Back to School Ideas on The Today Show
In case you missed it, here’s a recap of my appearances on The Today Show last week.
I was on the show three days in a row demonstrating some terrific back to school ideas.
On the first day I cooked up some wonderful breakfast, lunch, and dinner recipes. The second day, I showcased some great organizational ideas for moms and kids. And on the third day, I demonstrated how to make some really fun DIY school supplies.
I always love my time at The Today Show!
I hope you enjoy the photos.
Ready for the first segment of the day - breakfast!
Matt was hungry! He loved this segment.
Camera operators shooting the segment.
Next was frozen yogurt on a stick with fruit--a great way for kids to enjoy breakfast on-the-go.
Here I am preparing to make a delicious breakfast burrito.
Cooking eggs and chorizo sausage for the burrito.
This delicious burrito makes a healthy and satisfying breakfast.
A great lunch idea -- sushi surprise! The whole grain bread is flattened with a rolling pin and then filled with flavored cream cheese and raw vegetables.
This simple sushi is a delicious snack for kids and adding colorful numbers to the tray just makes lunch more fun.
These mini-kebobs are made with turkey, cheese, ham, and tomatoes. They're a great way to change up lunch!
This reusable lunch box is also from LunchBots.
I showed viewers great time-saving ideas for dinner, too, including preparing and freezing chicken cutlets in advance.
Chicken Parmesan.
Chicken Taco.
The Today Show is always a big production!
The next day was all about getting organized for back to school.
Getting ready to show Matt how to get his kids organized.
Here's a great idea for creating a wall organizer. We combined two cork boards that we painted white with two magnetic dry erase boards.
A simple cubicle with cloth bins can really help keep moms and kids organized.
A peg rack keeps backpacks in one place.
A great organizing idea is to start a binder for the new school year. A year's worth of art, projects, and mementos can all be stored neatly in one place.
Here I am with Judy Morris, my producer, and Jocelyn Worrall, my set stylist.
A great way to organize your children's art is to put it on display! You can use string and clothespins to create a rotating and seasonal art gallery. Your kids will love it!
On the third day, I demonstrated some fun DIY school supply projects. Adding duct tape to folders adds a personal touch and reinforces them as well.
Another simple DIY project is to embellish pencil cases with colorful Avery stickers and rhinestones. Fun!
After our segments, Matt headed out to the plaza with singer, Ariana Grande.
This is Ariana Grande's bodyguard.
Here I am with Ariana's backup dancers.
The audience enjoying the performance.
Ariana is a talented young singer.
