The Today Show Behind The Scenes
For this year's holiday season, we at Martha Stewart Living magazine, decided to publish 138 of the best decorations, recipes, and gifts from A to Z. These are all fun and beautiful things to make and to share with family and friends. I've been busy demonstrating some of these projects on my television show and also on the Today show. Instructions can be found in the December issue of Living as well as at Marthastewart.com. Please have a look at what we did yesterday on Today!
1 Officer John Riley and his beautiful horse, Trooper stopped to say hello to Mary Curren and me on our way into the Today show.
4 The sparkling snowmen make an impressive display. Their bases are made from treat boxes and can be used for candy gifts.
5 The sparkling candles were made by coating pillar candles with Mod Podge and rolling them in glitter.
7 We also made these festive holly leaf decorations out of felt and ornaments. The holly template can be found at marthastewart.com.
8 As usual, the demo table was neatly organized and well-stocked. I like to demonstrate as much as possible on the Today show.
9 These elf figurines are a joy to make. All you need are pine cones, pipe cleaners, and other simple supplies. They can be used as decorations on a mantel, under a tree, or atop presents.

Dear Martha! Everything was amazing on the show, I watched it from Kuwait live on Orbit News 1, you look beautiful and glowing as always, the decoration was amazing.
Today is my Birthday! my wish to you and to everyone around the world a blessed, healthy, peaceful, successful and prosperous year.
Another wish of mine is to meet you in person, it will be a great honor.

MARTHA---You and your staff always create crafts that represent beauty, quality, and originality. After completing one of your projects, two things come to mind: Know when to quit; and what have you got when you're finished?
Your ideas are never over-done, and you have something beautiful!! Thanks for all your good works!
All The Best, Jonathan Brown

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ROWAIDA! This sounds corny, but I was thinking of you this morning while getting ready for the day. I remembered you mentioned previously that December 17th was your birthday - it was easy to remember, 'cause it's my birthday, too! We're Christmas babies!
~
Have a wonderful day, kindred spirit! Hope it's the best-est birthday ever!
~
I ALWAYS enjoy your uplifting posts!

The Garland
.
Put thee a garland of roses round thy neck
I cannot tell which the rose is, or not,
The strident tone with which you beck
Causes me to hasten yet hide the fraught.
.
.
All speak of the beauty of the red red rose.
But my thoughts are of thee in the pink.
Extremely elegant is the descriptive prose.
Not see you a day my heart would sink.
.
.
The garland that bedecks you makes shine
All that is perfect and portrays elegance,
Your golden colored hair and manners fine,
To hear your voice, even my name, perchance.
.
.
How handsome he is as he stands waiting,
Plays with his bit, patiently suffers the plaiting,
Then his ears pick up, he repositions his feet,
She comes to the stable her friend to meet.
.
.
Standing proud 'til she is comfortably mounted,
This black beauty will tackle the job undaunted.
Robe in place, veil adjusted and reins in hand,
His Lady signals him his favorite command.
.
.
They are away to romp, when will they be back?
Peeping stars will find the garland round his neck!
She will quietly bed him down and feed him hay.
Others, will patiently wait for another day.
.

I just love how Trooper greeted you and Mary, Martha, as you were about to enter the studio - it appears like he's even posing for the picture! What a beautiful boy HE is!

I regretfully am not a crafter, but I've got to say that this holiday season's projects have been superb! - easy-looking and with minimal supplies. I DO love your punches and what one can create with them...gee whiz - maybe I'm not giving myself enough credit - maybe I AM crafty afterall [thinking out loud]...
~
The Today Show segments that you share always look like a lot of fun, and this particular set on the show was especially festive.

More snow is on the way this weekend which has caught me (the 'weather girl') totally unaware! Have a warm and comfycozy evening.

Hi Martha, To answer you latest 'tweet', yes, I did see the backstage photo of you and Hugh Grant and it was wonderful! You both look great! All of these photos were fantastic showing much of your beautiful craft projects for the holidays. I also loved the photo of you, Mary and Trooper the fabulous horse. This Today Show episode was one of the best. Your TV show today was so much fun! Everyone on the show, including the audience, look like they were having a wonderful time. Jan

We are now able to view your show here in Australia, and I am so enjoying it. I watch without fail every week-day.The wedding episode was fantastic and the "set" is decorated so beautifully with the backdrop of those wonderful New York skycrapers. I would like to see more craft and floral decorations done on the show as that part of the show gives so much inspiration. Thank you Martha.
