A Fun Night at the FiFi Awards
Last Monday evening, I attended the 40th Anniversary FiFi Awards, which are considered to be the Oscars of the fragrance industry. The event was held at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center in New York City and was attended by an interesting mix of celebrities. These awards emphasize how important fragrance is to the world of fashion and what a big revenue maker it has become. The fragrances recognized at FiFi come from all over the world. Some are manufactured by major companies and others, by individual designers. And it’s always so much fun for me to see which celebrities have developed a fragrance of their own.
1 I've been standing on a lot of event carpets lately and this time it was for the 40th annual FiFi Fragrance Awards last Monday evening.
3 I have never been a fan of men wearing cologne, so it was ironic that I was there to present an award in the men's category.
6 Designer, Nicole Richie, attended wearing Emilio Pucci and has a new fragrance called Nicole. She said that she was taught by her mother to never leave home without oil, lotion, and perfume.
9 It wasn't planned, but my publicist, Susan Magrino and I both wore black lacy dresses. Mine was a Valentino that I particularly like wearing.
10 Posing with George Ledes, President & CEO at Beauty Fashion and his evening companion, Lisa Bytner of Lisa Bytner PR
11 Here I am with some MSLO employees - Laura Petasnick, VP Integrated Sales; Joe Lagani, Chief Revenue Officer; Alison Matz, Publisher of Whole Living; and Raylene Salthouse, Executive Beauty Director
15 Having a very pleasant chat with Environmental activist and CNN Special Correspondent Philippe Cousteau.
17 With Singer Chaka Khan, who looked radiant after recently losing 60 pounds. Chaka was there to introduce her new fragrance, Khana Sutra, a pine-scented fragrance for both men and women.
18 Golden Globe and Emmy winning actress and comedian, Jane Lynch, of 'Glee,' was the host of the evening and looked nice and crisp in her black and white outfit.
19 Here I am with Mariska Hargitay from 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,' where I recently made a guest star appearance, playing the head mistress of a private school.
20 This is the second award I presented for the 'Consumer’s Choice' Award for Women won by Victoria’s Secret Angel by Victoria’s Secret Beauty. I gave it to Mark Knitowski President of Victoria’s Secret Beauty.
22 Following FiFi, we had a delicious dinner at Salumeria Rosi Parmacotto on the Upper West Side. One of Chef Cesare’s signature touches is to adorn folded cloth napkins with fresh rosemary sprigs.
24 Our meal was delicious - Daisy doesn’t eat meat so we ordered only vegetables and pasta. The food was delicious!

What a fun event. I really love Martha's dress, she looks GREAT!

You look great as always and loved photo of napkins with rosemary sprigs. Born Wild is a good light fragrance, given me as gift with bag that I have caried since Christmas. Did you see Christian Audigier there, as doesn't he plan 2 fragrances out about Lord and Lady Blatimore?

Hi Martha,
Is there anyone who has more fun than you? I don’t think so – you’re the only one I see in the news who attends just about all of the events. What an honor to be in such demand and I enjoy being your follower. I love your shoes! Have a safe weekend everyone! Trish

Martha, surprised to hear you filmed a part on CSI. And, I know you recently were on "Two Broke Girls." Does this mean you're extending into the world of acting?

Martha you looked fabulous! I loved your shoes...made your legs look oh so long. The dress was gorgeous as well and so suitable for the occasion. I know ladies don't like to talk about their age but I just read somewhere that you are 70 and I must say I can't believe it. You look like you are maybe in your late 40s or 50ish!! You must have a secret because your skin always looks radiant with a beautiful healthy glow.
I love your website and am on it constantly!

Love Jacques Cousteau...I watched his every episode at my grandfather's side...very very young girl 4,5,6,7, onward. It really made me aware of the environment. What a pioneer! Martha love your hair style, your makeup for this outfit, the great dress and shoes. You do inspire as does your MSLO family in these pics!! Thanks for sharing. Did Josh or Chaka sing for you? What a great tip on the folded napkin and rosemary. God Bless our troops worldwide. Enjoy the long Memorial Day weekend!

As one of the people working the event (I'm in a shot as Martha starts the red carpet), I can say what a pleasure it was to meet her. She was friendly and sweet. And she looked beautiful in her classic yet slightly edgy black dress.
