Dramatic Views Of My Farm
Today is the last day of September and autumn has officially arrived. You can definitely see changes taking place in the landscape. I thought I would share a little of that with you. These photos were taken a few days ago when the sky was putting on a dramatic show.
My farm as seen from my terrace garden
Sharkey was out exploring the Sargent crabapple trees
The pea-sized fruit of the crabapples is a favorite with backyard birds.
This viburnum along the driveway has turned a lovely garnet color - a nice contrast with the evergreens.
I've started decorating for the upcoming holidays using white and orange pumpkins.
The fan-shaped leaves of this ginkgo biloba have turned a chartreuse shade. There are four planted on the inside corners of the large herbaceous peony bed. The boxwood have been nicely pruned.
A better view of the peony bed. Wilmer and Chhewang have become superb pruners.
The peegee hydrangea adjacent to the tennis court are gorgeous!
This is the paddock where my horses spend the night, weather permitting.
The same paddock with foliage beginning to turn.
A view of one of the hay fields
You can really tell that autumn has arrived. The leaves are begging to fall.
The apple trees are loaded!
Another tree
Cider, apple sauce, apple pie, apple cake, and more!
A view of the other hayfield
Autumn foliage on its way!
Looking across the great lawn towards the little corn crib
These are quince trees that I brought from my garden on Turkey Hill. On today's Daily Wag, Sharkey gives a lesson about quince. http://thedailywag.com/
Next to the quince trees is a really old apple tree with delicious fruit.
Later in the day, the skies became quite dramatic.
A window into the great blue
Looking towards the equipment barn
The tall white pines near the chicken coops
Looking across a paddock towards my house and car port
A view of my house and the donkey paddock from the stable.
The boxwood allee with its pleasing undulating design
A dramatic sky and dramatic colors
Another view
And another
The clouds were putting on quite a show.
Ever changing light
Another view of my house
This is the cutting garden and the headhouse of the greenhouse.
