Last night, I attended the "Women of Pixels" dinner celebrating the new movie, "Pixels". I am joined by Zac Posen, who hosted the event along with Yahoo, Heather Parry, Head of the Film Division for Happy Madison Productions, actress Jane Krakowski, actress Michelle Monaghan, and Joe Zee, Executive Creative Officer at Yahoo Style. http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/pixels/ https://www.facebook.com/PixelsMovie
The event was held at New York City's Upland restaurant. Actress, Michelle Monaghan, and I, were engrossed in conversation at the table. In "Pixels", Michelle played Lieutenant Colonel Violet Van Patten, a specialist supplying the arcades with unique weapons to fight the aliens. http://uplandnyc.com
I curated the menu for the "Women of Pixels" dinner.
The dinner included three courses plus a dessert. It was delicious.
Here are SVP of Video and Development, Kim Miller-Olko, and actress, Jane Krakowski, who played Carolyn Cooper, the wife of the President.
Nearly a year ago, I traveled to Toronto to shoot a cameo appearance for the "Pixels" movie, which opens in theaters Friday, July 24th. Here I am with the one and only Adam Sandler, who personally called me and asked me to be part of the production. https://twitter.com/PixelsMovie
Joining me in my trailer as I prepared for the taping were my hair stylist, James Vides, my makeup artist, Daisy Schwartzburg, actor Peter Dinklage, and Kim.
Here I am with actor, Peter Dinklage. He's been in many films including Elf, Underdog, the British film Death at a Funeral, Ice Age: Contintental Drift, and many more. Since 2011, Dinklage has also played Tyrion in the HBO series Game of Thrones. In "Pixels", Peter played one of the four men recruited to fight the pixelated threats destroying the city.
Standing with me is acclaimed filmmaker, Chris Columbus, who directed and produced the movie. He has also worked on other movies, such as Home Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire, and the first three Harry Potter films.
Kim and Heather Parry, Head of the Film Division at Happy Madison Productions founded in 1999 by Adam Sandler. Heather was great to work with - she covered every detail beautifully - it ended up to be a perfect day.
Here is Heather on set going over some of the many details with the crew. "Pixels" was produced by Happy Madison Productions, 1492 Pictures and Columbia Pictures, part of Sony. http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/pixels/
I am ready for my cameo.
Director and producer, Chris Columbus, had state of the art set pieces. They built a portion of the White House for my cameo appearance. Here is the window to "Lincoln's bedroom."
Here is the same window of the White House as it is seen on a monitor. In the window on the left, you can see the stand-in actresses for me and Serena Williams.
Here I am discussing camera angles with Heather and Chris.
James and Daisy posing for the camera. They had such a good time.
Kim was thrilled to be on set after weeks of preparation.
Here are some of the members of the production crew waiting for their next task. Being part of a movie production team means long days and lots of work. This crew was enthusiastic and very helpful.
Here I am talking to Serena Williams. Serena just won Wimbledon, the French Open and the Australian Open this year. Next, she is headed to New York City to hopefully win the US Open.
Here I am with Chris and Serena. Serena and I were in the cameo together. Everyone felt at home on set - it was as if we had all worked together many times.
Kim and Adam.
Here was a delicious BLT sandwich I made for Peter Dinklage as part of my cameo appearance.
Adam and I talking about my scene.
Kim, Heather and I looking at the monitor.
Adam and I posed for another photo. Adam starred in the movie, and was also one of its producers along with Chris Columbus, Mark Radcliffe and Allen Covert.
After we left the studio, we headed to dinner and passed Canada's CN Tower, a 1815-foot concrete communications and observation tower in downtown Toronto. It is the third tallest tower in the world and the tallest free-standing structure in the western hemisphere.
In 1995, the CN Tower was declared one of the modern Seven Wonders of the World by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Here was the entrance to Buco - the tall ceilings and attentive staff made it very inviting.
This meat plate was the Salumi di Buca - it included five different salamis and five different cheeses.
A plate of mozzarella and slices of juicy tomatoes with olive oil.
Pane di Buca - a selection of freshly baked breads.
These were olive Ascolane, which are fried Taggiasche olives stuffed with house made sausage.
Nodini - warm bread knots, olive oil, rosemary, garlic and sea salt.
A first pasta dish - all of Buca's pastas are homemade.
A lobster gnocchi with basil.
A perfect trio of fruit gelato for dessert.
A great dinner with Serena, Kim, Daisy, Heather, and James. Go see the movie "Pixels"!
