Ghoulish Halloween Greeting
Every year we decorate the front gate entrance to the farm for Halloween. This year, I have been traveling a lot and have not had time to do this charming task. I asked my housekeeper, Laura Acuna, to do the honors, and she set up a simple, but frighteningly scary tableau of goblins and ghosts and skeletons. Isn’t it wonderful that my basement houses years of excellent props and decorations, and isn’t it sublime that the garden yields dramatic pumpkins and gourds?
HAPPY HALLOWEEN everyone!
TRICK OR TREAT!!!!!!!
1 When I came home tonight, my front driveway had been transformed into a ghost and bat and skeleton inhabited horror show!!!
2 Bats and goblins were flying about, and the autumnal trees appeared frightening and unreal.
3 Glittery skeletons were sitting about communing with pumpkins that had migrated from my door stoops hundreds of feet away.
4 Swaying in the wet breezes were raggedy ghosts suspended amidst the trees and plants.
5 How did they get there? Where were they planning to go next? I am almost afraid to go to sleep tonight.
6 Spiders were crawling all over this poor fellow who was sitting outside the gate -- all the skeletons seemed to love the French pumpkins we grew in the garden.
7 This one, too, was grinning ear to ear sitting on the wall with myriad spiders and cobwebs.
8 This greenish guy had hung himself on one of the garage doors.
9 His partner in crime had done the same. I wonder if we will get trick or treaters this year as in the past????????? Or will they be too scared to ring the bell??????
