NOTE: If you are trying to find the Daily Wag, stay tuned. The Wag is moving to our new enhanced Pet Section. Hopefully, Francesca, Sharkey, and GK will be frolicking in a new space very soon. Stay tuned.
A week ago Tuesday I, once again, attended the annual TIME 100 Gala held at New York City’s Lincoln Center. Now in its eleventh year, this gala celebrates 100 men and women who, through their ideas and their actions, are changing the world. Using the categories of Leaders, Artists, Thinkers, and Heroes, the editors at TIME start listing individual who have had a big year in the news. They consider those whose ideas have sparked dialogue, or dissent, or even revolution. Once again, I was invited back as an alumna, having been a recipient of this great honor in 2005. This is always such an exciting gala to attend and such an honor to be in the company of such distinguished individuals. To see the full list of the TIME 100 for 2014 click here.
Here I am standing with inventor Tony Fadell and his wife, Danielle Lambert. Tony invented the Nest thermostat and other very excellent household "appliances." He comes from Apple.
The paparazzi at the Red Carpet - I would love to know where all the photos actually go.
I was interviewed by Matt Lauer. He had a few questions to ask the celebrity guests.
Susan Magrino was taking photos with my camera. She managed to get this photo of shoes and legs. I am wearing the gorgeous Manolo Blahnik sparkly sandals.
There was a big crowd surrounding Rupert Murdoch, Katie Couric, me, and the co-founder of Twitter, Jack Dorsey.
Katie Couric, Megyn Kelly, Rupert Murdoch, me, and Jack Dorsey - Rupert is looking very good, post divorce. He still has that tycoon look. And Jack Dorsey is really handsome!
The Time 100 Gala is always held in Jazz at Lincoln Center - a tiered dining room with a very good stage.
There is no "good" or "better" place to sit - the seating is always excellent!
Gayle King and Amy Adams on tier one
Photographer Patrick McMullan is always right where the action is. This is our second performer/honoree singer Carrie Underwood.
At my table was Padma Lakshmi - "Top Chef" judge and host and Susan Sarandon - actress - gorgeous ladies!
Jeff Bewkes, Chairman and CEO Time Warner, talked about the List.
One of my favorite executives, Joe Ripp, is now CEO of Time Inc. He's in charge of all the magazines.
Another shot of Jack Dorsey, co-founder and co-creator of Twitter, one of my favorite ways to communicate broadly.
Seth Meyers was elegant, funny, and a bit naughty as the lead entertainer.
The big thrill of the night was a lively and charming performance by the one and only, Pharrell Williams! He had a great troupe of performers, musicians, and dancers and he was his own inimitable self.
One of the dancers
Look at the bling! And what's up with the band aid??
A great photo of this charming singer/performer - check out the canary diamond ring!
The dancers moved onto the tiers to thrill the male guests.
The backup singers were great and never stopped smiling.
Here's Pharrell singing Happy. Did I mention that Pharrell is one of this year's Time 100?
Another great shot
