Happy Thanksgiving!
On Wednesday morning, I made my usual appearance on the Today show, and of course, it was all about Thanksgiving. I really love the tradition of this holiday and I especially love all the flavors of the traditional meal. Stuffing is one of my favorite parts of that meal and this year, I decided to make one using white bread, pecans, and dried cherries. There are many methods of roasting turkey, but a really foolproof way is Turkey 101, where the bird is draped in cheesecloth and basted with butter and wine. It develops a rich amber color and the meat is simply succulent. My very best wishes to all of you on this Thanksgiving day.
1 This is Norton, an English Mastiff - we made friends on my way into the Today show - what a great dog!!!!
11 On a sobering note - this lovely seven-year-old girl, in remission from a brain tumor, appeared on the Today show to talk with her parents about the St. Jude Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Francis and their daughter, Maerrit, were so calm and composed, having been through a horrible ordeal, reminding us that we all have so much to be thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving, Martha! I love the English Mastiff - he's awesome. I also liked the picture of Maerrit. It's so unfair that some of our beautiful children have to go through cancer. St. Jude's is an awesome place.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too! I'm making your mother's Polish Mushroom Soup today. I have made it before and it was delicious! Thanks for sharing it! However it is almost 70 here today so I'll probably only get my company to taste a small sample. Will have to send it home with them ( our weekend gets cooler). My daughter is living in NYC and called us from there because she went to the Parade today. I'm looking forward to the pictures even of them deflating the balloons and packing them up. I had no idea the City takes out light poles for the Parade! Thanks again for all your "tips", sharing your life in pictures and all you do! Kandy

Hi Martha! I've been watching your show since it aired on Lifetime Television at (I think) 11:00 PM each weeknight. And, you probably don't remember, but we actually had a long chat when you were in Cambridge, MA visiting (at Harvard). So now, I watch your show and Alexis and Jennifer's, too, as often as I can (thank God for TiVo!!). You (and Oprah) are the very best of this crazy business; you give so much of yourself, and (I'm sure you've heard this a million times before) you make me want to be a better person. Ever think of running for office?? Seriously!

Dear Martha,
Happy Thanksgivings to you.
But unfortunately I can't see your TV program here in Asia.
I really miss watching your shows and learning good things from you every day when I lived in New York.It always brings me warm and happy.
Would you consider selling your TV program rights and air them in local TV station here in Asia?
I'd really like to see you everyday on TV if you would consider this.
If you do, please let me know.
Or if you are representated in Asia, please let me know the contact.
Best Wishes,
PERI HUANG

Turkey 101 saved my Thanksgiving, I added Emril's bacon and herd roast to it! It was Great and a Good thing!

Martha
Your turkey 101 was a smash hit here. I've cooked turkeys for over 35 years and this is the best way ever!! I was a bit skeptical, but my husband was so impressed with the nice crispy skin and the juicy meat we are totally sold on this method and will use it from now on.

I'm still amazed that whenever I watch your show I always come away with greater proficiency at something. Isn't that what great television is about? Today it was a Greek Filo pastry treat that was super easy (I think I'll make a mini one and try it out). Another time you gave me confidence to try the Flip cam, and now I enjoy taking videos. Thank you, and God bless you for making me a better, more skilled person.
P.S. Anyone who can show how to right oneself in a kayak and still be at ease is alright by me! You go girl!

Hello Martha, I have a question. Some time ago you had a recipe for HOW TO MAKE HOME made marshmellow's? I can"t find a recipe anywhere. Can you help???
Posted by: terrie hildebrant | November 27th, 2009 at 7:01 pm
To Terrie Hildebrant,
I don't think Martha will mind that I took the liberty of hunting up this marshmallow recipe for you because I too have always wanted to make them. They looked so delicious when she made them on her show with the help of a neighbor boy I believe. Here's the link:

These are great photos. Lol! Thank you. That stuffing looks to die for. Oh, I've got to watch the clip and get the recipe.

Just before Thanksgiving you had a show about Mushrooms and you featured an special chestnut slicing unit. I have searched the internet and I am not able to find it anywhere. It looked like a garlic press, and scored the chestnuts prior to putting them in the oven or in a frying pan. I would love to order one of these for a special friend for Christmas and I would appreciate your help. Thank you
