More photos of Paw Paw's grandsons -- cute!
Now at 7 and 1/2 weeks old! It's not going to be easy to choose one.
Another serious Cute Overload. Please see the original post about Paw Paw's grandsons for more information. And don't forget to click below to continue reading and to see more photos.

They are so cute!!! I bet you can't wait to get your puppy. Have you decided which one you may get? I had originally hoped for puppy #1 in previous pics, but now I don't know. I've always found the breeder, who lives day in & day out with the pups, knows their personality; so it may depend on the temperment type you're looking for. Can't wait to see more pics, & what pup you decide on! I bet Sharkey & Francesca will be excited when another playmate arrives!:)

Wouldn't it be a "good thing" to adopt all three brothers - in honor of their Granddad? What a treasure to keep the siblings together. Paw Paw would be very pleased & most grateful as he looks down from Doggy Heaven on his progeny.

I think you should keep them all they are so cute. Then we can have up dates and can see how they are doing.

Martha,
You must be so excited to know that soon a part of Paw Paw will be back in your loving home. I know as a 'fan' of Paw Paw I am excited to see future commercial's, photo shoots, and grand entrances on the set of my favorite inspiration television show, MARTHA. Looking forward to something, Big! BIg! BIG!...

Martha,
I wanted to say I loved the link-Cute Overload I saved it to my 'favorites' and will share it with all my friends...I especially loved the deer that was saved from the water, goddness.
Posted by: michael anthamatten | July 28th, 2008 at 6:57 pm
OMGosh these are soooo cute. How will you ever decide? I was going to vote for the one on the right(top picture) but then I like to go for "smart" so the one in the middle actually "looks" the smartest to me. The most alert anyway. Very cute. Thanks for sharing bits and pieces of your real life.

You've got to get all three. They are the cutest puppies I've ever seen. Martha, you just made my day showing these photos today on your blog. I know you're torn between what decision to make. Just do whatever you want and that is that. I just so envy whoever gets any of these precious babies. Paw Paw is in all three. Your envious friend. Nan

Martha,
We, your devoted readers, will not rest until you tell us you are getting them ALL!!!
Come on, what's the use of being rich if you can't have all three dogs?!?
They need you!
Posted by: Charlotte K | July 28th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
It just breaks my heart to think that you're going to seperate those little darlings. How can you only take one - you MUST take all three. They are just precious. Thank you for the pictures.

Wow, they are really starting to look like chows...so cute! What do Sharkey and Francesca think about this? Let us know which one you pick and what you name him.

Those are the cutest puppies I've ever seen...it's going to be so hard to pick one!
Posted by: Wendy | July 28th, 2008 at 7:35 pm
Oh my goodness!!! Sooo adorable! Their personalities are definitely coming through. (From left to right)There's the "social one," "the leader," and the "laid back fella." Personally, I would go with the laid back fella. But if you are looking for a show dog,"the leader" looks like he could really command attention. The laid back fella reminds me most of Paw Paw. I always loved how laid back he was. I so look forward to seeing one of his grandsons' accompany you on the show and in the magazines!

Gosh Martha those are just the cutest pups. They look like flat nosed brown bears. I think you might want to think of naming your new little guy "Bear" or "Mukluk". Have fun choosing the perfect puppy to bring home. e

They are soooooo sweet. I am so glad it is not me having to choose just one!

Oh Martha, get all three!!! "My Three Grandsons"!!!!! Mike, Robbie and Chip!
Posted by: gilda | July 28th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
Hi Martha, These are the cutest puppies! They seem to be getting cuter with each new posting. I would love to see a video of them playing and not just posing. They have the posing down pat! It is getting harder to decide which one you should get. I would chose the one on the right in most of the photos. Good luck choosing! Oh, I just saw an ad for your crafts at Walmart. Really cute ad and you look great! I want a new puppy! Jan
Posted by: Jan Erickson | July 28th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
I vote for #3..all are just so sweet..can't you take them all??
Posted by: susan | July 28th, 2008 at 8:42 pm
My goodness, this will be a tough decision to make. Good luck!
Posted by: Maureen | July 28th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
Martha,
I think that they are so close that they would all be a goodthing. They appear to work as one in interpreting their surroundings. They would make very intuitive spies. (smile)

