Since we opened last March, the Martha Stewart Cafe has attracted many business professionals and visitors looking for delicious coffee, tea, and artisanal pastries.
We have a good variety of coffees, both hot and iced, as well as various teas, hot chocolate and hot cider. And, over the last several months, we've added some other sweet and savory treats.
The espresso machines we use in the cafe are made by La Marzocco USA. We have two of them, and they make delicious espresso. I like to go down for my favorite one shot cappuccino.
Our loose-leaf teas are provided by Wei Bertram of Connecticut-based Arogya Tea. They include: Martha's Breakfast Blend, Chai, Da Hong Pao, Emerald Mountain, Jasmine Silver Needle, Lemon Ginger, Peppermint, and a big favorite, Buckwheat. http://www.marthastewartcafe.com/products/
Our cafe also sells bags of coffee in both whole bean and ground varieties. They include Martha's Breakfast Blend - caffeinated and decaffeinated. Both our coffees and teas can be purchased on our web site as well. http://www.marthastewartcafe.com/products/
Every morning, crates of freshly baked breads, croissants, and other delicious breakfast foods are delivered to our cafe in time for the early morning rush.
Our baristas arrive early to brew the coffee, make sure all the food arrives on time, and set-up our various displays.
We offer a nice selection of confections - six different varieties to satisfy your sweet tooth. Packaged in bright red, these also make nice gifts for Valentine's Day.
Our most popular brittle is peanut, but we also have kettle corn cashew brittle, and milk chocolate and salted caramel bark. Better order a box - Valentine's Day is coming up soon.
Plus toffee bark, pecan nut clusters, and peppermint bark. Do you know the difference between bark and brittle? Bark is chocolate based, while brittle is made with caramelized sugar or syrup.
These red, ceramic cups, were originally found by our head of merchandising, Patsy Pollack, at a store in Paris, France. Luckily, we were able to find a distributor on the west coast, so we could order them for use at our cafe - they look so perfect.
Barista Mae McPhatter takes an order on the iPad. Some of our most popular items have included Breads Bakery almond croissants, Petrossian croissants, Bien Cuit pain au chocolat, Baked blueberry muffins, and orange brioche top knots from Balthazar.
Barista Luka Tobin steams milk for a cappuccino.
Our baristas went through thorough training with our coffee purveyor, Kobrick Coffee, so they could work in a well-organized assembly line. They are all trained to take orders and prepare drinks. Good, efficient customer service is very important. http://www.kobricks.com/ourcoffee.asp
We’ve sold more than 16-thousand cups of coffee, more than 18-thousand cold brew coffees, about 12-hundred baguettes, and nearly three-thousand cold brew teas!
Each of our cups has a Martha Stewart Cafe sticker logo on it in red with white lettering.
Barista Laura Bonnie rolls a cart carrying more cups and coffee to the cafe. We have very busy morning and afternoon crowds.
Our art department made these fun, paper bags for our baked goods.
I curated the menu myself, which includes pastries, and other treats, from some of my favorite local bakeries.
We like to offer different items each day. On this particular day, we had Bien Cuit's baguettes, pain au chocolat; Baked's citrus walnut muffins, crumb cake, oatmeal cookies with dried cherries, coconut and white chocolate and milk chocolate chunk cookies.
We've added individual packs of herbed and candied mixed nuts - they're great for a quick protein pick-me-up treat in the afternoon.
Also savory, Landaff cheese, from Landaff, New Hampshire, Reading cheese from Vermont, and figs - another great snack. We worked with Murray's Cheese to curate different cheese trays. http://www.murrayscheese.com/
Effie's Oatcakes are a fourth generation family recipe. These oatcakes are crisp, lightly sweetened with a nutty flavor, and are served with every cheese tray purchase.
On another shelf, more mixed and candied nuts.
Here's Daniel DiMezza, Senior Director of Marketing; Fashion & Entertainment Division at Sequential Brands Group, getting his morning cup of coffee.
On one side of the cafe, we set up a station with different types of milk, including soy milk and almond milk, plus lids, napkins, straws, and stirrers... everything our customers may want for a good cafe experience.
This customer is looking up at the large menu board on the wall - I wonder what she will choose?
These guests are waiting for their coffees at the other end of the cafe.
An iced cold brew and a breakfast treat!
ULIVjava lean iced coffee comes in two flavors - mocha and vanilla. These are infused with all natural herbs and botanicals and contain only 80 calories!
This is called a kegerator and it dispenses our cold brew coffee. Our cold brew iced coffee comes in two generous sizes - medium and large. Cold brew coffee contains up to 70-percent fewer acids than heat brewed, making for a much smoother, richer tasting beverage.
The crowd gathers throughout the morning, and then after lunch until it closes for the day at 4pm.
if you're ever in the area, be sure to come visit.
