Tied up in traffic on the way to a book signing
Last Thursday after a busy day of meetings and shooting television in Manhattan, my driver and I set out for Syosset, located on the North Shore of Long Island, New York. Our destination was the Borders bookstore where I was to attend another book signing. Typically, this is not a long journey from New York City, except when there is traffic, and we encountered plenty of it. When it appeared that we would be a bit late, I called ahead to inform my team. I was told that spirits were high as Joey Kola, the warm-up artist for my television show was there entertaining the crowd. Joey lives in the area and had planned to attend the book signing with his wife. As usual, with his affable personality, Joey did a great job amusing the line before my arrival.

3 As usual, the line wrapped around the store.
4 I finally arrived and Joey opened up the line for business.
5 Here I am thanking Joey for keeping the crowd happy.

I'm glad you arrived safe and sound and that Joey was able to keep the adoring fans preoccupied 'til your arrival.

I always enjoy seeing your photos at book signings - everyone is happy, expectant, and excited to see you and meet you. I like, too, that you're agreeable to and make time for photographs to be taken with your fans. You are making someone's day (or even life!) in doing so. I would treasure such a thing...I know that!

I just LOVE you, Martha and hope you never tire of hearing it from me!

Hi Martha, I've never been to one of your delightful book signings, but I can only guess that all of your fans waiting for your arrival were so glad when you finally arrived. How great that super Joey Kola was there to entertain your fans until you got there. I love the photos of this event and I can truly see how happy all of your fans were. How special to see so many children there. Thanks for sharing. Hope your throat is better. Loved your show Monday and today. Great ideas for the holidys. Jan

Dear Martha: It is a joy to share Marth'a world, even from afar. We are soooo disappointed that we cannot watch your show from our Toronto, Ontario, Canada home. Your show is simply not available. Is there any good news in the near future of you being broadcast here. My Serius radio is on 114, 24/7. Best Good Wishes and Happy Thanksgiving
