Martha, when you blog about your farm I can usually pick my favorite picture of the bunch, but this morning everytime I thought okay, this one is my favorite I clicked on the next picture and changed my mind. They're all my favorite!
What an accurate description you gave, everything looked like it was coated with a delicious white frosting. Thank you so much for sharing your farm with us, you make your fans more happy than you could ever know!

Hi Martha,
To quote Victoria Miller: "Thank you for this view into a world which would be otherwise unknown to many!" Beautiful pictures and who else but you gets up early enough to take them. I can almost picture you by the kitchen door waiting for it to be light enough. I haven't seen anything like this in years so it was quite a treat. I still don't miss snow though! Thanks and have a wonderful weekend. Trish

Hi Martha,
I love how you described the snowfall on your farm - like a picturesque frosting. Indeed it was. After viewing your lovely photos too, it makes me want to sit by a warm fire in the fireplace and drink a hot cup of cocoa while thumbing through The Best of Martha Stewart Living Cakes & Cupcakes or the current issue of Martha Stewart Living on my iPad. That's what I would love to do but instead I have to go to work. But for a tiny fraction of a second (or really about 5 minutes) i could only dream of doing this all because of the beatufiul photos on your blog. Thank you for starting my day off dreaming happy thoughts. It was the perfect start to my day.
Happy Friday and have a wonderful weekend.:-)

Dear Martha-
Again, these photos are truly beautiful. Their composition is beautiful as is their clarity and as you mentioned in one of themthe lighting in someis spectacular!! There'snothinglike the crispness of a bearable winter air. One of your photos is of a variety of chestnut tree and its mention transported me to, sometime ago, the streets of NYC during the holidays when vendors sold roasted chestnuts to pedestrians. For some reason winter's cold air and the smell of roasted chestnuts were an absolutely glorious experience.

Hi Martha, OMG! What a beautiful Valentine's Day morning that was! How wonderful that you went out very early to take all of these stunning, awesome photos all around your farm and then shared it with us! I love every bit of it and your comments are super! This blog is another reason we would love to see a new book showing us your farm and animals at all times of the year! You could also include Skylands and your Hampton home! It would be awesome to enjoy many times! The dusted snow sticking to all of your trees, the paddock fencing, the burlap covers, the pergola, the corksscrew hazel, the old apple trees, and everything else visible at your beautiful farm was awesome! The garden fence looked awesome with the dusted snow sticking to it and it was hard to see inside! The sculpted European hornbeam hedge was gorgeous! Once the beautiful sunrise appeared everything looked more beautiful! I will have fun viewing this blog all weekend! How fun to see you and Gyurme in photo # 68, also! You both looked very happy! Sure hope you have a nice weekend and I want to wish Sharkey Happy Birthday on Monday the 18th which is also President's holiday! Off to see The Daily Wag with GK visiting the tropical greenhouse! Best wishes to Francesca, also! God Bless all of you! Jan

I often have to bite my tongue when I hear people complaining about winter. I agree that the layers of clothing and the shoveling and the 'inconvenience' of it can get a bit tedious over time, but there are days like this one on your farm when winter seems to be the most beautiful season of the year! There is a special light to the season that occurs at no other time of the year, and a silence and a stillness that is so peaceful and beautiful. I'm glad to experience winter every year here in Canada and I'm not sure I could do without it. Your photos are absolutely beautiful!

Photo 68 is beautiful but around these parts, exposed skin gets frostbite quickly. Now it comes to me, Dakota large round bales covered with snow could easily be mistaken for your sensibly burlap wrapped winter objects. I am sick of snow!

Hi again Martha,
I wonder if Celia Stock might see these gorgeous pictures and write one of her fabulous poems! We can hope! Anyway, I haven't seen her writings in awhile and I miss them. Here's a cute one she wrote about the black dress you wore when you were honored by The Olana Parnership at the New York Public Library:
I would travel the mighty oceans,
and never give a care.
I would climb the highest mountains,
and take on any dare.
I would sing and dance forever,
take a thousand tours,
If only I had a little black dress,
that looked as good as yours.
.
.
Luv and best wishes always.

Hi Martha,
I just knew you would have some lovely photos of the snowstorm! I waited anxiously to see what you might reveal. Living at the foothills of the Appalachians, in NC, we haven't gotten to experience any snow this year, as of yet. I know winter isn't over yet, so we are still hoping for at least a little snow, because we all love it so much. But for now, I want to thank you for sharing your photos and your comments. I actually felt like I was walking in your shoes and peaking through the lens of your camera. Your farm looked like a magical, snow laden, postcard.
Martha, I have admired you and your contribution to our lives for so very long.
Keep giving us more of your "Good thing".
Sincerely, Angela from Appalachia

Thank you for sharing. Nothing like that here in Florida. I especially liked the texture shown in some of the pictures. 43 and 71 were very very good. I have never seen the snow on burlap or chain link fences and it was eye catching. Leave it to you to remind us of the beauty of the snow instead of complaining like most do. Thanks again. We miss Big Martha. I enjoyed seeing her once again on some of the Christmas and Thanksgiving repeat shows. Lucky you to have little Jude now.

I can't get enough pictures of your beautiful farm. Each of these photos could be hung on a wall - they are stunning - architechtural, natural and the colors are amazing.
I love winter and seasons in general. Here it's amazing to see the quiet and hibernation of winter knowing (as you said yesterday) that in a few short months it will be peonies and tulips! This planet is astonishing.
It's a good demonstration of the benefits of burlapping everything!
You should make a calendar of these farm pictures and raise money for a charity.
Love you Martha! I'm still missing your TV show sooooooooooo much!

Martha something is seriously wrong with the links to Amazon from your site's Shopping Cart. Just spent 6 hours going round and round trying to get some of your books sent to me but Amazon kept going in loops and finally when I did get to the Shipping address it just refused to accept it, despite my having always used this shipping address with Amazon & other sites before. Must have tried 20 times to make sure every required field was accurate. No joy tho! So tried link to your Shipping Address Tips page only to be told it doesn't exist. AAaargh!! Help!!
I'd put this into a Help department from your site, but there isn't one.

I'm near Grinder's Switch in Hickman Co., Tenn. (yes, home of Minnie Pearl). I have hardly caught a glance of a snowflake this entire supposed Winter, Martha. Snow is my favorite thing in this world and being a musician makes my soul simply crave for a two or three day event that much more! Mother Nature is so out of balance! I grew up with wonderful Tennessee Winters. The trees are being clear cut in vast numbers all around and the environment is changing drastically. It was simply fate that I checked in on your blog and found these astounding, magical pictures of yours! I could make snow angels galore. I bet you could whip up some mean snow cream! I'm still praying for a glorious snowfall before the end of March!

Thank you for keeping us up to date with life on the farm and all kinds of other lovely information from your days!
I'd like to know how you keep your birdfeeders from being instantly emptied by squirrels! i have to go to elaborate lengths to keep the squirrels away from my feeders (which I do, by the way) so to see yours just hanging made me wonder!

Beautiful pictures !! Thank you for sharing. I was looking at your visit to the wine tasting in I believe Florida and the people who accompanied you and then I was looking at the pictures of the chicken coup...and it made me think of that chicken delight comment I made..funny how things can be remembered

These photos are simply breathtaking Martha! I hope you don't mind me pinching some for my Christmas cards this year! (Yes I'm rather over prepared but that's the first thing these snowy landscapes made me think of!)
