My Grandchildren Celebrated With Elmo!

Last March, when my grandchildren, Jude and Truman, were celebrating their birthdays, the Sesame Street character, Elmo, was a real favorite of theirs.  My daughter, Alexis and I decided that the theme of the birthday celebration would be Elmo, that furry red monster with a big orange nose and bulging white eyes.  Alexis took on all the food responsibilities.  A strict vegetarian and a mother who does not believe in serving rich or sweet food to the children, she took on the task of making interesting kid food that was also delicious and fun.  I agreed to decorate and provide as much Elmo as possible.  Having hosted the real Elmo on my television show several times over the years, I called Sesame Street and invited Elmo, who agreed to attend in life-size form.  This party was featured in my column in the March issue of Martha Stewart Living.  And, since we'll be celebrating Jude and Truman's birthday again this weekend, I thought it would be fun to post this blog.  Happy birthday, darlings!
