The clouds parted briefly the other day, brightening the gloom with a rainbow.
My terrace has never looked more beautiful than it does here in a sun shower.
A view of the corn crib through rain drops
The new Christmas tree field is benefitting from all the rain.
The mulch piles are steaming away.
The cobblestone courtyard at the stable is gleaming.
The chickens are happy to see a little sun.
The sun beaming through the trees over a carriage trail
So artful
This little building is a utility shed. It is adorned with an iron tree that holds seasonal potted plants. The gardens surrounding it are so lush and green with all of the rain we've been getting.
These magnificent ruffled leaves are astilboides tabularis. They grow to 3-feet across!
The fern on the left is a maidenhair and the one on the right is a royal fern.
I have planted many varieties of hostas. I love all their differing sizes and leaf textures.
Hosta with a narrow white edge
The jagged leaves of astilbe
Another two-tone hosta - the leaves catch water droplets so beautifully.
More hosta and water droplets
Polygonatum or Solomon's seal has distinctive, parallel-veined leaves.
These are paper-thin, heart-shaped leaves of epimedium, which looks lovely along a path or garden edge.
Heuchera 'Silver Scrolls' is an excellent foliage plant and wild ginger, whose glossy leaves make a beautiful ground cover.
The ribbon-like leaves of Hakonechloa - Japanese forest grass
A good closeup
Ornamental Chinese rhubarb
The beautiful leaves of Podophyllum - hybrid mayapple
The large and lovely leaves of American mayapple
More hosta leaves glossy from the rain
Japanese painted fern - one of my favorite
Thalictrum - a flowering plant in the family Ranunculaceae