They are all so adorable. They look like little stuffed teddy bears.
How old do they have to be before they can come home?
Posted by: Kyle | July 28th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
I think the one on the left looks most like PawPaw. . . if that matters.
What a tough (but wonderful!) decision.
Posted by: Lisa | July 28th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
I disagree with those who say "you're rich so you should take all of them..." that's hogwash. Not that you wouldn't give them love and attention but maybe not as much as just one? You KNOW the Frenchies will be all atwitter so maybe two? OH they will get over it and love the new boy like they did his grandpa..
Posted by: Lisa | July 28th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
Oh, they are so over-extra-cute. You should get all 3. They all look the same to me
Posted by: Gigi | July 28th, 2008 at 11:58 pm
Those puppies are so cute! They all deserve a loving home and someone who will take good care of them- You! TAKE THEM ALL!!!
Posted by: Danielle | July 29th, 2008 at 12:31 am
Martha
I have the solution for you, buy all three you take one, give the next door neighbor the other so they can play from time to time and give the third one to me! ( Okay I tried can't blame a chow gal for trying, my chow is now 12/2)
If you plan to show your new doggie then in pix number 5 the one on the right has the best mask thus far. All are great looking chow pups. Paw Paw would be so proud! Can you see him prancing around in dog heaven!
Ask Martha was fun today thanks for tasking my call.

I am so very sorry for your loss. But you certainly have a wonderful future with Paw Paw's grandson. What a wonderful way to recover. I am still recovering from the loss of a dear pet...at
four 1/2 Cockateal-Frodo, and his eight year old sister a Parakeet -Baby. They were both so dear to my heart. We are looking forward to getting a new baby Cockateal from baby stage. That will be at the end of August.
I feel very happy for you and pray for your future with your new ball of fur to pester Sharky and Francesca. They will have thier "paws" full when the puppy starts running the house. God Bless you all.
Posted by: Karen Griffin | July 29th, 2008 at 12:49 am
I noticed that their furs arent as blonde as Paw Paw. I like Paw Paw golden blonde better
Posted by: Jason | July 29th, 2008 at 12:49 am
I love all "3" of Paw Paw's Grandson's, if I were you Martha I would take all "3" it would be hard to split them up! They are gorgeous!! Paw Paw would be so PROUD!
Posted by: Lyn Strohbehn | July 29th, 2008 at 1:31 am
It is simple. You need all three. You have the love, financial means, and the help you need to raise them and care for them.

I love Gilda's comment, My Three Grandsons - Mike, Robbie and Chip, now that is cute overload.
Martha, when will you be bringing your bundles of JOY home? I'm saying bundles because I know you want all three
I would love to see all the dogs, Franchesca, Sharkey and the"BOYS" on your season premier!!! I'm hoping to get tickets....

Of course the answer is to take all three!!
Posted by: bernadette | July 29th, 2008 at 6:42 am
Martha,
They are adorable. Have you taken Francesca and Sharky to visit the puppies? I think you should see which one interacts best with Francesca and Sharky to help decide which one to bring home. Picking on looks alone would be impossible, based on their cute factor. Keep us posted, which ever one you choose will be one lucky little guy.

Posted by: Robin | July 29th, 2008 at 6:57 am
You weren't kidding about the cute overload. They're ADORABLE! I think the one in the middle (on the last two photos) should be your pick...if you're only choosing one. It really has that "stance" which I became used to seeing in your photos of PawPaw. I also found a website with popular Chinese names for pets. They don't provide any information about what the names might mean, but there are some good ones. My top picks from the list: Ting Ting, Manchu, and (for a misbehaving pup!) Rong.
Here's the site if you want to take a look:

You must take them all Martha...
I have recently added 2 Japanese Chin puppies to our family, they are brothers, and it was the best move that I could have ever made...
They were born together, they will be raised together, they are lost without each other and I wouldn't have it any other way...
What a legacy they would be to your family...
The only downside is the vet bills times three, but I'm thimking that you could handle that one just fine...
Posted by: Renay | July 29th, 2008 at 7:50 am
You simply MUST get all three of these guys in order to continue Paw-Paw's legacy! Can you imagine the photos you would have as a chronicle of the pups growing up together? The two "Frenchies" are together. Why not adopt the triplets?
Posted by: Linda Boullard | July 29th, 2008 at 8:41 am
Oh...my...gosh!!! TOO cute!! I agree with another post...you have to have all three! Paw Paw would be proud. Enjoy the new puppy(ies!).

