Joining The Home Depot family

Yesterday, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and The Home Depot announced an agreement to develop an exclusive Martha Stewart Living brand of affordably priced home improvement products in select categories including Outdoor Living, Home Organization and Decor.
I’m very excited about this new partnership, which is a great opportunity for MSLO to reach an even wider audience with the “how-to” home-improvement products and information they need and want.
As you probably know, I’ve always had a passion for Do-It-Yourself endeavors and have engaged in home improvement projects for most of my life. The very first was the restoration and enlarging of a three-room 1805 schoolhouse that my husband and I purchased in Middlefield, MA back in 1965. It had no indoor plumbing and rudimentary electricity so I really learned how to do everything from simple painting and spackling, to brick laying, to carpentry (I made the kitchen cabinets), to electrical wiring and laying pipe for plumbing. My gardening, too, would have been impossible without the correct materials and tools. The whole experience was very rewarding and I developed useful skills that have served me well ever since.
For years I have been a loyal Home Depot customer. In fact, the restoration of my current home, a farm in Bedford, New York, would have been much more challenging without the help of my local Home Depot in Carmel, N.Y., where we are frequent customers. At my home in Maine, too, many projects are accomplished with the help of supplies from The Home Depot in Ellsworth.
We’re delighted to be joining The Home Depot family.

I can not wait to see all the great things you come up with!!!!

Congratulations! This is great news. I'm in the process of buying my first home right now and I can't wait to see what good things come to Home Depot!

Lowes would have been better, but you probably couldn't make a deal with them. Will your paint line move to HD as well?

Congratulations Martha. Your joining Home Depot makes more of your products and ideas easily accessible to us. We wish you all the success in this new endeavor.

Congratulation Martha, way to go!! We do not have a Home Depot in my town, but I travel to Indianapolis quite often and will make a point of stopping at Home Depot just to see and, I'm sure, purchase your products. I love your beautiful and useful kitchen line which I purchase at Kmart and Macy's. I could not (or I should say would prefer not to) do the craft projects and scrapbookkeeping that both myself and my family enjoy without all your wonderful things. Thanks for everything and keep up the good work.

How great! When might we expect to see 'Martha' on the shelves at Home Depot? Yeah...another reason to go there!
Posted by: sherey | September 15th, 2009 at 10:57 am
Hi Martha,
I just about live at Home Depot now so I guess I'll be 'moving in' when your products arrive! This is going to be great especially when there are 3 stores in close proximity. I'm already looking forward to seeing the patio furniture. I did not get a new set after ours got ruined in one of the hurricanes but I'm thinking about it now! You get the greatest ideas while lying awake at night, don't you! Trish

This is exciting! I can't wait for the new products to hit the shelves!

This is great news! I love Martha's brand at Kmart, and I can't wait to see the terrific stuff she'll have at Home Depot!

Welcome Martha!
I'm a 13 year HD garden lady and I couldnt be more pleased! I've always been pleased with the quality and design of your products. We have some of the most clunky lighting fixtures (in store) and some of my pottery lines haven't changed since I started.
I was hoping you would join us years ago.
Welcome, marcia

Dream Tour
.
In 1997 Martha bought 63 acres of an American treasure
Named Skylands on Mt.Desert Island, it brought her pleasure.
'Til you catch your breath after the Great Hall and cement table
Hand carved stone mantel you'll feel you're in a fairyland fable.
But it's real, a living room with telescope, bird painting set
Oak floors 3 boards thick and a player piano is what you get.
French concrete furniture, saving on trees, hidden in Maine;
Seat 20 for breakfast on a Georgian chair, none will complain.
Round tavern tables with view of water and sunrise in the east.
Gigantic martini maker 14 a pop to sooth the savage beast
In the butler's pantry the wall of table cloths with a rolled door
And the napkin dryer, another little innovation to put you on the floor;
Danish landscaper Jensen designed the Estate to enhance Nature
Planted pink granite stones and carriage turntable add to the grandeur
Firebird emblem in the fire pit, manicured woodlot with canopy to the sea
While on the hiking trails the quiet hum of Nature sets you free
Under the high rock area the resurrection of three lost pools
Further investigation will undoubtedly produce more jewels.
Wending our way back the mile long driveway the tour seems uncanny,
Methinks there are more surprises from Martha, this is the first of many.

