An Update on My Beautiful Cats
So many of you have commented on how much you enjoy seeing photos of my pets. Most recently, I was asked to share an update on my beautiful cats, my seal point Himalayan, Bartok, and my dominant calico Persians, Princess Peony and Empress Tang. As you will see, all three cats are doing very well, and are enjoying this transition to cooler autumn weather.
And, although my cats don’t like to veer away from their various routines - those of you who share your home with feline friends know what I am talking about - they all paused, and posed, just long enough for these snaps to be taken. Enjoy…
This is my handsome Bartok - at 19-years old, he is the eldest of my three cats. He has the most beautiful blue eyes, and looks just as wonderful now as he did when he was a kitten.
Every morning at six o'clock, he cries for breakfast. Here he was in the kitchen near the kitty buffet.
A variety of food is left out for my cats every day at the kitty buffet. Each bowl has something different, and all the food is refreshed daily. The cream colored bowls are from the Martha Stewart Pets line exclusively at PetSmart. http://www.petsmart.com/featured-shops/dog/cat-36-catid-800424
Bartok is a very good eater. Cats are true carnivores, meaning they need to eat meat. Bartok and his sisters are fed both wet and dry food, which they absolutely love.
Every morning at 6:15, I let the cats outside. Here is the elegant Empress Tang out on my porch. She and Princess Peony are six years old. All the cats stay close to my house and enjoy the fresh air.
My cats definitely like their routines - they like to eat and go out at the same times, and they like to sleep and lounge in the same places.
When the cats are outside, I always leave the same two doors ajar, so they are able to come back indoors whenever they need to, and whenever they want to.
Here was Empress Tang walking along the stone wall of my terrace parterre early one foggy morning.
But they also love their naps! Here is Empress Tang in one of the many pet beds I keep around the house. This one is at the top of the stairs. It is from the Martha Stewart pets collection exclusively at PetSmart. http://www.petsmart.com/featured-shops/cat/cat-36-catid-800425?ab=marthastewartmicrosite_dog_nav_shopcat
I always cover the pet beds and all the pets' favorite resting spots with towels. Doing this keeps these areas extra clean, and extra cozy.
My precious Princess Peony is a little more shy - she loves relaxing in the basement. Here she is on top of a large laundry and ironing table, one of her favorite places. She also loves to sleep in the basement at night.
Sometimes Peony enjoys the cool tile floors in the basement, or up high on a shelf, but she also has a comfy pet bed to lay in whenever she wants.
Bartok loves to sleep on the chairs in my dining room. Here he was napping on a chair tucked under the dining room table.
And, here he was napping on another chair in the same room. Cats definitely sleep a lot. At night, Bartok likes to sleep underneath the canary cage.
Tang sleeps with me at night, but since Francesca and Sharkey also like to sleep in my bed, it's sometimes a battle for the best spot.
I also keep several bowls of fresh water out for the cats. Cats can be finicky drinkers, but it's important they stay well hydrated. And, just in case you were wondering, the four doggies do not have access to the kitty buffet or their water, which are kept in my servery.
And, here's another cat that's become very popular around my farm - I've been calling her Blackie.
She is extremely friendly - she loves people and is always ready for a rub. She gets a lot of attention, and good care, from everyone at the farm.
