A view of my home from the stable - It's beginning to look a lot like winter, however....
With mild temperatures and damp weather, the grass is still growing! Imagine - mowing in the middle of December here in the northeast, while we are decorating for Christmas!
The terrace and the stairs leading up to the kitchen - The giant Christmas wreaths have been hung on the buildings.
This end of the carport building houses the flower room/baking kitchen. Bird feeders hang from the back eaves.
Two 'snow-covered' artificial trees flank the door where party guest will enter. They need to be decorated.
A view from the terrace towards the donkey paddock and the stables - The farm crew did a nice job burlapping this part.
Speaking of donkeys - These sweet creatures are so much fun to photograph.
In fact, I chose this image taken last year in the snow for my Christmas cards, which I am currently addressing.
On the other side of the house facing Girdle Ridge, is the courtyard where my large collection of potted tropical plants are arranged during the warm months.
During the party, there will be a fire going in the iron fire bowl. There is plenty of wood stacked for this event. Beyond the triple sash windows is my brown room, which serves as a dining room and sitting area.
Another look at that massive fire bowl - The hedge beyond is a hornbeam, a deciduous shrub, which will grow new green leaves in the spring.
Another look at those wreaths, which came from U.S. Evergreen, located at 805 6th Ave. New York, NY
Alfredo, who works on the weekends, helped me decorate the brown room.
I was thrilled to find silver tip firs this year. These trees have a beautiful symmetrical shape.
He put the wreaths around the base of the trees
Silver tips have sturdy, layered branches that can hold many ornaments. The needles have a green/blueish tint with silvery tips.
Fragrance from the greenery permeates the room with a lovely fir forest scent of Christmas.
Also in the brown room on the dining room table is a little forest of silver tinsel trees with birch bases.
I like to hang decorative wreaths on interior windows, but I've always worried about marring the paint with hanging wires.
I worried until I found these clever Command damage-free hooks.
These hooks attach to the window using a special adhesive tape.
The hooks are clear and are barely visible.
When you want to remove the hooks, you simply pull on the downward-facing tab and the hook releases from the surface leaving no marks what-so-ever.
Pale green feather trees in the servery
Also in the servery, this one is decorated with a garland of silver balls.
In the bird room - an ivory feather tree with clear glass balls
Also in the bird room are silver tinsel trees with glass icicles.
And a silver tinsel tree with pearly balls
A glittery Noah's arc is displayed in the entrance hall.
And in the green parlor....
Green and gold is the theme.
There are two full size gold trees.
And smaller ones on pedestals
And more icicles
The kitchen is festive with red.
How adorable!
In the evening, the outdoor decorations are illuminated.
I really love these shooting stars.
So beautiful!
