A great trip to the South Beach Food and Wine Festival in sunny Miami!
I must not be traveling enough lately, because I spent this past weekend in Miami, Florida, participating in The Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival. This is always such a great event – four days of star-studded action-packed fun. On Saturday, I had yet another book signing and also demonstrated how to cook a lobster. Sarah Carey, who worked on the Cooking School book with me, was also there helping to prepare an amazing menu in front of quite a crowd. Please enjoy these photos and I’ll show you more from this Miami excursion on tomorrow's blog.

I am going to search for the pineapple recipe right now. It looks and sounds so delicious!

What's shakin' Martha?
Pic #1: You are such a poser!
Must check back here with a closer look at your Miami trip.
Lots of good food, I see. Can't help but think/smell hot, melted butter when I see broiled lobster (whose phylum is shared with shrimp and the cockroach). All tasty little scavengers! Can't indulge myself anymore but I still drool at the pics!
Looks like you finally found a sunny spot to thaw out...happy daze!

ACTIVITY, ACTIVITY, ACTIVITY!
It's like savoring an endless good meal. This... then that...then a touch of...later a taste of... then more again tomorrow!
KEEP FEEDING THAT APPETITE!
Signed,
Complete, replete with my napkin and a smile!

Lovely setting and a great spot to have a book signing. Sigh! I could use a little 'pool' time...can you tell...it's been a long winter!
Back to reality and painting baseboards.

...Martha, LOOK at you!...with your entourage-n-all! [giggle] You look grrr-e-a-t! (said how 'Tony the Tiger' would say it [another giggle] ). This time, it looks like Florida (the weather) was kind to you - look at that beautiful sky, would you?! White fluffy clouds! The azure sea reflecting the sky, and the white sand...another feast for the eyes AND soul! I really liked 'coming along' on this little extravanganza - maybe because of the warmer climate looking oh-soooo provocative and alluring, dare I say... We are STILL stuck in these cold temps (teens in the mornings), and some days I have so many layers of clothing on that I can hardly bend my arms (okay, I AM exagggerating a tad)...hope is on the horizon, though, yet this week, so it appears that we will get teased once again before Spring's official arrival! As a previous post mentioned last week, I AM enjoying the down-time (but admit I'm getting restless)...grass-mowing will begin around the first week of April, then it will be non-stop 'til Thanksgiving, sooooo... (ai yai yai!)
(...blah blublah blublah...)
I have to mention, while it's fresh in our heads, Martha, that I lovedlovedLOVED yesterday's show segment (Mon, 2/23) of Guy and Ben Wolff! (me too, Jan!) It was nice to see Guy and to get to know him (what a character!) and his 'child prodigy' Ben. Talk about passion! Can you imagine making your life's work out of something you LOVE?!! - well, you can relate, Martha... It's just wonderful that Ben will perpetuate this art form and the Wolff legacy. I learned of their wares thru you, Martha, years ago...I have coveted owning a pot for awhile, and whereas I CAN own one for as little as $8 (per Ben, yesterday), the ones that call my name are usually the ones that are several hundred dollars! (need I say more?!) Someday(?)... (big sigh!)
Well, (once again!) I've taken up enough space for today...what's next on the agenda, my Martha friend?...
=^..^=

Hi Martha,
I am just glad you got the great weather I predicted you would enjoy and it was probably a lot cooler than at the Book Fair in November. Yikes, that was really a hot day; I was melting!
You just made me so hungry for lobster but I think I will roast some pineapple instead and stay away from the yummy drawn butter. It was nice to see Sarah Carey with you - she is such a sweet gal!
Yesterday's show was a special treat! I really enjoyed it and just love your big copper pot. What a fantastic meal you prepared for an army! I look forward to seeing you on Jimmy Fallon's show sometime in the future. Trish

Beautiful Martha you looked fab woman! I see you brought your "buffer team" along with you they must have such fun traveling to all these neat places with a great job they all have.
It must be a real rush to have so many folks waiting for you, long lines and many books to sign. I get excited just seeing the crowds makes it fun.
The weather was good you got that sunshine you were hoping for.
Good that you to auction off three packages for cancer charit, giving back is the best gift of all besides one's free time to volunteer.
Enjoy your day.

Hi Martha, WOW! What a marvelous trip to Miami for the book signing and the Wine & Food Festival! OH, how I wish I could have been there to enjoy everything including the glorious weather! Your photos are once again fantastic. I love the ones of the delicious food. YUMMY!!!!! Rick Bayless really looks great and how nice that Sarah Carey got to accompany you for this event. She looked so happy. I love the Kitchen Aid products and if I ever need to replace my white mixer, I will definitely get your beautiful blue one. I noticed you were wearing your tan Merrell shoes. I have a pair just like them that I bought from 'Martha By Mail' several years ago and they sure are great. Thanks for sharing this trip with us. Jan

WOW! So great to see your pictures and comments about the Sagatiba booth. This booth did indeed have a wonderful combination of fantastic libations, lively bartenders, and a great bar set-up, built by The Design Group Miami!

Once again, great pictures! The seafood looks so good. I'll surely get your Cooking School Book.
The beach & sunshine is the place to be. Still waiting for warmer weather here in NY!

Hi Martha,
WOW! Today's warm sunny South Beach photos are a nice welcome. I received 21" of snow yesterday where I live in Maine so it was especially nice to see your photos.
Sarah's homemade apron is very whimsical and fun looking. Did you make it for her?

Martha,
thanks for the photo gallery, everyone obviously enjoying themselves, but as an Aussie I thought lobster rolls was just plain sacriledge to the lobster, also I don't know if others read these comments but bottom feeders are definite no no to pregnant women.
Once again thanks for the insight.

Hi Martha, You lucky duck you! Sunny Miami. What a treat, although you were working it, what with the book signings, cooking demonstrations and all that. Still, it looks like it was a fun time. I returned from Florida on the 17th after 6wks. there. Not Miami, Tampa and boy was it cold. What a disappointment. I still enjoyed it, after all, it was much warmer there than it was here in Alabama. Thanks for the pictures. Frances Jackson

Hi Martha,
My husband and I were at the Fontainebleau, the same weekend you visited Miami Beach for the Festival...love the Lapis Spa! We enjoyed our stay at the beautiful hotel and both commented on the gorgeous diaplays of the succulents.
Would you do a segement on your show on how to keep/display succulents as beautifully as the Fontainbleau did? I thought your viewers would enjoy the succulents, as well.
I would enjoy attending the taping of this segement, should it be considered!
Best,