They are all beautiful, however, I think the one with the strongest presence, is the big one on the far left of the picture. He is grand! Good luck in deciding.
Posted by: Brenda Reynolds | July 29th, 2008 at 9:22 am
OK, I have never posted before but really, how can I resist this? Martha, you must have all three, that's all there is to it. Look at them, already posing in their little championship stances. It makes me drool, they're so adorable.

Hi Martha,
You're going to have a tough time choosing for sure; they certainly are adorable! I like the one on the left. In the next to the last picture, he has Paw Paw's pose, eyes and all! I miss Paw Paw. Trish

What outstanding quality. It is always nice to see beautiful animals from responsible breeders. What a fantastic diplomat you and your chows have been for our breed. I love the heavy puppy on the left side of the picture, what a mug on him!

Hi Martha.
i am sorry about your loss of paw paw. i have competed against paw paw at dog shows with my dog goliath.i know you have difficult decision to make as to which pup to take.i have contacted karen tracy about getting one of her pups so please don't take all three.i am longing for one of her pups as i have loss my chow goliath to cancer. all of her pups look like goliath as well as paw paw looked liked goiliath and paw paw could of been related to goliath.he came from jane wiess who is part of paw paw blood line.
thank you for allowing me to make a request.again my deepest sympathy for your loss

martha,
here's my opinion of the three puppies, since their grandsons of paw paw, i think you should take all three of them, they are a part of paw paw and watching him all these years, he was a big part of your life. so please take all three, you'll love them as you did with paw paw

(...majority rules!...sounds like everyone votes to take all three!..)
These little guys have grown! And they ARE sooooo adorable! My favorite picture has all three looking full-faced into the camera, with the middle one's head down a little lower than the others'. Gee whiz...it makes me feel like printing the picture and placing it alongside my beloved cats! They (all!-including mine) bring such joy and a sense of calm when I look at them! =^..^=
Posted by: Cindy Bricker | July 29th, 2008 at 11:45 am
Hi,
I wouldn't get more than one, because then they will bond with each other; not with you. We once had a dog (Samoyed, also cute)that bonded with other dogs, and he wasn't able to be trained properly, and wasn't a good family dog. My mother ended up sending him to a place where the couple had lots of Samoyeds - the perfect place for him. Cheers

You have GOT to take all three of them! How could you not with those cute wittle smooshy wooshy faces??

Take them all! They are so cute and there faces all show a different personality, how could you pick just one?
Posted by: Sandra May | July 29th, 2008 at 1:04 pm
They're all cute though I'd pick a girl - there's less "mess" in the long-run, in my experience (I have a female shih tzu and a male maltese; the male maltese "marks" everything!).
Posted by: Jasmine | July 29th, 2008 at 1:19 pm
Too cute for words!!! I also hope you take all 3. Considering they are Paw Paw's grandsons I hope you take them all.
Posted by: joan vogt | July 29th, 2008 at 2:04 pm
Martha, after studying the pictures of the pups, if I had to pick one; I would take the one on the left. His paws look the largest and his mug looks the fullest. Nan
Posted by: Nan Ashby | July 29th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Personally I think every day is a struggle not to get another puppy! I have a (very much loved) three year old dog and I often lokk at pictures from the time when she was a puppy – she was adorable, as is your puppies!
How can you resist them? Keep them all ; )
Posted by: Hanna Goldh | July 29th, 2008 at 2:48 pm
I like th eone on the far right of the first and last pic. I think it's the smallest one. It's hard when you cant interact with and see the personality. Go with the smallest and calmest one. It will get along with the high the others later too.

It looks like almost everybody thinks you should keep all 3 and I have to agree how could you possible choose one.