You set my very lonely soul on fire
Thoughts fill with a burning desire.
You cannot ever understand the pain. Oh lady
Alone I am, again, a ghost in the rain.
Tormented feelings with no release
Must I turn away to find my peace?
Soul on fire honey soul on fii ure

Reaching out for you to no avail
Begging recognition, afraid to fail;
Craving acknowledgement to exist. Oh lady
You can tame the flames, I wont resist.
A chance to vaporize, re absorb within
Don't let the agonized longing begin.
Soul on fire honey soul on fii ure

Only you can hold the key to my heart.

This is fantastic. Now when all those contractors go into the HD to pick up finishes, they will have beautiful items to choose from.
I have a friend who has a 3 million dollar house with all mid level cabinet and lighting. And we know his builder just went in somewhere and pulled them off the shelves and put them up. They are nice "apartment" styled products, but not "designed" like we know Martha's will be!!!

Skylands Opener on MARTHA -- Opulent forest in the sky, and in each room! Your film segment "flowed like music." I taped it for days when I'm worn. The trip there will amaze me back to action.
.
I have a sharing of history incited by your presentation. You may have read, from other correspondences of mine, where the Queen issued 300 acres to my ancestors who came to Massachusetts in 1765. On that land were built houses, a blacksmith shop and a full dairy farm.
.
There was also a wagon painting shed where I and the Weimaraners are living. While the horses were trying on shoes, the wagons would be brought into my 'living room' for a brush sloshing.
.
In 1927 the Spencers lifted the building to move it back from street's edge and turn it into a 14 room house for my newly married grand parents. Leaving the main house of fine ceiling beams and full walk-in hearth fireplace, they went rustic and dug a huge cellar by wheelbarrow which today still hosts tall boulders in cement and beams with posts covered in tree bark. There also stands a coal burning stove, similar to what you mentioned. It was later turned into a furnace.
.
Throughout your tour, . . . .the same sinks, the wood, the windows, ... down to the same Boston pencil sharpener! I also have cypress CHESTS used in our horseradish making shed where my great grandfather and Mr. Cain of horseradish descent started grinding their condiment!
.
Your place is a banquet! Mine, ... family leftovers for dusting! Very exciting to see your presentation of a time period I'm living in!!

Hi Martha, Thanks for the fun and very exciting TV show today. It was absolutely wonderful to learn about your partnership with Home Depot. Not only do YOU have a great business, but so does Home Depot and all the items you will have starting in Jan. 2010 will be incredible. It was so great to see all of the excitement that this deal produced. Now we will have to wait, but the outcome will be well worth it. I saw Macy's newest ad today and it was really great. Now we will be able to shop at Macy's, Home Depot, Costco, Michaels, Walmart etc. for the best products on the market. THANKS!!! Jan

HI Martha - I just saw your interview on FOX with Neil Cavuto! I am VERY HAPPY to learn of your partnership with HOME DEPOT. Will you be promoting Women-Oriented "DO-IT-YOURSELF" classes? I have owned my home for almost 10 years, and I need HELP!!!
Touching up walls, fixing things, even hanging pictures - I could use some first-step essential classes.
THANKS MARTHA!!!

Hi Martha. Congrats on your new partnership with Home Depot. I hope you expand their garden center offerings. They need a greater variety of plants, planters and gardening tools.
Also, I wish you would do more shows on gardening in general (especially grow your own food info.) Anything practical rather than fancy.
Also, please do some features on California, especially LA. It's really hard to find good information on West Coast living.

This is great for Home Depot. We have always aspired to take care of all of our customers needs as best we can, but adding this design element to the stores will be great. As for anyone wanting Do-It-Herself workshops, go to http://www.homeimproverclub.com and check out our workshops. We also do a Kids-Workshop the first Saturday of every month for free and the kids get to build and take home their very own wood project. It is a great hit and we have MANY kids that go to every one. Once again, thanks for joining our ranks Martha, and enjoy the new apron you got from Store 8465 in Westbury, N.Y. Best hand-painted apron I have seen in years!

Martha,
I have been a Designer for over 16 years & I just saw the new cabinet line. It's amazing! Great cabinet maker, beautiful selection, reasonable price. I am so excited to see more. I think I have found my new kitchen and bathroom cabinets! Thanks again.

I would love to be the first person to have a Martha Stewart kitchen!! I have not been able to find a cupboard style that I love. Then today when I was at Home Depot today fixing to settle on cabinet I saw the new Martha Stewart display, I found a style I loved, only to find out it's not available until Sept.1st. I was so sad because we need to order before that. If only the world could revolve around me and the rules could be bent this one time LoL!!
