Here I am with Susan Graham, the guest of honor for the evening.
Here is chef Martin Brock busy at work in my kitchen.
These gorgeous savoy cabbages were just picked from the vegetable garden.
Martin shredded the cabbage to saute as part of the main course.
The fennel in the garden is amazing this year. Martin made an exquisite puree of fennel soup served with petits crouton.
Part of the dessert was this braised, home grown rhubarb. Martin flavored it with cinnamon stick, vanilla bean, lime, thyme, and fresh raspberries. The dessert also included mousse of fromage blanc and garden berries.
The main course was this beautiful red snapper in a coconut broth. The snapper was placed on top of the sauteed cabbage and surrounded by garden shell peas and sugar snap peas.
The table was set very elegantly and decorated with clematis blooms from my pergola.
The table was set for fourteen.
Just before the guests were to arrive, there was an ominous threat of a severe storm.
The landscape had an eerie glow.
As much as I love the drama of a storm, I was concerned about more damage to my trees.
The air was thick with humidity.
The sky became darker.
One of the cupolas on top of the equipment barn was damaged in a previous storm and I was hoping that they would survive the wind this time.
All the green was glowing brightly.
I heard thunder approaching and returned to the house.
As quickly as the storm came, it was soon gone. This is a view of my front courtyard with the setting sun.
One of the first guest to arrive was my good friend, Memrie Lewis.
After cocktails and a stroll around the gardens, I sat my guests down for dinner.
I sat Susan across the table from me.

Tim, a fine classical pianist, as well as an operatic conductor, really enjoyed himself.
