1 My green parlor with its faux bois painted walls, is decorated with ivory feather trees with various shades of green, silver, and gold ornaments.
2 A close up of a gold tree with fancy balls and pine cones
3 This tree, set in a marble planter, features shiny and matte balls and silver mercury glass candy canes.
4 These feather trees are propped on antique iron plant stands and have birch log bases.
5 A mirror image in the other corner
6 Gilded and bejeweled objects adorn this side table.
7 The center hall's green marble table is propped with a green mercury glass globe.
8 Little mercury glass reindeer surround the silver bowl.
9 This metallic feather tree is decked with pearly white and clear balls and draped with long tinsel-like strands of yarn from the Lion Brand Martha Stewart Crafts, called Glitter Eyelash in Sterling.
10 Another metallic tree with pearly balls clustered around its trunk. Silver metallic wreathes hang on the windows.
11 These glass icicles look so real.
12 There are even glittered songbirds here and there.
13 Which is fitting because this is my bird room!
14 Some of my Red Factor Canaries, which sing so beautifully
15 My drabware nativity set
16 Moving into the servery - my glittered Noah's ark is set up next to the sink.
17 These are little plastic toy animals covered with glitter.
18 Across the way are more metallic feather trees covered with feathered and glittered birds.
19 Some look so life-like.
20 So sweet
21 Surrounding the base is real moss, adorned with a little woodland scene.
22 Another bird tree sits on the island of the servery.
23 And another little woodland scene
24 The mantle in the brown room features fuzzy moose from the Martha Stewart Christmas Collection at Grandin Road. http://www.grandinroad.com/
25 The moose have such nice faces.
26 And, of course, polar bears - also from Grandinroad
27 Another nice face
28 Pink and red ornaments were chosen for the brown room. This feather tree sits in a cement planter and is surrounded by artificial snow.
29 One of the larger tinsel trees with red balls and candy cane icicles
30 The large tinsel trees are gold metallic.
31 The entrance to The Summer House with a gold-colored wreath
32 The interior, which is painted a golden dusty yellow, is decorated with a gold and silver theme.
33 This is one of the mantles.
34 A closeup of the mantle decor
35 And this is the music parlor.
36 The mantle has gilded pine cone trees on either side of the antique gilded bullseye mirror, which is topped with a gargoyle.
37 A closeup of a pine cone tree
38 Gold tinsel trees with large golden ornaments
39 I ordered several Martha Stewart Shooting Stars from Grandin Road.
40 These shooting star ornaments create a spectacular nighttime impression.
41 The crew hung them from trees.
42 And on the buildings - Notice the extension cord? It's beige in color and I found them at Home Depot.
43 The stars were hung on chimneys - They have a dramatic 18-foot-long tail.
44 One was even hung on the corn crib.
45 A couple of the apple trees were strung with lights and decorated with giant silver balls.
46 Aglow at dusk
47 Shooting stars with a full moon rising
48 Shooting star at the stable
49 And the the corn crib with its shooting star
BEATIFUL!!!!!!!
Oh!, to be Martha Stewart for a while and be surrounded by all of the beauty.
Have you thought about opening your farm for tours during Christmas and give the profits to a charty, or needy fammilies? It would be a huge success!!!!!

This is lovely. Simple, yet elegant. Just love it!! I am also a huge fan of your shooting star
ornaments. I shall have to check them out!! Thank you for the tour Martha.

Elegant. Brings out the kid in me so I can imagine that Jude will love to go to grandma's and especially at holiday time. Just a suggestion however for pic 42. Great to find extension cords the same color as the clapboards but why not take the cord to the right nonfacing side of the dormer, secure it along the valley formed by the house roof and dormer, then to the top of the dormer along its roof and down to the shooting star from there. In that configuration there's only a few feet of the cord showing. Mery Christmas to you and your family.

Hi Martha, AWESOME! The Christmas decorations inside and outside of your beautiful Bedford farm are absolutely spectacular!! Everyone of your photos is perfect and stunning-I love seeing all of them again and again! Every size of the trees is fascinating and the decorations on each tree is overwhelmingly beautiful! The mercury glass globe is gorgeous! I adore everyone of those glittered songbirds-might even be my favorite decor, but I love it all! Love seeing some of you beautiful Red Factor Canaries-can almost hear them! The Navity and Noah's Ark are very special! Also love all of the woodland scenes! The moose on your mantle are darling and so are the polar bears! The Summer House is gorgeous, also! Your crew did another great job setting up those shooting star ornaments outside-wonderful! The decorated apple trees and the corn crib are superb! I'm sure Baby Jude loved it all! I also love the decorations F&S added and shared on The Daily Wag!! Hope you have a great day! Jan

Hi Martha,
What a nice Christmas welcome to your guests! Everything is beautiful - I especially like the center hall table with the green mercury glass globe and the sparkly foliage with the reindeer. I also wondered how someone took that picture without showing their reflection! It would be fun to hear the oohs and aahs of the guests. Thanks for sharing and I too look forward to seeing your party pictures. Trish

Very nice, Martha! I love the trio of feather trees in the corner of the green room on the iron plant stands. In some of the photographs they look like they are floating! A very neat effect. And I love the understated elegance of the Summer House with its golds and browns. Very nice. Merry Christmas, Martha, to you and your family!

