Here I am still at my home this morning at 6:30 A.M before hair and makeup. I am about to head into the TV studio in NYC to do two shows. I stopped by the blog studio to check comments and edit some captions.
This is the entrance to the Blog Studio, which is a room that was once the goat shed of Cantitoe Corners. it is very different now, with a soaring ceiling, wainscoated walls and a cement floor free of manure
More than a score of very busy bird feeders are suspended along the entire rear side of the building. It's time to start thinking about the winter feeding schedules of our feathered friends and since they are year round residents of the farm (most of them) it is our obligation to make sure they have the type of seeds they need and want.
This is a large-screen Panasonic 'Elite' Series plasma television and monitor. Images can be sent to it wirelessly, or via a USB memory stick. The picture quality is astounding! I also got the inspiration for putting this screen here from visiting the apple store on Fourteenth street in Manhattan where they have a very similar set up on display.
An over-view of the studio space. A very high ceiling and a smooth cement floor makes for a neutrally appealing work area. You might recognize the 2 work counters on the right - they're from my home on Turkey Hill - previously a cherry finish, now stained a beautiful ebony.
The opposite wall is where the computers, printers, and hard-drives are located. The computers are 24-inch screen iMacs. I went to the Apple store on West 14th street one day and decided to copy their setup exactly. They are very aesthetically pleasing and a perfect fit for this large space. The HP Color Laserjet Printer (Model CP3505dn) is used to print up contact sheets of my photos that I like to review on the way in to work in the morning. Notice the mural on the wall - these are photos taken from a boat on the hudson river last year by me and my niece, Sophie Herbert. We were photographing the entire hudson river waterfront from battery park to 59th street for the hudson river park restoration. The pictures were carefully matched together, creating this impressive visual of the city. it was framed as artwork (I call it my "David Hockney") by Eli Wilner galleries.
One entire wall of the studio is the blog inspiration board. The material is from Forbo. www.forboflooringna.com.
A close-up of where all my digital photos are stored - would you believe I have over 100,000 images since I started shooting digital? Can you imagine the storage dilemma if they were all taken with film?
This Canon G9 is one of my favorite cameras to use for blogging. It's easy to carry and it takes fabulous photos. Not only do I use this camera but everyone of my editors who do scouting and blogging also prefer this great small portable camera with wonderful features.
A Genesis Safety Trimmer - A very handy tool for cutting paper and trimming photos.
Chapters from my up-coming new book on Entertaining (look for it next year) are laid out on this counter top for easy reviewing.
