for the 6th year in a row.

We were hungry, so we stopped at this wonderful Chinese restaurant in Flushing - the Imperial Palace Seafood Restaurant, which is famous for its dungeness crab dishes. Their address is 136-13 37th Avenue.
The restaurant has lots of Chinese ambiance.