I love the Grandin Road polar bears. I have three sets of them. My dachshunds find them intersting too. The bird trees are my favorite this year. What do you use to keep the big trees on the plant stands from tipping over? Museum wax or something like that?
Posted by: Chadwick | December 19th, 2011 at 11:47 am
The polar bears were my favorite! What a beautiful display! Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Your home and guest house looks so elegant and festive! All your trees are beautiful, but my favorite are the bird trees. I enjoy looking at photos of your home all decked out for the holidays. The lighting on the grounds are simply beautiful. I love the shooting star design on your house and stable, and corn crib. When lit, the photos could be Christmas cards. I especially love how the old apple trees look, with the lights and the large silver balls. Lovely...

O Christmas trees!! Very lovely and beautifully orchestrated colors. The shooting stars are fabulous!! And, Martha, even your electrical cords are coordinated. As it should be...i often see cords in various colors that give an unpleasing look...especially during the day. I personally like the outdoor decor to look as pretty in the daytime as well as the evening...lots of greenery with a gardenish look. This year i made the swag with the mercury bells and jingle bells that was featured in a previous Living issue. I am happy to say it turned out very nicely. I also like it because it's different as well as elegant. My version of 'Silver Bells' in the City.

Martha, your home is lovely. I especially loved the shooting stars. This year I made the cardboard village from your website, as well as glittered candleholders with the grazing deer. I kept one and gave the rest away. Everyone loved them.

GORGEOUS. I got so wrapped up in looking at details, I missed deadline for sleigh sweep!! That's ok, I never win anything anyway,at least I got something outta looking at pics! There's always next year? I was fasinated with the feather trees I saw on your show last year and maybe I had them in mind this year when my sweetheart announced that he couldn't live one more second with my rickety coat hook, which,of course I couldn't live one more second without! "It doesn't even stand up straight and its missing a hook!" Minor details like that bore me but alas, maybe he was right.. As he was bullying the poor ole thing out the door,he walked a little taller thinking of all the other treasures that should get the boot too, I realized how simular it was to the feather trees I so loved. WAIT!! Can I at least save the hooks that ARE there?!! Leave it on the porch and I'll get my screwdriver! Hmm.. I took off the hooks, grabbed my stash of weathered dowels from the garden and started for the attic where my halloween costumes were and got to work. Luckily I too was a Raven a couple of years ago(thanks for that idea,to date I must say was the BEST costume ever)! My coat hook has gotten quite the repreve. I sprayed the whole thing a light coat of silver over the dark wood and black feathers, hung all light blue decorations and it is once again one of my prize possessions. LOVE IT! I might even be a feather tree for halloween next year! Haha.

Shooting Stars at Christmas
.
Stunning fir cones of every shape and size.
Colored balls and tinsel help you realize,
Your in a wonderland of gilds and glitters,
And many different forms of critters.
Make believe birds that nestle, but cannot dart,
Enchanting Red Canaries with a real beating heart.
Nativity scene with beautiful camels there,
And Brother Noah with animals by the pair,
More sweet little bird ornaments, some with feather,
Woodland scenes with moose on the mantle, together;
Just another pretty face, or two; a large tinsel tree,
Gold, with red balls and candy cane icicles, to see.
A Summer House, its gold colored wreath on the door,
Inside, painted golden dusty yellow, and there's more,
Decorated mantles, a bullseye mirror in the music room,
A charming gargoyle atop, that sweeps away any gloom.
Look around, a shooting star, there's magic in the air.
Another shooting star and moon all glinting over there;
The darling corn crib, and singing, if you listen,
True beauty, as the cobblestones start to glisten.
A sigh, hear the sleigh bells jingling, whence?
And shining lights from the ancient trees, cuddled within their fence.
.
.
Merry Merry Christmas to all, may your smallest dream come true.......celia

Your house looks amazing. Have a Happy Holiday especially with your new grand daughter. I am looking for the recipe for prosciutto and cheese you spread on bread. A woman chef who owns a restaurant in the city made it on one of your shows a couple of weeks ago. Thanks

You will have to put all of this stuff up come next year when baby Jude is walking and getting into things. Welcome to reality gramma. lol

I have to giggle: the Mercury glass globe is missing a reflection of the photographer but I'm pretty sure I see a pair of legs in the silver punch bowl supporting it! : )

Those shooting star lights are the best ! Great decorations! Thank you for putting them on the blog. So many of your decorations must call for special care when packing up after the holiday. May I suggest that you consider showing photos on the blog of how some special items are wrapped or boxed, etc. for storage. Important ornaments deserve good care and I know you do take good care of these beautiful objects.

You worked very hard and steel do, I hope you live at least as long as your mom did and be able to keep enjoying the fruits of your labor. "Che bellissima tenuta"! Which means what a beautiful estate in italian. We all thank you for letting us peek at such wonderful scenes that are part of your life. I hope your daughter really appreciates you and deserves to have you as a mother.

Thank you for sharing your elegant home decor! Did you make any of the decorations yourself? You have done much to inspire creativity and the almost lost art of homemaking in American women. Your story about antique linens touched my heart. My grandmother had a home business making intricate and beautiful Portuguese embroidered handwork. I recall her house with a large oval room where the women sat along the walls, making their perfect stiches and chatting happily! Some of "Mama's" linens are my cherished treasures.
