A Book Signing at Costco
Another fun book signing for “Appetizers”.
This week, I conducted a two-hour book signing at Costco, one of the top retailers in the United States. The store sells many, many books, and has always done very well promoting and selling the Martha Stewart titles.
This event was very successful - we sold more than 400-books at the Bridgewater, New Jersey warehouse. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the customers, and doing a little shopping of my own. Enjoy our photos…
This was my third book signing at the Costco in Bridgewater, New Jersey, just a little more than an hour from our offices in New York City. http://www.costco.com
The crowd at this Costco was already lined up by the time I entered the warehouse. It was so nice to see such an enthusiastic group of people excited about my latest book, "Appetizers".
It was a pretty large crowd - the lines serpentined through two aisles of the store.
This was the backdrop for the signing area - in the center of the clothing department.
This Costco was very well prepared with a large supply of books.
The line was very organized - Costco used red rope stanchions to keep visitors on one side of the aisles, so other customers could still shop.
These guests bought multiple books - they were already thinking about the holidays, and purchased them as gifts for friends and family. Have you started planning for the holiday season? It will be here before we know it.
Whenever I conduct book signings, I always try to stop for photos when possible - it's very important to keep the line moving, but also to take time to meet with the customers.
I met a lot of children at this book signing - always fun to meet members of the next generation of cooks.
This sweet little girl kept calling me "Princess Martha".
Whenever I sign any book, I always bring my own supply of pens - color coordinated to the book I am promoting. I am a big fan of Le Pen by Marvy.
On this day, Costo had just received the first load of pumpkins for the season - hard to believe it's already October.
This rotisserie chicken, at about seven-dollars each, is one of the top three most popular items to buy at Costco. It sells more than 100-thousand of them every day.
Bottled water is the second best-selling item at Costco.
And, the number-one best seller is Bounty paper towels! I may just have to get a supply of them, too.
A school in the area lost power the day of this book signing, so several of the moms decided to pick up their daughters, and attend the signing. It was very nice to meet this group.
Here was another nice family buying my book - they'll have lots of fun making my "Appetizers" dishes.
Here was the children's book section. Costco carries a big variety of children's books.
If you haven't already gotten your copy of my 85th book, "Appetizers", you can purchase it at any of the more than 675 Costco warehouse stores.
Here I was taking a "selfie" with our security guard from Costco.
Here is the Bridgewater, New Jersey Costco team!
I was very pleased to meet Jerry and Annette Berkowitz - they are the in-laws of LeighAnn Ambrosi, one of my publicists at the Magrino Agency.
Before I left, I signed a big poster for the Costco employee break room.
But I couldn't leave without doing a little shopping first. I bought 400-pounds of bird seed. It was a great deal at 16-dollars per 40-pound bag. I have about 45-bird feeders at my Bedford farm that are filled regularly for the many, many birds that visit. And, I just had to purchase some of their "number-one best seller" - Bounty paper towels.
