Friends of Hudson River Park 2015 Gala

Nearly one thousand guests gathered together to celebrate the amazing growth and revitalization of New York City’s Hudson River Park.

Last night, I was among the honorees at the 17th annual Friends of Hudson River Park gala held at Chelsea Piers. The Hudson River Park is considered the largest open space project in Manhattan since Central Park. Four miles long, it is the longest waterfront park in the country and attracts more than 17-million visits a year!

Three of the most recent developments were announced at the event. They include: a 10-million dollar donation from Citigroup to rebuild another pier in need of attention, Pier 26; the help from architect, Rafael Vignoly, who is donating his services to design an Estuarium; and, a sizable donation from Council member, Corey Johnson, to restore the Chelsea Waterside Playground. These are crucial since the park receives no state or city funds for its annual operating budget and relies solely on private contributions for all its maintenance, programming and beautification.

I am so proud to be on the Board of Friends of Hudson River Park - an independent, nonprofit dedicated to the completion, care, and enhancement of the space, and the designated fundraising partner of the Hudson River Park Trust.

I encourage you to visit the Hudson River Park the next time you are in the New York City area - you will see why it is so special.

Here are some photos - enjoy.