Martha--you must adopt all three--they are sooo cute and they are related--keep the family together.
Posted by: Melanie | July 29th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
Cute little pups. I was so sorry to hear about Paw Paw, I know the sadness of losing a pet we lost Charlie a Yorkie last year and Pookie a black cat last year four days before my Mother past. I hope his Grandkids give you joy.
Posted by: Randall | July 29th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
Hi Martha:
I still like the little guy the best, he probably has a big heart& can live happily with the "Frenchies"
Posted by: Noreen | July 29th, 2008 at 5:22 pm
Martha, everyone seems to think you should adopt all three. I think it certainly sounds as though you'd like one, and only one. And I understand and agree with that, if it is your decision! First, it would be unfair to Sharkey and Francesca, as well as Vivaldi, Verdi, Bartok, Mozart, and Elektra (I doubt the canaries care!)to adopt all three at once. Furthermore, if you are like me, you like to have a special bond with your animals. Nothing will ever replace the bond you had with PawPaw, but something close is probably what you're hoping for, and you will not find that we three puppies. I lost my beloved kitty last week, and am grieving deeply. My baby was a dumpster rescue-- I only wish I had the opportunity to meet one of his grandsons!
It is hard to tell from pictures anything about the bond you have formed or will form with a puppy. Is there one who has captured your heart? One who seems to have a gentle soul and will be your baby in the near future?
Good luck, Martha.

Have a beautiful day.

Martha,
You are such an animal lover, I think that you should get all 3 puppies, not just because they are Paw Paw's grandsons, but because obviously love animals and would give them all such a great home! Plus, all of us viewers can see them grow up when you bring them on your show. =)

Martha, you may have to flip a coin or something. Seriously. "Cute overload" is absolutely right. Being a Feline-American myself (cat person), I must say I'd have a very difficult time picking one. However, if you do as suggested and get all three. . .you may need a canine wrangler! Just a thought. The French bulldogs are one thing, but a chow is a bit more.
I always say that if I ever get a dawg, I want an English Mastiff. They get as much as 200 pounds. . .the size of an average husband. However, if I'm going to have something that big in my home, I think I should be able to file "married/joint," if you know what I mean.
They're so cute. . .hard to pick just one!

Martha,
You must keep these little pups together! Don't split them up! Just think of how fun it would be to have all three little guys and they would enjoy one another when you're busy with work. Francesca and Sharkie certainly need one another! They could be your three little stooges!

Might I suggest the name Hey Hey?

Posted by: Susan | July 30th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
Martha, not only could you receive the unconditional love from these three Paw Paw grandsons but your photo ops with them would be extremely striking. I can just see you entering the TV show with all of them as you so always beautifully do, with the martha stewart entrage music playing. Just think you would really be gorgeous with them and the girls (Sharkey and Francesca). Nan
Posted by: Nan Ashby | July 30th, 2008 at 2:54 pm
It's an easy choice. All three!
Really, there is no way you can choose just one. They are just too adorable.
Posted by: Nuria | July 30th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
I gotta say that tho they are cute, sweet,& fluffy little guys, that it would be a far better thing to only get the one pup that responds to you the best. To get all three would be a receipe for a "non-relationship" with them all. To do what's the *Best* thing, is not always the *easiest* thing to do.
Good Luck!!
Posted by: karen fitz | July 30th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
Having owned two chows in the past, I strongly feel you should take all three! I mean, honestly, Paw Paw was such a handsome fellow and such a wonderful mascot for you and your company... just think what three would be like!! Charming beyond belief. Yes, you should certainly get all three. But I would also wait till they are a wee bit older, sometimes that extra bit of time with mum makes for better socialization.
Of course, I now have two adorable rescue dogs, one of which is the mascot of my own company!
Posted by: Pamela | July 30th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
Please answer in your blog...Will Paw Paw's grandchild turn that beautiful burnish red color coat that Paw Paw had? The babies are just adorable and I could not pick which one you should have!!!!!

I also have a chow (looks just like paw paw) I printed the picture of paw paw and put it on my refrigerator. I showed it to my grandson and asked him who it was and he said it was "rusty" our beautiful chow.

Martha,
Get all three! Years ago I got three white shepherds, all brothers. I never had male issues, they were best buddies. I lost two of them last year. One to cancer and one old age. I still have one and although he's an old man, he needed a pal. I got him a new golden retriever to keep him company. I think it's made him younger. I also have a Friesian, I'd like to see more of yours.

Again, as the breeder of these puppies, I am amazed at all of the posts to both of the blogs regarding Paw Paw's grandsons. I am glad so many people want to help Martha make the right choice. One lady asked about the color of the puppies. Their father (Paw Paw's son) is a very dark red so I suspect these puppies will be a nice shade of red as well.

