I am so excited about my new FLOR! Come and have a look.
I am so happy to tell you about a new line of floor covering that we, at Martha Stewart Living, have created in partnership with a company called FLOR. (They are also on Twitter) This company prides itself with fine workmanship and a strong commitment to the environment. FLOR worked closely with the MSLO design team to create a contemporary color pallet and innovative patterns for the collection. It’s actually an entire modular floor system and we are so proud of this line.
This system is made up of individual squares, measuring 20” X 20” and come in fantastic colors and patterns, which can be used individually or mixed and matched for original and personal designs. Rather than adhering to a bare floor, these carpet tiles are joined together at the corners with little circles called FLORdots. Nothing permanent or toxic is used. In fact, FLOR tiles are made from recycled materials and are extremely durable and washable. All you do is lift the square or squares, wash them clean, and lay them back down. Just the other day, my blog studio was carpeted with FLOR tiles and I simply love how it looks.

We're in love with our FLOR tiles in our media room! So easy to install and change out and we were able to carpet the exact area we wanted to. Plus having pets and pet visitors it really does make those little accidental moments much easier all around.

Hi Martha,
The blog studio looks great, the color is perfect and it is nice to know the tiles aren't permanent and can be picked up and cleaned! We had carpet tiles in our kitchen years ago in Michigan that stuck to the floor with heavy duty adhesive and it was a lot of work to remove them. I didn't want anything to do with tiles again but these FLOR tiles are a whole different matter. I am really interested so thanks for the demo! Trish

Your FLOR tiles look great! I love this product as well, and have used the tiles in three different rooms in my own home. The bisque "velvet twist" is what I'll be using next in my dining room with the tufted frond in the center. With 4 children the tiles have been so convenient to clean with so many styles to choose from!!!

I have seen the tile system being used increasingly in high traffic areas of the hospital. It makes so much more sense to be able to just replace tiles that are stained or worn than to recarpet the entire area. I assume yours are designed and priced for home use?

Your studio looks much cozier and easier on the feet. The Flor system looks to be both convenient and economical. Perfect for families with kids, pets and messy adults.
Thanks for sharing.

I like these - my best friend has something similar in her playroom but these look easier to install - I also like that you can mix up the colors if you want. I want to rip out the carpets in the house in a few years and this seems like a nice solution for the areas where we still want something!

I think it looks great, I like the alternatives such as the basket weave effect. And as you say so little waste--no long roll of carpet to dispose of.

Love the Flor tiles - make sure you visit the carpet mill - it's fascinating!

Dear Martha,
"All you do is lift the square or squares, wash them clean, and lay them back down."

That looks great! I love their packaging too, very fun and clever.

I love them, great idea, I would love something like that for our basement when we do it over....if you have a spill you can just replace one square, makes perfect sense !!
Expensive ???
Happy St Paddy's day to you !!!
Kathy
May you always walk in sunshine.
May you never want for more.
May Irish angels rest their wings,
Right beside your door.

Yes indeed, what a huuuge room, and I do bet that the floor WAS chilly before the carpet tiles were placed! In its original state, it actually looked like a cool and comfortable room, superb for summertime use. The carpet did cozy things up and quiet it down as well (I'm sure), ideal for year-round. (I DID wonder where on earth one would begin to lay that first square!) [giggle]
What's especially nice about these tiles is that they're NOT so permanent - when you want to change the look, it will be a cinch. Can you imagine if that w-h-o-l-e floor would've been covered in cement (+ the smell?!!). I think the adhesive dots are really innovative - the FLOR brand selections overall lend a lot of versatility, too! Can't beat that! - heck, anyone can literally 'paint' their own canvas!
While I'm here, I must reach out and mention that I'm missing fellow-blogger friend Jan Erickson! Jan, where are youuuuu?!... Hope you're well... Hope to read one of your encouraging posts real soon!
Oh, and Edgar =^..^=, tho' he's not Irish, Martha, wishes you a mrrrowy St Patrick's Day!

Martha,
We have a very cold tile floor in our northside kitchen. The flor tiles have made the work area so much more comfortable. I used the tiles to make an area rug. I highly recommend this product to all. I especially like your colors.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Martha, I want't to say how sorry I am for the loss of Ghengis Khan. I hope in due time you will get another Chow Chow. I have owned Chow Chows my whole life. I work so hard on the socialization of all of my Chows as that is the key. You are such a advocate for the breed called Chow Chow. You know the amazing qualities The Chow Chows has and possess. I work with fostering Chows and the rehabilitation of the Chows. The Chows get a bad reputation by many people. I just wanted to thank you, as you know how wonderful the breed is. I want to say sorry for the loss of Ghengis Khan and Paw Paw. Jason

Your St.Pat's show was first rate.It pleases me to share St.Patrick's Feast with non Irish folks. The segment on the owl, fox, otter and lynx was truly terrific. Just watched a raven fly over the barn carrying a large stick to its nesting spot - a little closer than last year.
I wrote something just for you:
Come with me to the garden please
Where we will look upon the peas
To see them reach on tippy toe
And let you know how well they grow
They bloom and wait for tender bee
To seal their fate on bended knee
Then waiting 'til the horse be shod
They'll cuddle tight within their pod
'Til Martha,wandering through her plot
Will lug them off,in her copper pot.
Well,I'm off to catch a leprechaun and drown my
shamrock. Keep smiling.
p.s. N.B Just got an Email to beware of COCOA
MULCH. It is toxic to cats and dogs.

I installed Martha's Flor design in my last home over my hardwood floors. So easy and beautiful! Everybody that came to my home loved the "wall to wall carpeting". I recently relocated to another state and sold that home but was able to take up the tiles and
re-install at my new home. Now I have a piece of that home here... thank you Martha for the great product and design!

Hi Martha, Thank you for another inspiring and informative blog! I just love everything that you do! Your blog studio was beautiful before and now it is even more gorgeous with the stunning Flor tiles. The color is a perfect match for the rest of the studio. I just love seeing you down on your hands and knees installing some of the tiles. It makes me want to get right down and help with the installation. It does look easy and oh so much fun. What a great way to sell a product by actually showing how to use it! Thanks again for sharing. Jan

I think these tiles are a great idea! I also watched Flor's youtube video and the video response was also cool and had great patterns! I can't wait to get started! Thanks so much for the idea.

I'm finishing my basement but the flooring selection is a challenge. My husband mentioned Flor and this is the first visit to the website. I look forward to checking into this product and possibly using this in our basement. We really want something eco friendly and something we can install. So far flooring for the basement has been the biggest decision and costliest. Thanks Terry
