Beautiful Martyn with a nice soft eye - he's happy.
If a horse is allowed to grow a full winter coat, it will shed a great deal of hair once spring arrives.
Because my horses are so tall, Betsy uses a small ladder to make grooming easier. Please note that not all horses will tolerate someone standing on a ladder while being groomed.
This tool is called a shedding blade.
Here's a good look at the shedding blade - notice those jagged teeth.
You can see that a small pile of hair is accumulating on the rubber mat beneath Martyn.
Betsy is now combing Martyn's shoulder - ahhhh.....
You can see how Martyn's hair is falling. Maybe I should stuff a mattress.
Any loose hair is picked up by the fine teeth of the shedding blade.
