A magnificent view of Jordan Pond and the Bubbles
It's so wondrous to see loons nesting on Jordan Pond.
A better look at those amazing feathers
A stunning loon - Its beautiful markings indicate that it is a breeding adult. The plumage becomes less pronounced when not breeding.
Cheryl followed these two loons all the way up one side of the pond.
A loon beating its wings
A male hairy woodpecker feeding its young
This turtle has emerged from the pond to lay its eggs in a hole on the beach.
Gorgeous lupine
More lupine
And more lupine
A bee feasting on lupine
This duck is a a female common merganser making quite a racket.
She was obviously telling Cheryl to stay away. The merganser started out with 12 hatchlings and is now sadly down to 5.
This is a delicate iris growing at the northern end of Jordan Pond. It looks as though a spider has paid a visit.
More iris of Jordan Pond
The mother merganser is coaxing her ducklings into the pond.
Some swim, others prefer to ride.
A busy beaver - one of three that Cheryl sees most everyday.
An extraordinary pink lady slipper
A really great shot of a pair of yellow lady slippers
This is a cedar tree along the path around Jordan Pond. It's a favorite of many because of its unusual growth.
A view of Little Long Pond and the fog
The nest and babies of a Blue-headed Vireo that just built its nest near my house.
