A Blazing Hot Sunrise
Last Thursday and Friday, I was involved with taping a grilling special, which will air Friday, June 24th on Hallmark. On this really great show, I am joined by master chefs who share their secrets for delicious grilling success. But wouldn’t you know it? The two days that were scheduled for this grilling extravaganza, temperatures soared well into the 90sF, perhaps even reaching 100-degrees! This is freakish weather for June in this part of the country. As is my nature, I was up bright and early to photograph another amazing sunrise on Friday morning. Enjoy and I hope you’ll watch Grilling Secrets of the Master Chefs.
The sunrise last Friday morning at my farm
Temperatures the day before reached high into the 90sF.
Obviously, there was much humidity in the air, which made such high temperatures quite unbearable.
The mist seemed to thicken as the sun rose even higher.
I could feel that it was going to be another sweltering day.
The mist was so thick, I could barely make out the other end of the apple espalier.
The terrace furniture was wet with dew.
I rather enjoy the way the farm looks shrouded in early morning mist.
Empress Tang was out for her morning exploration.
Strolling across the millstone on the terrace
And now onto the wall
Something startled her!
It was her sister, Empress Peony!
Peony went off to hunt birds.
Next, Verdi popped out of the bushes.
Turning in the other direction, the plantings on the terrace were glowing in the sun's light.
This corner of the herb garden is planted with oregano.
And this corner has bushy sage growing with thyme in the back corner.
A better view of the upper terrace - Just look at the color of that golden barberry!
Note to Shaun and Ryan - There are weeds to pull here and the golden barberry needs pruning.
