A Busy Day in New York
As many of you know, my calendar keeps me very busy and on the go - nearly every week is filled with important meetings, media events and business travel.
Yesterday, while a nor’easter wreaked havoc on much of New England, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, I was at QVC sharing lots of delicious spring gourmet foods from my collection - if you missed it, please check out my offerings on their web site by clicking on the highlighted link. Earlier in the week, I also made an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. We talked about my newest book, “Martha’s Flowers: A Practical Guide to Growing, Gathering and Enjoying” and made two interesting arrangements. And, I stopped by the VinExpo New York, one of the world's largest wine industry conferences featuring many of the top wine producers. It was an excellent way to visit our partners, and to see, taste and source new wines and spirits for our Martha Stewart Wine Co.

- Many of the wines were displayed in interesting packaging. These are called “Ice Bags” and can hold a bottle of wine “on ice”.

- This is a Japanese wine – it is very tasty. Koshu is one of the most visually appealing grape varieties, and its rose-colored berries have been grown in Japan for more than 1000-years in the Yamanashi Prefecture at the base of Mount Fuji.

- There were many wines to see and taste. Attendees learned about the patterns of wine consumption and production, the effects of climate change, the purchasing power of millennials, and the rise of e-commerce.

- That evening, I appeared at a taping of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Here I am with The Late Show band leader, Jon Batiste, and drummer, Joe Saylor.

- And you must know who this is. I was on the show the same night as Chelsea Clinton. It was very nice to see her – we had a great time talking back stage.

- For my segment, Stephen and I made two flower arrangements – I selected the flowers early in the morning down at the flower market. This arrangement is mine with pink and coral colored ranunculus, amaranthus, spirea, green pompoms, geranium leaves, alliums, and coral and pink tulips.

- Stephen’s arrangement included hairy balls, pussy willows, allium buds, crespida, golden wattle, and yellow buttons.
