On the morning before I left for my business trip to Colombia, South America, there was a very thick fog over my Bedford farm. It was hard to see beyond my terrace parterre and the paddock fencing.
The fog dissipated quickly, and a beautiful, most colorful sky emerged - look at the pretty pink and blue tones above the tree line.
One never tires of seeing sights like this - so beautiful.
Here I was in the sky - over Cartagena, Colombia. This was a view from our plane a few hours later. Cartagena is barely visible in the distance.
Cartagena is almost entirely surrounded by the Caribbean Sea.
Cartagena faces the Caribbean Sea to the west. To its south is Cartagena Bay.
Cartagena is a city on the northern coast of Colombia. It is the fifth largest city there.
The old city gives way to the new one on a thin stretch of peninsula called Bocagrande.
The Bocagrande area contains the bulk of the city's tourist facilities, such as hotels, shops, restaurants, and galleries.
Designer, Silvia Tcherassi, and I greeted each other and posed for photos at the Hotel Sofitel Legend Santa Clara in Cartagena. We stood in front of the "step and repeat", a wall covered with printed logos in a repeat pattern used for event photography. https://www.silviatcherassi.com/enter.html
Because it was Cartagena Bridal Week, there were many vendors displaying their products in the lobby of our hotel. Here were some lovely samples of glassware, embroidered linens and various other tabletop items.
A pretty collection for any bride - relaxing spa wear.
Here were some of the new styles in foundations apparel.
And, a festive sequined bucket-style purse.
Here was a sweet little flower girl model in a pretty, persimmon-colored dress.
Weddings industry professionals from around the world gathered in a large hall of the hotel for the fashion show. All the seats were taken - it was standing room only by the time the show began.
This was one of the interesting light fixtures suspended from the ceiling. Two rows of large basket-like light coverings with foliage.
Director and creator of Cartagena Bridal Week, Simone Lejour, gave some welcoming remarks.

The styles were so different, but every one had its own unique flare.
Silvia's style has been described as eclectic - her clothes having the delicateness of a ballet dancer, and the strength of a rock star at the same time.
This gown was heavily embroidered. Many of the gowns included very intricate hand-embroidery.
Silvia draws much of of her inspiration from her home country of Colombia.
This white and gold lace was eye-catching.
This gown was very popular with its flowing layers.
A gorgeous use of gold adorned this dress.
Lace was also a big element in this collection.
Silvia is a very creative designer, who has been highly recognized for her talents around the world, especially Latin America.
This style of gown, with a shortened front and full length back, has become very popular among today's brides.
I loved the sleeves on this gold dress.
A full gown with ruffles from top to bottom.
This dress had just the right amount of shimmer in the fabric.
Another beautifully embroidered gown.
The top of this gown was so delicately designed.
Silvia combines both modern and traditional elements in her collections.
The simple, yet elegant train of this gown was so pretty.
And here was Darcy's favorite - the lip gown. Fun, but still quite elegant in style.
Nearly everyone in the audience shared photos from the event on social media.
Following the fashion show, I was interviewed on stage by Humberto Rodriguez Calderon, known as "El Gato" - a popular radio personality and television host.
We spoke about why Cartagena was a great weddings destination, as well as my thoughts on weddings trends and styles.
Then, as a lovely gesture for my visit to Cartagena, its mayor, Dionisio Fernando Velez Trujillo, gave me a key to the city.
Here I was with the key - I was very honored to receive such a special gift.
And, here I was with Mayor Dionisio Fernando Velez Trujillo.
After the fashion show, we all went to Silvia's restaurant, at the Tcherassi Hotel & Spa, where we enjoyed a wonderful dinner. Here I am with Weddings special projects editor, Anthony Luscia, Daisy Schwartzberg my makeup artist, and Darcy Miller-Nussbaum, executive editorial director of Weddings.
Darcy took this quick snapshot of me in front of this gold wall before we left. What a fun trip.
