This is our radio room and the crew was setting up for my SiriusXM Stars 106 radio show called Mostly Martha which airs on Martha Live weekdays 12PM - 2PM ET.
Tina Weber was adjusting her camera for video, while Paige Goudey reviewed her notes.
Paige tested the mic for sound.
Bobbi Brown and Darcy Miller catching up before the show.
Bobbi brought some of her great products to share.
Bobbi's eighth book, Everything Eyes, teaches readers everything they need to know about how to create standout eyes. The book offers step-by-step tutorials for ten go-to eye makeup looks, from sparkly to smokey to retro glam and more.
Bobbi's original Lip Color formula treats lips to rich color with a soft-matte finish. Infused with Vitamins E and C as well as Beeswax, it also moisturizes and comforts
MSLO's Beauty editor, Melissa Goldstein, talked to Bobbi about mirrors, and how each mirror makes a person look different.
I joined the conversation conversation about mirrors. In my opinion, the worst mirror is the side view mirror on a car - it's terribly distorting.
Bobbi discussed how she defines beauty and what role makeup plays for a woman's beauty. My radio producer, Jocelyn Santos is to my left and Neil Golub is across.
The sound-proof radio room is reached through a sound-proof door.
I love wearing glasses and was quite interested in trying them on.
I talked about my own glasses, which I wear occasionally, and Bobbi offered advice about how to choose glasses, which she devoted an entire chapter to in her book.
I was very impressed with the eyeglass quality and styles.
All the styles are named after people because they are designed with certain people in mind. I told Bobbi there should be a pair called Martha and she said she would definitely design one.
Bobbi and I smiled for the camera.
Before the Town Hall meeting later in the afternoon, Angus Chen, IT Director of Desktop Services, setup my Powerpoint presentation.
At 3:53pm, employees began trickling in.
At 4:00pm, nearly every seat was taken.
Claudia Shaum, Kate Bittman, and Jana Branson
Jillian Biener and Nicolle Stumpf
Still wearing the Bobbi Brown glasses I selected in the radio room, I addressed the crowd.
Our new staff of summer interns recently arrived and I asked them to stand and be recognized.
Since I had recently traveled to China, I decided to give a slide presentation comparing that trip with previous ones. In 1980, my then husband, was a book publisher. We went with fellow publisher Nai Chang and his wife to visit publishers and printers.
1980 was pretty early for Americans to visit this giant country. Tiananmen Square in Beijing, was pretty empty with very few tourists and very few people.
I went to China again in 2007 and got to meet the artist Ai Weiwei at his home/studio.
Ai creates pieces in fine, fine porcelain, like this famous watermelon.
The captive audience
Next to speak was Amy Wilkins, SVP Ad Sales & Marketing. She talked about MSLO sparks creativity - we get people to create and make. We inspire people who have specific passions to get inspired around reasons and seasons.
There I am sitting between Kevin Sharkey and our CEO, Dan Dienst.
Lastly, Dan got up to welcome the interns and told them they were there because they made the grade. He told them to have fun and learn a lot because they are surrounded by super-talented people.
A nice shot with Amy and Dan
