Mother's Day Brunch Ideas on Facebook
What are you doing to celebrate the wonderful moms in your life this weekend?
I hope you caught yesterday’s special LIVE Facebook “Mother’s Day” chat. I had so much fun sharing my ideas for making a delicious Mother’s Day brunch, and answering all your great questions.
Our executive editorial director of food, Sarah Carey, joined me. We demonstrated how to blanch fresh asparagus, how to prepare a mouth-watering slow-baked salmon with cherry tomatoes, how to put together a juicy and nutritious citrus salad, and more - all with helpful tips to make preparations easy and enjoyable. If you missed the show, you can still watch - just click on this link to my Facebook “Mother’s Day” chat. Enjoy these photos, and have a very happy Mother’s Day weekend!
1 Our Facebook show was shot in the Martha Stewart Living "Turkey Hill Kitchen" studio at our New York offices. I made these whimsical crepe paper flower earlier on the Today Show - so fun for Mother's Day. http://goo.gl/HdBerq http://goo.gl/UU6ndu
2 These decorative crepe paper flowers make nice napkin ring embellishments for Mother's Day too, and it's a perfect project to do with the kids.
3 Sarah Carey joined me for this Facebook chat - she is a mom to two wonderful children, who also help with the cooking at home. Here is Sarah checking the water for our asparagus.
4 For Mother's Day brunch, I always love to start with asparagus. These fresh stalks were picked right from my farm.
9 Pomegranates are such nutritious fruits - filled with vitamin-C and potassium.
10 Sarah sliced our grapefruit and oranges for the salad - use an assortment of citrus fruits to give it a rich variety of color and taste.
14 The glaze is made with citrus zest and juices, and confectioner's sugar - these are also so easy to make for that special Mother's Day brunch.
15 I love how shiny the glaze looks on the cookies.
16 We placed some cookies under a glass dome with one of our crepe paper flowers on top - so cute. This Lisbon gray cake stand is from my collection at Macy's.
18 Salmon is not only a rich source of heart healthy omega-3 fatty acids, but also a good source of high quality protein.
20 The cork should not burst out of the bottle, but instead make a small pop, and then poured quietly into glasses.
21 Once everyone has their glass, make a toast to Mom.
22 Our Nicolas Feuillatte rose champagne was perfect.