I love the puppy in the middle. He seems to be ready for action. I would pick him!

Have you picked a name for the future puppy?

Dear Martha,
I say go for it... get all three. Paw Paw would be so proud to know his grandkids were with you. Just think of the fun you will have naming them. I always love seeing your pets in your magazine at your home, especially the winter scenes. Oh and you should definitely inlcude those sweet donkeys too. These puppies are too cute... keep them all and make sure to bring them on your show for all to see!

Dear Martha,
I love them all. Good news, though. I don't see how you can make a mistake with any of them. They are so cute. Perhaps they will go to near by neighbors so that you can see them all grow up to make their grand pa proud as he looks down on all of you.
Thank you so much for keeping all of us in the loop.
I hope that you are having a wonderful time enjoying all of your beloved pets this summer.
Until your next present of photos of your impending arrival.
Best wishes,
Margaret

You must get all 3 & keep us posted on all their mischief as they grow up. They're so adorable. I had a blue/grey chow that I inherited from my daughter when she went away to basic training yrs ago. His name was Saki & he was so gorgeous. He's gone now & I really miss him as I know you miss Paw Paw.

Oh my gosh, they are so adorable and how amazing would it be to keep the brothers together?!
We have brothers (Moe and Curly). We never had a Larry, but we do have a 3rd (Simon) and they get along beautifully.
I vote for the whole family. You can't break them up.
Have fun!

I can't take it, they are so cute! I'm sure this has been said before but they look like little stuffed animals. And how lovely for you that this way Paw Paw can, in a way, live on with you.

They are all divine. I once bought a litter of six. Due to the fact that Chows are food fighters, it wasn't a wise choice for me since I don't have any help. Thirteen years later four of them are still living. I do love Chows and I will definitely look forward to seeing yours on your show if I'm lucky enough to have that time free when I start back to school. Thanks for sharing. Barbara in Kansas

Martha:
What a tough decision! The one in the middle reminds me the most of Paw Paw, but since they look so similar, personality and temperament should be the main considerations.
While I'm tempted to say take all 3, only you know what's best for you and taking only one would allow others to enjoy Paw Paw's grandsons as well. I wish I could take one.
I checked out the website mentioned in the comment by Kim Wylie on 7/29 and there are a lot of fine names to be found there. I agree with her, if you only choose one dog, Ting Ting is the way to go.
If you take all three, here are some other choices (I think they should all rhyme): Ting Ting, Shing Shing, Ping Ping, Ming Ming, Ling Ling.
All decisions in life should be so "hard".
I look forward to knowing the outcome. Happy Birthday tomorrow!

Hi Martha
I agree with the other readers: it isn't a question of which one to choose; since these are Paw Paw's grandsons, they should all be kept together and with you.

Definitely should go with the majority here.
Take 'em all.
And name them Nom Nom, Tocks and Kronch.

Hello Martha...I am a puppy-holic...love em...their smell...their fat tummies...their breath...everything...how to choose...guess in that case, let one choose you...we did that with a Great Dane...we had him for 13 years...

My pomeranian had puppies and we haven't gotten them sold and we have a problem with them fighting when they eat. Our bigger poms go after them and the puppies scream and cry as they run to a hidey hole. So, I'm not so sure that all three would be a good idea. Martha, as a dog lover, I would want to keep all three, but I don't think it would be wise for the reason I wrote about. Good luck and God bless you in your decision.

Hi Martha . Everytime I see you with the Chows , it looks to me like you are going to keep both of them and I really can't blame you. These little guys are so precious. Belen

Hello Martha -
I noted by re-reading your November, 2002 issue,
in the calendar section, that tomorrow, the 22nd would have been Paw Paw's birthday. Since
he is no longer with you, I just wanted to say
I will be thinking of you. You must miss him
so much.
As a pet lover myself (2 dogs, 9 cats) I know
how hard the loss of a dear pet can be.
I know you have probably heard of the lovely
sentiment "The Rainbow Bridge" which lets us
know our pets will be reunited with us someday. I hope it brings you comfort.
All the best and a Happy Thanksgiving to you,
your family and animal friends.
Take care,
Judy Wolhar
